#postofficeadventuresofmasonb #part6 [The Picture Perfect Project : October]

Thursday, October 13, 2016

So, you guys, I originally thought I would only do a recap of my post office pictures every so often, but I think this is my thing. I think the #postofficeadventuresofmasonb IS my Picture Perfect Project of the year! So, bare with me, but I'm back again today sharing more post office pictures!

A little background on the hashtag...
This photo project kind of just came about a couple months ago. I was still working on my one photo a day when I started going to the post office more for work. I'd been doing the same thing, in the same routine, since I started my job in June 2015, but all of a sudden one random day before my January event this year (2016), I kept my envelopes to mail over night. The next morning, I let Mason do the mailing when we went to check the PO Box. I took a picture and did the same thing the next day and then... the hashtag was born. #postofficeadventuresofmasonb

It's quite possibly the longest hashtag ever, but I feel like it describes the situation perfectly. Taking Mason to the post office in the morning is always an adventure! It literally happened by chance but now it is one of my favorite things to do with him. It might seem like a hassle to some, to have to go to the post office to mail something, but for me, it's fun. I get so much joy out of seeing him so, so happy to do something so simple. I stand him up on the counter at the post office (I think my post office is one of the only ones with a counter like this as the one that is closest to my work only had one slot and no counter to stand on), but it works perfectly! Mason feels like SUCH a big boy and I have a big helper doing half my work for me ;)

I try to switch up the poses (and the outfits!) when I post all of Mason's post office adventures, just to keep things interesting. Now that it's summer, it has been easier :)

Here are the pictures that I've shared on Instagram as well as the captions (minus the emojis) that I've shared from September 9th until now.

(You can find Part 1 here and Part 2 here and Part 3 here and Part 4 here and Part 5 here)

09.19.16 // When you're an adult, the work doesn't stop, even on your birthday. Someone clearly wasn't mad about it. Look at that smile!

09.22.16 // Big post office, big mail truck. Little mail man, little mail truck.

09.23.16 // Picking out boxes to send some packages to some special people!

09.24.16 // Unexpected weekend trip to the post office to mail a package AND I let him push the buttons on the machine to buy our stamp!

09.26.16 // Another day, another online return. I swear I don't have a shopping addiction, the prices are just so much better online that I order too much and then return some!

09.26.16 // When the big package mail box is full and your mom lets you ring the door bell to hand the postal worker your box. Best Monday treat EVER! (Side note : he is looking WAY too big in this photo for my liking!)

09.26.16 // I know the post office pictures are abundant today, (don't hate me, I promise this is the last... for today) but when your outfit matches your favorite place, you have to document it, right? Right.

09.30.16 // Mason said Mr. Tow Truck wanted to check the mail with us this morning. And who am I to deny him that joy? So... along came Mr. Tow Truck!

10.03.16 // You guys. I can't even with this. Look at how tall he is!!! He is THISCLOSE  to being able to mail things on his own and almost doesn't need my help anymore! And right after I took this picture, he tried to climb on the counter by himself so he could get it in. So resourceful! (ps who spies our little tag along today? hint -- he's on the counter!)

10.04.16 // Cheesin' so hard his eyes are closed. His love for the post office runs deep.

10.04.16 // I don't normally pick Mason up on Tuesdays, Seth normally gets him after work, but today Seth had an early softball game so it's just me and the boy. Instead of going to the post office tomorrow morning, I decided to stop by on our way home. Not only did we get two PO trips today, but it's also Taco Tuesday AND #nationaltacoday AND we already had planned on making tacos for dinner. This Tuesday is shaping up to be pretty good! (picture from this morning. sadly it's not cool enough for sweatshirts in the afternoon yet.)

10.05.16 // We stopped by the post office this afternoon on our way home to mail my letters and I have to admit... I like the morning a lot better! There are WAY less people, WAY more mail trucks in the parking lot, and WAY less embarrassment on my part when trying to take pictures. BUT the afternoons aren't all bad. We saw the huge mail semi truck from the distribution center dropping off mail AND we saw a post office tow truck WITH mail trucks on the back!

