Pumpkins!

Monday, October 29, 2012

We went to the pumpkin patch a couple weeks ago and I finally got around to having the pumpkin photo shoot with Mason and his mini pumpkin that I've been wanting to have. He wasn't too thrilled by the whole thing, but I kept trying to get him to smile. However, as you can tell by the last picture, the final score was Mason - 1, Mom - 0. lol.

Last night we finally decided to carve our pumpkins. Mason went to sleep slightly early so Seth and I decided to take the quiet time and carve the pumpkins since we thought it would be easier while he was sleeping. I carved Mason's while Seth looked for stencils for us. I decided on a Curious George one and Seth decided on an Angels "A" - go figure lol.

Once again I'm a little behind. Mason turned 3 months old on October 18th and he's getting so big! He's become so much fun lately as he is much more interactive and smiles so much. I think he can finally recognize our faces and our voices and just lights up when he sees us... either in the morning when he wakes up and we go to get him from his crib or when we pick him up from daycare. SO SWEET. I just love that litte face!

Pumpkin Patch

Looks like life has once again gotten in the way of me blogging more! I happen to have a little time right now before I have to leave for work so I thought I would quickly post a little something. Not last weekend, but the weekend before, we went to the pumpkin patch at Tanaka Farms. It is actually at the same place that we got married! They have pumpkins during Halloween, trees during Christmas, strawberries in the spring and watermelons in the summer.

We went with my sister and brother-in-law and my two nieces. Mason actually behaved very well and even posed nicely for some pictures which made mmmy very happy :) Here are the highlights!

Back to work! And so much more...

I've been meaning to blog for a while now but this whole blogging thing is a lot harder then I thought. Not the actual blogging part... but the finding time to blog part! (And the using my computer part because my keyboard is all messed up and spells every other word wrong because it doesn't recognize that I hit the key... but that's a whole other issue lol). So since I have to work late today and I already dropped Mason off at daycare (trying to get him in a routine so even though I go in at 11am today, I still wanted to drop him off at the same time), I thought I would catch up since so much has gone on :)

For Seth's dad's birthday, we got him tickets to the Angel game in September. He loves the Angels and we've been wanting to take Mason to a game before the season ends so we thought for his bday, he could come with us to Mason's first game! Our niece Emma also got to come along! It was so hot but we got tickets in the shaded area knowing that it would probably be so hot. We didn't want to sit in the sun and we definitely didn't want Mason in the sun. I carried Mason in the Ergo Baby carrier and it actually worked quite well. He was content in it for a while but once we sat down, he got a little squirmy (that and it is very hard for me to sit using that thing with him in it). We took him out and fed him and he was happy as can be. He actually fell asleep during part of the game too! We thought for sure we would have to leave early as either Mason or Emma wouldn't sit through the whole game but they both did GREAT and we stayed for the whole game!! Oh, and to top off our great day, the Angels won!

Not so happy to be in the car seat...

Mason turned 2 months old on September 18 and we took him to get her 2 month check up. The poor kid had to get shots and it was heartbreaking for Seth and I to see. The nurse gave him the oral shot first and he was fine. Then came the 2 leg shots... one in each leg. Shot # 1 was definitely a shock to Mason... he tensed up so quickly and was so shocked and in pain that it looked like he wanted to cry so hard but no sound was coming out for a few seconds. Then came the cries. SO SAD. Seth had to look away and I teared up. But overall, he did GREAT! So much better than I thought. I quickly picked him up after his shots and comforted him and he was fine in a few minutes. We also found out that he is 22 inches long and weighs 11 lbs 15 oz! My big boy :)

Sunday, September 23 was the annual Race for the Cure at Fashion Island. Seth, Mason, my friend Vickie and I did the walk. I was actually shocked and so happy that Mason did so well! We had originally signed up for the 9:45am walk but it has been SO hot, so early lately that we decided we would do the 7:30am walk. Ordinarily, I would hate to wake up "so early" but "so early" has taken on a new meaning since I have a baby and 7:30am didn't seem so bad especially since it would be cooler. We woke Mason up at the last minute, changed him and put him in the car. When we got there, he had a minor meltdown because he was hungry so we changed him at the car and then I carried him to the walk start and then we fed him right before the walk started. Then we put him in the stroller and he was asleep on and off throughout the whole 5K and did great!

And alas... my final topic : back to work. I went back to work yesterday and I have to admit that it actually wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. First of all, wayyyyy back in July when I first went on maternity leave, I never thought October would come; it is soooooo far away! But then it became August... and then September... and then the last week of September and I had one week left at home with Mason! I first started stressing last week when I realized I had NO idea what I was going to wear to work since my maternity clothes are too big and my old clothes are still a little too small. Definitely problem #1. So I went shopping and found some stuff that will work for now! I labeled everything with Mason's name for daycare and got all his stuff ready on Sunday night. I packed my lunch and we were ready for Monday morning! Yesterday morning came around and Mason woke up a little earlier than I had hoped (4:30am instead of ideally 6am) but we worked with it and got everyone ready and out the door! I dropped Mason off at daycare at 7:10ish and headed to work. I must admit I was a little nervous to go back to work... for some reason it felt like I was going to a new job since I hadn't been there in so long but my first day was good! A little crazy but good! And today I get to go back and finish reading my 350 emails since I only read 4 yesterday :)

One last note : I'm SO excited fall is here! This weekend we are getting family photos taken, hopefully next weekend we can go to the pumpkin patch and then next month comes Thanksgiving and then Christmas and Hanukkah! So excited for the holidays and all the cute outfits I get to put Mason in :)
