[Stitch Fix] Fix #16

Goodness, it feels like it's been FOREVER since my last fix! But really it was just two months ago. It was completely unintentional, but I didn't realize how long it's been since my last fix back in May. In the grand scheme of things, obviously a couple months isn't that long, but I was getting them every month or so (and wanted them more often LOL) so two months seems like a long time!

Disclaimer before I start showing pictures... we just moved a little over a month and a half ago and the lighting is not the best inside our place and I didn't know where to go outside (and it was hotter than heck outside with what felt like humidity of 5000% so I didn't want to try to find somewhere), so I just went with the selfie in the mirror. Hopefully you can still get the gist of the gorgeousness of the clothes!

So, without further ado... let's get on with the reveal!

In case you haven't heard of Stitch Fix, it's basically a personal shopping service. You fill out your online profile by answering some questions about likes/dislikes, style, sizing, etc and then can write a note about what you're interested in as well as link a Pinterest style board to help your stylist know what you're looking for and what you're style is. Then your personal stylist gathers some items that she thinks you'd like and sends them to you. You try them on in the comfort of your own home and decide what you do and don't want to keep and then you have three days to send back whatever you don't want. Easy peasy! The styling fee is $20 and if you send back all the items, you lose the $20. If you keep one (or more) items, they deduct the $20 styling fee from your total and you pay the difference. And if you keep all five items, they deduct the $20 from the total and you get a 25% discount on all the items. Pretty great! If you're interested in signing up, if you want to use my referral code then I'll get small credit to my account and will be forever grateful.

A couple fixes ago, I had requested a new stylist. While I did like my old stylist, I felt like she was thisclose to nailing my actual style. I always liked the things she sent me, but they just weren't quite me. So, I requested Desiree's stylist, Raquel. I always LOVE everything that Desiree gets in her fixes and figured that if we had a similar style, that Raquel would surely hit the nail on the head for me too. And sure enough.... SHE DID! Check out my FIRST 5/5 fix here!

So now... on to my fix!

Kut from the Kloth | Celeste Pull On Fray Hem Shorts
Size : 10 | Color : Black | $48

You guys might remember my love affair with Kut from the Kloth when I previously shared my beloved Kut from the Kloth skinny jeans. It's no secret I am a HUGE fan of their jeans and shorts and I ask for them in every Stitch Fix box that I can in hopes that they will have some new item that I haven't tried yet. Well, Raquel delivered on these and I haven't tried them yet! When I first took them out of the box, I was excited about the brand (obviously) and I was excited that they were an elastic waistband! Let's be honest, stretchy pants are everyone's friend and if I can look cute and fashionable while being comfortable, sign. me. up. I really loved them, they actually fit really well, and I loved the frayed hem detail (see detail shot above), but they felt a little thin, they didn't have pockets, and I have some shorts that are VERY similar, so I ultimately decided it would be best to send them back.

Verdict : Returned.

Le Lis | Deria Woven Back Knit Top
Size : M | Color : Turquoise | $44

Holy gorgeous!!!! You guys. I have to break the bad news that I did return this amazingly, gorgeous top. Yes. I did. And I still regret it to this day. (I'm tryyyyyyyying to be good and not spend AS much money as I want to spend, so I limited myself to one item this fix. I'm already spending a fortune on Mason as it's his birthday this month too so maybe my fix delivery came at a bad time.) Either way, I have nothing bad to say about this top. Loved the color. Loved the mixed media. Loved the floral back. Loved that I could wear a real bra. LOVE LOVE LOVE.

Verdict : Returned.

Heartloom | Waverly Embroidery Detail Top

Size : M | Color : Blue | $68

When I took this out of the box, I wanted to love it. I loved the style of the shirt, the blue and white stripes, and the overall look. But when I put it on, it was a bit boxy and a bit more shear than I'd like. I'd definitely have to wear a tank top underneath and that's something I've sort of gotten away from lately since it's been so hot. These type of shirts are also hit or miss for me in the arm area, so while it was loose in the stomach region, it was a bit tight when I tried to move my arms and that just wouldn't work. In addition to the fit issues, I felt like it was a bit overpriced for what it was since the material was just ok and felt a bit thin and cheap.

Verdict : Returned.

