[$10 at Target] April.

Monday, April 17, 2017

I'm excited to be back again today co-hosting this link up with Becky and some other fabulous ladies!  If you posted today as well, don't forget to link up with us below and then hop around and check out how the rest of my co-hosts (and everyone else!) spent their $10!

Per the usual, I went in to this month's shopping trip not knowing what I wanted to buy. I actually bought these things on two separate trips because I happened to stumble upon the straws on one trip when I didn't have enough time to look around for other items, but happened to see them sitting in the clearance section calling my name.

First up, the paper straws that I mentioned above. I love fun paper straws, but hate spending tons of money on them since you don't get very many and are purely paying for the pretty factor, so when I saw these sitting in the clearance section, I knew I had to scoop them up for my $10 trip.

A week or so later, I was back at Target to shop for my $10 trip when I was racking my brain for what else to buy. I remembered that I had been wanting to try these coffee drinks and thought now would be the perfect time. I tried it this weekend and it was... ok. I couldn't decide if I liked it or not, but ultimately I felt like it was too sweet. I used to love these sweet drinks, but I've recently gotten away from them and now I guess they are too sweet for my liking.

And last but not least, some fun new Sharpie markers to use in my planner. I remember we had some of these at my old job and I loved writing with them, so I thought, why not?

So, how'd I do on my budget?
Since I bought these on two different trips and along with other items, I don't have a receipt to show, but here's the breakdown.

Coffee: $2.89
Straws: $1.50
Sharpie's: $4.67
Minus RED Card discount : ($0.45)
Tax (7.75%) : $0.66

Total : $9.27

[$10 at Target] March.

Per the usual, I went in to this month's shopping trip not knowing what I wanted to buy. I was with Mason so I knew I didn't have a ton of time to just browse, so I went with the tried and true and went to the Easter section. I figured I could find a few goodies there... and I was right!

This first thing I saw were these awesome Easter photo booth like props. I immediately knew that it would be fun for Mason and his cousins to play with on Easter. I bought these cute glasses last year and they had a blast wearing them, so I thought these would be a cute twist on that this year. Only problem is... Mason decided to open them as soon as we got home and play with them, so we'll see if they last until actual Easter. We have a month-ish to go... fingers crossed!

You might remember that last time I got some Mrs. Meyer's soap. We have the dish soap and love it, so I thought I'd get some hand soap. I call it a splurge because obviously there's cheaper soap out there, but we liked it so much that I thought I'd get more. Seth immediately said he liked foaming soap better than liquid soap, so I opted to try the foaming one this time. (It was actually on sale, buy one, get one 25% off, so I bought two, but for the purpose of this, I only counted one.)

For my last item, I got a small pack of the Cadbury eggs. They're my very favorite, and I know I could have had enough in my budget for a big bag, but I was trying to be good. That and saving my calories for those See's eggs that I love SO much ;)

So, how'd I do on my budget?
Since I bought these along with some other items, I don't have a receipt to show, but here's the breakdown.

Soap : $3.49
Easter photo booth props : $5.00
Cadbury : $0.79
Minus RED Card discount : ($0.46)
Tax (7.75%) : $0.68

Total : $9.50

[$10 at Target] February.

Monday, February 20, 2017

I'm excited to be back again today co-hosting this link up with Becky and some other fabulous ladies!  If you posted today as well, don't forget to link up with us below and then hop around and check out how the rest of my co-hosts (and everyone else!) spent their $10!

For this month's $10 at Target, I shopped... on Saturday. As in two days ago Saturday.

Oops.

I completely forgot what day it was and realized this weekend when I was looking at my planner that our link up was today. Nothing like last minute shopping ;)

I try to keep the items that I buy with my $10 as things I don't need. Yes, I did buy soap, but did I need this type of soap? No. I wanted to try it out and see how I liked it so I considered it an "extra". We've been using the Mrs. Meyer's dish soap and I really like it, but we usually just use the Soapsoft that I refill when we run low, so this was kind of a splurge. Even though it's soap.

I had wanted to pick up this little holder at Target as well as a part of my $10 shopping spree, but I couldn't find anything I liked. I googled what I had seen some others have and found that they have it at Crate and Barrel. We just so happened to be by one on Saturday afternoon when we were at a birthday party, so I convinced Seth to stop so we could pick one up. To my surprise, it was only $4.95 (I don't think I've ever gotten out of Crate and Barrel so cheap), so I happily purchased it and we were on our way.

Now that we've thoroughly talked about soap way more than I ever thought I would on my blog, I did also get two other items. FOOD items! First up, I decided to splurge a little and get some Boom Chicka Pop. I love that stuff, but usually only get pre-made kettle corn on special occasions (like at the fair or a baseball game), so I thought it would be fun. I've been kind of obsessed with popcorn lately and on a Skinny Pop kick, so I thought I'd spice things up and get some kettle corn instead this time.

