[Recipe Share] Caden's Meatloaf

Hello All Y'all! 

Caden here from The Randomosity of Southern Fried Domestication and I am wantin' to share with you one of my most favorite dinners EVER. 

I am so glad Elizabeth invited me over to show you! 

She is just a doll isn't she! Yes, yes she is!

Anywhoo, I will be showing you how to make meatloaf, this never fails. I love it...and so does my Husband! 

And his picky eater of a brother. 

The real Chicken Nugget Man

 

 My husband absolutely loves my meat loaf. He would have me make it once a week if I let him. My mom was the one I learned the meatloafery from. I think my mom used the recipe on the back of the Lipton Box, I make mine a tad different but not much. Who Cares Anyway?! People LOVE THE MEATLOAF.

I always make loaded mashed potatoes and thick cut green beans with bacon. I am a creature of habit. Well, almost. Muley is always bringing home a new BBQ sauce and I am constantly trying all of them in different ways. I shake things up a bit in the topping and I add the "BBQ Sauce of the Week" in there. Just play around. I know Rudy's BBQ Sauce mixed in is AHHHHHMMMAAAAZING. I know I have had a few picky eaters over and had to go heavy on the ketchup for the taste, that alone with the brown sugar is the bomb.com.

 I also have been using a lot of meat so that I can make my DOUBLEWHAMMYDINNER the next night. Muley knows that where there is loaf...MeatloafSammiches are soon to follow.

I think it is a toss up between which one he likes more. I usually do tator tots or potato cakes from the left over mashed potatoes. Last time I happen to do the potato cakes - they were annihilated before I could even take a picture! 

Everything I Need!

 Ingredients

Meatloaf

• 2.5 lbs Ground Beef 

(I make a large loaf, I make THE BEST Meatloaf Sandwiches)

• 1 1/2 Cups Panko Bread Crumbs
• 2 Eggs
• 3/4 Cups Water
• 3/4 Cup Ketchup
• Beefy Onion Soup <--- Lipton
• I always add Garlic Salt & Onion Powder

If it seems watery to you simply add a little Panko until it is moldable! Then form it into a loaf and stick it in a pan that fits!

Das Loaf

Bake at 350 Degrees 

Bake 1 Hour 

Take Out & Add Topping

Put Back In Oven For 15 More Minutes

I was so excited when Caden agreed to share her meatloaf recipe with you all! I have a meatloaf recipe that I love (and it's one of the only things I will actually COOK so my husband loves it by default...but actually really does love it too!) but I'm excited to try hers as well!

Hoppy Easter!

Easter this year was super fun! I feel like Mason actually "got it" and was really excited about the whole thing. Of course, I didn't take him to see the Easter bunny, which might have helped. After seeing some of my friends photos I have come to the conclusion that the Easter bunny is kinda...creepy. For every cute bunny, I saw 10 creepy ones. I mean. I'm just saying. While I would love to have that token "my kid is scared sh*tless of the Easter bunny", I think we might stick to just visiting with Santa and skip the bunny.

Easter morning started bright and early at 6:30am. Seth changed Mason's diaper while I set out the Easter goodies downstairs. When Mason came down I told him that the Easter bunny had left him a present and he ran over to see what it was. I, err the Easter bunny, packed his basket with a mix of practical and useful and fun. Seth also got an "Easter basket" which was really just a big egg filled with some of his favorite candies.

In Mason's Easter basket was :

books - Duck and Goose, Here Comes the Easter Bunny, The Bunny Hop, and Hoppy Clubhouse Easter (not pictured)

This was the best picture I could get with him wearing the glasses. EVERY time I put them on him, he ripped them off. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.

After Easter baskets, we had breakfast. Seth made Mason the cutest bunny pancake and we all ate pancakes and fruit for breakfast.

We usually go to Gymboree on Sundays but since it was a holiday, they were closed, so we took the opportunity to hang out for a bit, run some errands as a family, and start making dessert for Easter. So we headed to the grocery store, came home, had lunch, and Mason napped. And while Mason napped, I baked. First cupcakes for dessert, then banana bread.

After the cupcakes were cool, I decorated them with vanilla frosting and peeps and they were ready for Easter dessert!

Mason woke up from his nap and we were off to Nanny's house to celebrate!

Someone was excited about egg hunting and wouldn't let go of his basket.