RD Style | Eve Romper
Size : M | Color : Burgundy | $68

When I pulled this out of the box, my first thought was "gorgeous pattern and gorgeous color!". And then I saw it was a romper and I was skeptical. I wanted to keep an open mind though because it looked comfortable, so I tried it on. I was definitely right about it being gorgeous and I do still love the pattern, but I don't know if it's just how it was cut or because I'm 5' 6" and it's meant for shorter people, but the romper was a little... short in the front and was very tight on my... crotch, for lack of a better explanation. Also, from the back, I was pretty sure you could see my butt ESPECIALLY should I bend over. I felt slightly awkward about the fact that if I were to need to go to the bathroom, I'd basically have to take off the whole thing and would be totally naked, but was willing to over look that fact if it fit well, but it didn't and I sadly had to send it back.

Verdict : Returned.

Gilli | Ryland 2fer Maxi Dress

Size : M | Color : Light Pink | $78

Annnnnnnd... I saved the very best for last. THIS DRESS. Where is the heart eye emoji? 😍😍😍

I actually saw a very similar dress on Courtney's blog a couple months ago and was super bummed to find out it was maternity. I pinned it to my Pinterest board anyway in hopes that by some miracle there was a non-maternity option and there was! And I am in love. It looks black in the pictures, but the top portion is actually blue and the bottom is the most gorgeous peach/pink color with flowers. It's perfection. It's the perfect length for me and has a slit on one side so it makes it easy to walk in and it's just over all the best. I knew I was going to keep it the second I saw it in the box.

Verdict : KEPT!

Recap:

Kut from the Kloth | Celeste Pull On Fray Hem Shorts: Returned

Le Lis | Deria Woven Back Knit Top: Returned

Heartloom | Waverly Embroidery Detail Top: Returned

RD Style | Eve Romper: Returned

Gilli | Ryland 2fer Maxi Dress: Kept!

Well, a 1/5. Not the best, but not the worst! And mostly my fault that's it's only a one instead of a five. Raquel nailed my style this time and had there not been some fit issues and had I not put myself on a budget, I would have kept at least two more items! I'm thinking I might wait a couple months for my next fix and get one in September for my birthday. Maybe I'll get lucky and get some birthday money and then I can keep all five! 😉

Bring on my next fix!

Do you agree with my choices? Should I have kept anything that I sent back?

[Mailman Mason Monday] #postofficeadventuresofmasonb #part13

Monday, July 10, 2017

When I last left you, we had gotten through April 21, 2017. We had an event for work on April 23rd and again on June 4th, so today I wanted to share all of our post office adventures between the two events.

So, without further ado, here are the pictures that I've shared on Instagram as well as the captions (+ the emojis!) that I've shared from April 24, 2017 to May 30, 2017.

4.24.17 // We sent off some very important mail this morning... an RSVP for Anisa's wedding!
🎉💍✉️📮📬

4.30.17 // Post office weekend vibes. Needed to pick up a box to send a friend some stuff so naturally we had to see the mail truck line up! 🚐✉️📮📬

5.1.17 // Funny story... Mason is so used to mailing things that as soon as the ($18!!!) shipping label popped out, he ran over to the mail slot to drop it in. 😳 I've never screamed "NO NO NO NO!!!!!!" so loud in my life. Then the big package container was full so we had to ring the bell to drop off the packages and Mr. Impatient rang it twice in a matter of seconds. That poor mail lady. I apologized but thankfully she thinks Mason is cute so she wasn't mad. 😂 ps @thefamilysmith4 your package was sent this morning with love! 💙✉️📮📬

5.3.17 // I asked him how many postcards there were. He said 10. Not quite buddy, more like 10...
times 140. 😂✉️📮📬

5.4.17 // When your mail man pulls the truck in your cul-de-sac (which he never does! he parks on the street and walks), you stop on your way to ABA therapy (last night) and take a picture. Even if it means you're a few minutes late to therapy. 🙈🚐✉️📮📬

5.8.17 // Bet you can guess what happened next... 😳🌪✉️.
Happy Mailman Mason Monday! ✉️📮📬

5.10.17 // Sending some surprise mail to someone special! 📦✉️📮📬

5.15.17 // Before he started counting the mailboxes in front of him, he said to me, "Mommy, that mail box up there has a bandaid on it." That it does sweet boy, that it does. ✉️📮📬