For my last item, I got this salted caramel ice cream topping. My friend had been raving about how good it is so I thought I'd try it. Let me tell you... it does not disappoint!

So, how'd I do on my budget?
Since I bought these along with some other items, I don't have a receipt to show, but here's the breakdown.

Soap : $3.99
Boom Chicka Pop : $3.29
Caramel : $2.12
Minus RED Card discount : ($0.47)
Tax (7.75%) : $0.69

Total : $9.62

Under!

Not sure what I could have bought for $0.40 to get any closer so I consider this a win, especially since I over spent by a quarter last month. It all evens out eventually.

[$10 at Target] January.

I'm excited to be back again today co-hosting this link up with Becky and some other fabulous ladies!  If you posted today as well, don't forget to link up with us below and then hop around and check out how the rest of my co-hosts (and everyone else!) spent their $10!

For this month's $10 at Target, I really had no clue what I was looking for.... again. I thought at first that I would get some goodies in the dollar section since Valentine's Day is coming up, but by the time I got there, a lot had been picked over and all the good stuff was gone. I seriously should have looked on the day after Christmas or something! People at my Target are intense. But regardless, I was still able to find some good stuff!

Window clings, a heart garland, some Oreos, and a heart dish. The window clings are for Mason to decorate the window for Valentine's Day. I had wanted more, but again, the whole section was totally picked over and I randomly found these sitting on top of some other stuff that they didn't even belong with, so I settled for one. This heart garland is super cute and while I am not 100% sure where I'm going to hang it yet, the hearts are made out of wood and then painted, and I just couldn't pass it up.

Mint Oreos... how I love thee. You see, one day a while back, I sent Seth to the grocery store. On the list? Oreos. I expected our normal double stuffed ones, but he came back with mint. Ugh. Mint? I was pretty mad (so silly!) because they "weren't what I wanted". I mean, I love mint! But I just didn't expect these. Begrudgingly, I ate some and I LOVED them. They literally taste like Girl Scout Cookies Thin Mints and are amazing. I was craving some Thin Mints and since it's not Girl Scout Cookie season yet, I splurged on these! Plus it was about time I bought some food again, right? ;)

I've been wanting to put my jewelry in some sort of cute dish that isn't the paper box that it came in for some time now and this fits the bill!

So, how'd I do on my budget?
Since I bought these along with some other items, I don't have a receipt to show, but here's the breakdown.

Window Clings : $1.00
Heart Garland : $3.00
Mint Oreos : $2.99
Heart Tray : $3.00
Minus RED Card discount : ($0.50)
Tax (8%) : $0.76

Total : $10.25

Over again! Oops.

I guess that's what happens when you spend $10 and your discount isn't as much as your tax is. But hey, a quarter is not that bad!

[$10 at Target] December.

Monday, December 19, 2016

I'm excited to be back again today co-hosting this link up with Becky and some other fabulous ladies!  If you posted today as well, don't forget to link up with us below and then hop around and check out how the rest of my co-hosts (and everyone else!) spent their $10!

For this month's $10 at Target, I really had no clue what I was looking for. I thought at first that I would get some goodies in the dollar section since Target had been totally hitting it out of the park with their Christmas stuff, but then I changed my mind.

I got this wallet and these double layered gloves!

When I went to Disneyland a couple weeks ago with Erin and Desiree, Erin had a wallet super similar and I thought it was genius. She said she uses her small wallet from Target when she goes to Disneyland and only takes the necessities so her big wallet doesn't take up so much room in her purse. GENIUS! My wallet is giant and takes up so much real estate when I could be carrying jackets or extra snacks or something, so when I saw this at Target this month, I knew I needed to get it! It holds my Disneyland pass, my Driver's License, and a couple credit cards PERFECTLY.

These gloves are perfect for work! During the winter months, when we start work at 3:30am on Sunday, IT IS COLD. We are outside taking money from customers and I often wear lots of layers on my body, but my hands are freezing. I can't wear regular gloves because I can't accurately hold the money and give out tickets and give out change without worrying about giving too much change or the money slipping out of my hands.

These gloves are perfect because they are multi layer! You can wear the full glove and fingerless glove.... or just the full glove... or just the fingerless glove! I love the options and I love the the full glove still lets you use your phone. I hate that about regular gloves where I always have to take one off if I want to use my phone to text or to take a picture. I can't wait to have an opportunity to wear them. I'm thinking I better plan a trip to Disneyland so I can use both of my new things!