Once we got to Nanny's, we hung out for a while, ate some delicious appetizers, and waited for all the cousins to arrive. Mason had a field day swinging on the swing and playing on the slide.

Once all the cousins arrived, it was egg hunting time!

This Easter was especially fun because I feel like Mason actually "got it". They had an Easter egg hunt on Thursday at daycare and Luz sent me pictures of Mason and he was really into it, searching for all the eggs around her house.

This egg hunt was no different. Mason was so excited to see all the eggs and within seconds of crossing the street and hitting the grass, he was off.

My favorite picture has to be the one of him holding up the eggs and showing me like "LOOK MOM! Look what I found!" Makes my heart so happy to see him so excited and proud of himself.

After the kids found all the eggs, we attempted to take a group picture of all the cousins, but as you can tell, Mason wanted none of it. When we were finally able to coax him back into the picture vicinity, he refused to sit anywhere near the girls so the last picture was the best one we were able to get.

While the group picture didn't turn out so well, I was super happy to get this picture with my boy.

After the egg hunt, we all went inside and had dinner...which I failed to take any pictures of because we were all so hungry, there was no time. But it was delicious none the less. After dinner, we had some dessert and then headed home...

...where we finished off the night with an Easter selfie.

We had such a fun Easter this year! Holidays are so much better with kids.

[BOY MOMS] Katie from Yellow Mango Life

Hey All! I’m Katie and you can find me over at Yellow Mango Life.  I was so stoked when Elizabeth from Chasin' Mason reached out to me about her Boy Moms feature. I LOVE being a boy mom! For any of you who have followed me, you know that our little man, Cruz, takes over the pages of my blog more often than not. Mainly because he’s cute, but he also says some of the funniest things and has better style than most men I know and for that I have to splash it all over my blog for the world to see.

PC (pre-Cruz), I had this perfect little picture of our perfect little family which would include my handsome husband Nick, the hub’s mini me in the form of a little boy, followed by a sweet little diva. I always thought it would be so great for our daughter to have a protective older brother to watch over her and beat up all the boys when she became a teenager.

Flash forward to prego: I still remember the day we found out we were having a boy (you can read about it here). I’m generally dramatic and love to put on a show, so you would’ve thought I had big plans to do a cute gender reveal…but nope. We were both too excited and couldn’t wait to rip open the envelope. As we saw the words that read “baby boy” on the piece of paper, I remember the first words that came out of Nick’s mouth – “I never win the coin flip, but I just won the biggest coin flip of my life!” It still makes me laugh, get excited and tear up. We were just so happy.

Flash even further forward to our life with Cruz and I’m just my happiest with him in our world. He is just as you would expect, a dirty, smelly, loving, sweet, handsome, intelligent, funny, naughty, amazing little guy.

Here are a few of my favorite boy moments:

He gives the puggle a run for her money.

He makes a mess, but you don’t care because look.at.those.cheeks.

He rocks a head remolding helmet better than any other kid I know.

He’s as dramatic as his mama.

His laugh is the best sound ever.

He is very intimidating.

He doesn’t like to be called a meatball…evidently.

He passes out while drinking. Eh, we’ve all been there.

He's amazed by classic movie characters. 

Those eyes. They’ll get you every time.

He’s the best father’s day gift. Ever. #loveyoulikeafatkidlovescake

I’m telling you he has style.

He’s the best running partner…even if the stroller gets really heavy around the last mile.

He doesn’t like he’s mama’s cooking all that much either…

He’s the best date for a wedding.

I just know he’s going to grow up to be a baseball player…

And a farmer…

He is the best dressed at the annual White Trash Bash.

These two are my world.

When he knows his mama doesn’t want to give him a bath? He does it himself. By way of falling into the fountain at the Mexican restaurant you’re eating in. Because he was reaching for the “monies.”

He loves being with the big boys.

Maybe that’s why he’s already started talking about nipples. Fortunately his own. And not mine.

He is a great accessory if you are scoping babes.

And the best shopping buddy.

He has perfected the Al Bundy. #allboy

He’s fiercely loyal to his stuffed animal pals.

He can grab us a beer.  #dontactlikeyourenotimpressed

He can pull off the interesting nerdy look quite well.

He is an extremely healthy eater – I mean broccoli in shells & cheese basically negates the fat content, right?

He IS perfect. And Italian.

And seriously? These guys.

He’s resourceful. Pacifier falls out? No biggie, let me just grab this thing and stick it in my mouth.