5.17.17 // When your mom asks you to help and you just don't want to. 😂🙊
Someone has a case of the Wednesday's! 😜

5.19.17 // My happy little mail man is back!
Could be something to do with it being Friday! 🙌🏻🎉✉️📮📬

5.19.17 // On my way back to the post office for the third time today (yes, you read that right)... first time with Mason, second time without, and third time with. While I'm sure you'd love three post office pictures in one day (😂😂), I'll leave you with two because... YOU GUYS HE'S TALL ENOUGH TO REACH THE PO BOX ON HIS OWN. 😳 He asked for the keys this morning and stuck it in the key hole (that's our box!) by himself. He needed help turning the key because he couldn't quiiiiiiiite reach but holy cow. When did he get so tall?! 😭✉️📮📬

5.20.17 // One more from yesterday because... #mailtrucks . 🚐✉️📮📬

5.22.17 // Happy Mailman Mason Monday! The little mailman was excited to use the big mail box to return something to Old Navy this morning. 📦✉️📮📬

5.26.17 // One final stop at the post office and it's officially the weekend! Thank goodness.
Happy Friday! 🎉✉️📮📬

5.28.17 // Packing break to pick up the mail, go to work and process the mail, and drive to the distribution center to mail the mail one last time before our event next weekend. Holidays are great and all... until they fall on a Monday and mess up your mailing schedule. 🇱🇷✉️📮📬

5.30.17 // First order of business, check out the mailbox situation at the new house, of course.
😉✉️📮📬

A little back story... When we stopped doing the Picture Perfect Project last year, I stopped sharing Mason's post office pictures on the blog. I had deemed it my "photo project of the year" through the PPP and when it ended, I didn't stop taking pictures of him at the post office, but I forgot to share them here too. I was thinking about it the other day and I want to continue to share them here even though I don't technically "have a reason" to each month. So instead of sharing per month, I'm going to share per event cycle (for my work - essentially why we go to the post office so often). We have seven events per year and as the events approach, we go to the post office more often and as they pass, we go less often.

You can find more of our post office adventures on Instagram here.

Fourth of July Weekend.

Friday, July 7, 2017

Saying weekend makes me feel like this stuff all happened SO long ago, but really the fourth was only a couple days ago, on Tuesday, so it doesn't really seem like THAT long ago if I think of it that way.

Seth and I were both lucky enough to have a four day weekend (actually lucky Seth had a FIVE day weekend since last Friday was his Friday off), so we had quite the little celebration! We went in to the weekend with no real specific plans other than celebrating the fourth with a BBQ with family, but it ended up being quite a busy weekend.

Friday was for...

- work for me and school for Mason
- an oil change for Seth
- a text to me from Seth saying an airplane crashed on the freeway by the airport (thankfully everyone was ok!)
- a failed attempt at a haircut for Mason
- a trip to California Adventure since the weather was so nice and unusually cool for the summer
- churros and ice cream for dessert

Saturday was for...

- last minute ABA session cancellations
- a trip to IKEA
- an attempt at taking a cute fourth of July picture
- a certain child dumping the remains of the confetti from said "cute picture" over the edge and on to the roof of our apartment complex and me thinking we were going to get fined or evicted (I tried to clean it up as much as I could but most was out of reach!)
- a belated celebration of my brother in law and sister in law's anniversary

Sunday was for...

- slow mornings
- a belated birthday lunch for our friend, Vickie
- dropping Mason off with Nanny so we could go see The Book of Mormon in LA at the Pantages
- a trip to Target sans Mason to take some pictures of birthday gift ideas for grandparents and aunts/uncles
- getting pictures of Mason and his cousin, Addison, at dinner together

Monday was for...

- a Best Buy run, a Target run for fourth of July dessert supplies, and a Lowe's run
- dropping some stuff off at Nanny's house and checking her mail
- I'm sure more stuff, but I can't seem to remember due to the fact that I didn't take a picture #momfail #bloggerfail

Tuesday was for...

- celebrating America's birthday!

It was the perfect mini-vacation-away-from-the-real-world-and-work weekend. I didn't want it to end!

Hope you all had a great fourth as well!