So, how'd I do on my budget?
Since I bought these along with some other items, I don't have a receipt to show, but here's the breakdown.

Wallet : $7.99
Gloves : $2.45 (originally $3.50 - cold weather items on sale 30% off)
Minus RED Card discount : ($0.52)
Tax (8%) : $0.79

Total : $10.71

Over again! Oops.

I kind of had a feeling it would be over a little this month but when I found these two items, I knew I had to have them so I was just happy I didn't go over by a dollar or more.

[$10 at Target] November.

Monday, November 21, 2016

I'm excited to be back again today co-hosting this link up with Becky and some other fabulous ladies!  If you posted today as well, don't forget to link up with us below and then hop around and check out how the rest of my co-hosts (and everyone else!) spent their $10!

For this month's $10 at Target, I went kind of random. You will notice that I went almost all in the food category - or drink, to be more precise. I don't know what prompted me to go that route, but they looked good and I could get a lot for my money! I also randomly added in a new eye lash curler because I needed one and I love the other ELF products, so I hoped I would love this one too!

I was a little unsure of the eye lash curler at first. When I first used it, it seemed to be at a weird angle (or at least a different angle than my current one), so I wasn't sure how I felt about it. But the more I used it, the more I loved it, and I've since thrown away my old one and only use this one now.

The drinks... most were good, but most were also something I probably wouldn't buy everyday. My boss had left a bai drink in the fridge at work when she left to go home so I thought I'd try it. I had heard other people talk about how good they were, so I thought, hey it's free, why not? It was a peach one and it was super good! So when I found these at Target, I thought I'd try them. Most flavors were pretty good, even the bubbly ones, but I don't know that I'd buy them regularly.

The market pantry ones were pretty good and were more just like sparkling, flavored water. All the flavors were good and given how cheap they were and how much I got, I'd say, I'd be interested to get them on occasion when I wanted to switch it up from my normal boring water.

So, how'd I do on my budget?
Since I bought these along with some other items, I don't have a receipt to show, but here's the breakdown.

Bai drinks: $1.89 + $1.99 + $1.99 = $5.87
Market Pantry sparkling waters : 3 x $0.69 = $2.07
CRV for all drinks: (3 x $0.10) + (3 x $0.05) = $0.45
Eye lash curler: $2.00
Tax (8% - only on eye lash curler) : $0.16
Minus RED Card discount : ($0.50)
Total : $10.05

Just barely over budget! I gave myself a pat on the back for this one (lol)!

$10 at Target [October].

Monday, October 17, 2016

I'm excited to be back again today co-hosting this link up with Becky and some other fabulous ladies!  If you posted today as well, don't forget to link up with us below and then hop around and check out how the rest of my co-hosts (and everyone else!) spent their $10!

If you remember what happened last month, you remember that I broke the rules and spent $32 since the link up occurred on my birthday. This month, no birthday, no special budget, so I'm back with my finds for $10!

In one of the groups that I'm in on Facebook, someone recommended this drink. I had no idea what it was, but upon asking some questions, I learned that this is actually spiked seltzer water with a hint of flavor. . Hmm. Sounds interesting. I knew immediately that I wanted to save this and try it out for my $10 at Target. I try not to buy any necessities with my $10 budget and strictly stick to something fun and this totally fit the bill. I hate to say that I still haven't tried one (I only bought them a few days ago and then had to work all weekend), but that's the truth. I plan to have one tonight so I can definitely report back, but I'm assuming it's going to be pretty tasty!

And now for the Twix... well... I had a little extra money left over and Twix is my favorite Halloween candy! And it was only $1.00 AND in the shape of ghosts!

So, how'd I do on my budget?
Since I bought these along with some other items, I don't have a receipt to show, but here's the breakdown.

Drink: $8.49
CRV: $0.30
Twix: $1.00
Tax (8%) : $0.00 ("to go" food)
Minus RED Card discount : ($0.49)
Total : $9.79

Under budget!

$10 at Target [September] -- Birthday Edition!

Monday, September 19, 2016

I'm excited to be back again today co-hosting this link up with Becky and some other fabulous ladies!  If you posted today as well, don't forget to link up with us below and then hop around and check out how the rest of my co-hosts (and everyone else!) spent their $10!

For this month's $10 at Target, I actually (gasp!) made up my own rules. You see, today is my 32nd birthday! So, for this month's Target haul I gave myself an extra special birthday budget of $32. Now I know this is breaking all the rules and spending like three times as much as I'm supposed to spend but hey,  the link up fell on my actual birthday, it's my day, and I do what I want :) Now, let's get to what I bought!

