Hi and welcome to my blog, Chasin' Mason! My name is Elizabeth and I am a 30 something year old who lives in Southern California. Wife to Seth. And mama to Mason. I've always wanted to blog but never had the guts to do it, nor did I think anyone would want to read it.
Well, I finally decided to finally give it a try!
I started this blog back in August of 2012 as a way for friends and family from far away to be able to connect with us and see what we were up to. I had just had my son, Mason, a month prior and this was the best way to connect with everyone all at once. I never dreamed that this little ol blog would evolve into what it has become, but I am so proud of how far we've come. I never dreamed that I would make real friends through blogging and meet such amazing people in this community, but I have, and it is my FAVORITE part!
This blog has evolved from the time that I started it a few short years ago. It is still the same mommy blog about motherhood and daily life with a toddler, but it has expanded with developments within our family to including a little bit about our son being diagnosed with autism and how that effected and plays into our daily life. Spoiler alert : life didn't change at all but we now have more resources available to better help Mason grow and thrive!

Here is our story...
My husband and I met at work. I was his boss. Seriously. They say don't date your employees...but it worked for me! (And for my sister-in-law and brother-in-law!). It was July of 2006 and I had just moved down to Southern California after graduating from college in Northern California. We started off as friends, but a couple years later we started dating. I was technically still his boss, but I don't fully consider him my employee. Right before I started working at Barnes and Noble as a manager, Seth had stopped working there full time. He had just gotten his job with the County of Orange and only worked at B&N part time on his Fridays off and occasionally on the weekends for extra money. So, yes, he worked there as a bookseller and I was a manager, but this was my full time job and his part time job. Either way, things worked out for the best and oddly enough, neither of us work there anymore.
We got engaged on September 22, 2009 outside of Angels stadium before attending the Angels vs Yankees game for my birthday and boy was I surprised!
And then we were married on November 7, 2010 at Strawberry Farms Golf Club in Irvine, CA.
On July 18, 2012 our family grew to three when Mason was born!
That our lives changed forever. And for the better. I seriously cannot imagine my life without Mason.
He is the center of our world. We are head over heels in love!

Some Fun Facts about Me
Some Fun Facts about Me
1. I hate umbrellas. I find them extremely annoying and inconvenient. Good thing I live in a place where it almost never rains.
2. I'm obsessed with the Chick fil a sauce from Chick fil a.
3. I'm obsessive about expiration dates. If it's expired, it's gone (even by one day - nope, bye bye). If I think it's been in the fridge too long, it's gone. If I'm at all iffy on it, it's gone. Seth things I'm crazy. I think I'm cautious.
4. When I buy something really expensive (like a TV or when I bought my car), I have extreme buyers remorse, even though I know I love it.
5. I LOVE taking Mason to the post office and I love his love for the post office, but in general, it's not my favorite place.
6. I HATE shopping in real stores (vs online). It's not so much that I hate going to the stores, but with ebates and online sales and coupon codes, I feel like I always get screwed and end up paying too much when shopping in store. Plus I also like trying things on in the comfort of my own home, with all my other clothes to help me make outfits, which is probably why I love Stitch Fix so much also.
7. I'm very much an AC girl vs a windows down girl when driving in the car.
8. Speaking of, I have a sun roof (moon roof? the one that opens!) in my car that I never open. I open the shade so the sun comes in, but I don't think I've ever actually opened it to get fresh air since I got my car over 7 years ago.
9. I cry when I laugh too hard. It's kind of embarrassing.
10. I'm terrible at finishing drinks. I almost always leave a sip or two at the bottom of the drink, no matter if it's a hot drink or cold drink. I have no idea why.
11. I don't know how to parallel park.

11. I don't know how to parallel park.
12. I love Starbucks. The obsession has gotten better but one time in college, my friend and I went 6 times in 5 days.
13. I have brown hair and blue eyes. I guess that's a rare combination? My biology teacher in 9th grade called me a mutant. How kind.
14. I hate nuts in my cookies.
15. I hate root beer and have never had a root beer float.
16. When I was little, I hated peanut butter. But I loved PB cups. Explain that logic to me. Kids! Haha.
17. In 8th grade, I first found out I needed glasses. I refused to wear them at first because I HATED them. I would rather squint at the board in school, looking so crazy doing so, rather than wear my glasses. I was stoked when my grandpa (my ophthalmologist) said I could wear contacts. And that's how it's been ever since. I have glasses but I never wear them. They are only in case of "omg my eye is going to fall out and I will go blind if I stick my contacts in my eyes" emergencies. Let's hope this day never comes.
18. I've never broken a bone. {knock on wood} And I'd like to keep it that way.
19. I've also never been stung by a bee. And I'd also like to keep it that way.
20. If I didn't have a job that forced me to get dressed in "real clothes", I would for sure wear sweatpants/yoga pants all day, everyday....even though I've never done yoga (except in college once and I hated it).
21. I don't really like talking on the phone. I'm not really sure why, but I much prefer texting. Impersonal, I know.
22. Two of my biggest fears in life are raw chicken and uncooked eggs. We cook them both a lot, but I literally obsess over the cleanliness in the kitchen if raw chicken is involved.
23. One of my other fears is the garbage disposal. Irrational? Maybe. I know it won't turn on unless I flip the switch, but I have this fear that if I stick my hand/finger in there to get something, it will turn on by itself and chop my finger off. I refuse. And make Seth do it. Another fear is bugs - especially spiders. I don't know how I ended up as a boy mom with this fear! I guess I better get used to them!
24. If I don't write it down, I won't remember it. I try to blame it on old age (ha) or pregnancy (or mom) brain, but honestly, I've always been like that. Which is why I carry my planner around 24-7!
25. Speaking of planners, I much prefer to have a paper planner than to use my phone. I used to use my phone and I swear it was deleting things (or maybe I forgot to input them? see #23 lol) so I got a real planner for Christmas last year. I love using pretty pens and washi tape and decorating it as well as using it for its function.
26. I don't like Pumpkin Spice Lattes. I know, I know. I'm like the only one in the whole world but I don't like the spicy-ness about them. I do love a good Caramel Apple Cider from Starbucks in the Fall though!
27. I fall asleep on the couch more often than I care to admit.
28. I can't cook. But Seth can and does. He can't bake. But I can and do.
29. I love chocolate. If I were to suddenly become allergic to it... I would just deal with it. And still eat chocolate.
30. I love being a mom. A boy mom at that! Seriously. I didn't know how much I would like being a mom until I was pregnant and had that special bond with Mason. A special bond that nobody else could ever have. And then I fell in love instantly with this little person that I had only known for 5 seconds. My greatest joy is watching him grow and learn and mature into the little man that he has become.