I have been wanting a Swell water bottle for FOREVER. Ever since they put up that gorgeous display in Target months ago. I always thought they were too expensive, which is why I hadn't gotten one yet, but hey, on your birthday $10 at Target trip, you can splurge on something like that. I'd been eyeing one at my local Target but just hadn't bought it yet. It was $24.99. Occasionally they go on sale for $20.99 or something close to that but for the most part, they are about $25. Then one day I needed to run by Target to pick something up and I happened to be by the Target by my work, so I stopped in. I was walking by the Swell display when I noticed that they were significantly cheaper at that Target than at mine! So what did I do? I scooped one up and made it mine. This pink Swell bottle has been so great for me and I'm so glad I bought it. We took it on our San Francisco trip (to be recapped soon!) and it worked so well and kept my water COLD all day.

I also bought these straws to use in my new knock off Yeti from Walmart. I love the bigger, thicker straws and these are slightly pliable so I think they might be able to fit through the lid opening better than the harder ones that I have currently.

And then there was this nail polish. I had been eyeing a new Essie color for a while, but couldn't decide which one I wanted. Then one day Seth and I were at Target and happened to be walking by the back of the aisles where they have the sale items. And lo and behold, I see a bunch of Essie. Essie on sale?!?! That never happens! Most of them were colors that I don't really wear (blues and greens) but then I found this beautiful pink and knew I needed it. It fit my budget perfectly so I made it mine.

I made sure to paint my nails before we shared our posts today so I could show you this gorgeous color! It's called "Vanity Fairest" and it's probably one of my new favorites. I love how light it is but still has that pink tint to it. It's very spring, but I don't mind. I will continue to wear it all the way through the winter and into the spring. I have no clue why it was discounted, hopefully it's not discontinued, because they should definitely keep making it!

PS this was RIGHT after painting my nails. No day 2 clean up going on here. If you remember what my nails normally look like after I paint them (it's not pretty), you know that this is a HUGE improvement! I can't take all the credit, I think this nail polish has special powers or something! LOL. Or maybe you just can't tell as much since it's so light? One or the other!

So, how'd I do on my budget?
Since I bought these along with some other items, I don't have a receipt to show, but here's the breakdown.

Swell Bottle : $19.99
Straws : $3.99
Nail Polish : $6.26 (on sale from $8.59)
Tax (8%) : $2.42
Minus RED Card discount : ($1.63)
Total : $31.03!

Under budget! Well, under the birthday budget I set for myself. But still. That's pretty good!

$10 at Target [August].

Monday, August 15, 2016

From the very first time I saw Becky do a post on $10 at Target, I was intrigued. I mean, who only spends $10 at Target??? Then I read a little further and realized she gave herself the challenge to only spend $10 at Target on something fun for herself and I was intrigued again. I commented on her post that I loved the idea of her post and would love to try something similar (and a few other people must have too) and this blog hop link up was born!

I'm excited to be back again today co-hosting this link up with Becky and some other fabulous ladies!  If you posted today as well, don't forget to link up with us below so we can see your awesome $10 hauls!

For this month's $10 at Target, I actually did my shopping pretty early like I did last month. Not quite the day after though... more like three days after! Ha! I didn't really intend on doing it that way, but I was at Target getting some actual necessities when I walked past the school section and had to stop. Back to school supply shopping was my absolute favorite when I was younger. I'd love getting new binders, notebooks, pens, and pencils, and that love has translated into my adult life too. To this day, I still love getting binders and dividers to organize, new pretty pens, and a new planner each year. So it's no surprise here that for August, I went with a supply themed haul!

I picked up a planner, some markers, and a pen(cil) box. I currently have an Erin Condren planner and LOVE it, but it's too big and heavy for me to carry around everyday. With Mason having so much going on, therapy and appointment wise, I need to have a planner that I can carry around with me all the time. I do mostly have all the appointments in my iCal on my phone, but I don't overly trust the phone and I prefer to write things down on paper, so when I came across this planner that runs from July 2016-June 2017 AND it was super pretty, I knew I had to snag one.

And what's a new planner without new pens for it? I saw these in the dollar spot and thought I'd snag them too. I love that they have a wide tip and a skinnier tip too.

So, how'd I do on my budget?
Since I bought these along with some other items, I don't have a receipt to show, but here's the breakdown.

Planner : $6.79 (on sale from $7.99)
Pens : $3.00
Pen Holder : $0.50 (on sale from $0.79)
Tax (8%) : $0.82
Minus RED Card discount : (0.56)
Total : $10.55

Oops! Guess my math was a little off on this one and I probably shouldn't have bought the pen holder. Better luck next time!

I had so much fun shopping for myself and am excited to continue this link up! Now, link up and then hop around and check out how the rest of my co-hosts (and everyone else!) spent their $10!