10.06.16 // This little guy. I feel like I've been bragging on him a lot lately, but I just can't help it. The fact that he's had a speech delay has always worried me. Not because there was something 'wrong' with him, but because the majority of us use words to communicate. Mainly I was worried... how would he make friends? I feel like maybe this is a common worry for parents when they send their kids to preschool, but I was especially worried. But, as I am so often reminded, kids are AMAZING. Mason has a couple of good friends, as well as his cousins, who don't care one bit that he can't communicate with words as well as they can. They truly just LOVE playing together and ASK and REQUEST for him to come over. That right there, makes me SO happy. But then one more thing happened that made my mama heart burst in a million pieces. Yesterday, when I picked up Mason from school, we were walking out and I hear a little boy yell "BYE Mason!!!!" and Mason turns around and yells "BYE Dylan!!!". Words can't even describe how good that made me feel. The teachers told me that Mason and Dylan play well together but that confirmed it. I about started crying right then and there. My heart is so full.

10.07.16 // Happy Fri-YAY! Getting some work done this morning so we can enjoy the weekend!

10.10.16 // Today might be a holiday for the post office, but it's not a holiday for this little mail man!

10.11.16 // There was no mail in the PO Box this morning so Mason sent the mini mail truck off to go find some!

And there you have it!
How has your Picture Perfect Project been going?

Well, I have some sad news today. This is officially our last Picture Perfect Project link up. We've decided that with the holidays coming, we would be focusing on that instead of this link up, so today is our last day. BUT! Don't let that stop you from continuing on with your Picture Perfect Project! I mean, you know I won't stop taking pictures of Mason at the post office ;)

Here are the pictures that I've shared on Instagram as well as the captions (minus the emojis) that I've shared from August 11th until now.

(You can find Part 1 here and Part 2 here and Part 3 here and Part 4 here)

08.11.16 // "Mason, who is the mail for? Who's name is on the envelope?"
"ADDISON!"
Umm. Not really close but good try! Erin, looks like Addison gets mail at my work PO Box now!

08.12.16 // I had to mail a package that was too big for the slot and luckily the package bin was unlocked and... all of Mason's dreams came true.

08.22.16 // My online shopping has been a little crazy lately but I just can't resist the free shipping. Luckily they have free returns also and I have a cute package helper!

08.23.16 // Another day, another online shopping return!

08.26.16 // He always pushes the letters through the slot and then looks through the slot to see where it went. You can get a little glimpse of what's back there if you look hard enough. One day, buddy, one day you'll get to see that whole back room!

08.26.16 // I made his day this morning when I let him buy us more stamps. I let him push the buttons on the machine and insert my credit card. And then... he waited ever so patiently for the stamps to drop out of the machine and to grab the receipt for me. If you look closely, you can see his little arms out to the sides... SO EXCITED!

08.29.16 // Happy dance for Monday! At least one of us is excited.

08.31.16 // When you unknowingly book your hotel right next to a POST OFFICE!

09.01.16 // One more mail truck picture and then I promise I'm done! BUT when you see the BIG truck that you've been dying to get a picture with just sitting there, parked on the side of the street, you HAVE to take a picture. Ours are always locked up behind the fence and this one was just parked on the side of the road.... just asking to have its picture taken. I HAD to oblige, right?

09.06.16 // I put a hold on our mail while we were gone because I knew a couple packages were coming and I didn't want them left out while we were gone. Today the mail man dropped off all our mail from the past week... in a huge mail container! Mason couldn't wait to dig in and see if anything was for him!

And there you have it!
How has your Picture Perfect Project been going?

Don't forget, our next link up is Thursday, October 13th. So gather some photos between now and then and then link up with us on the 13th and show us what you've been up to!

Here are the pictures that I've shared on Instagram as well as the captions (minus the emojis) that I've shared from July 14th until now.
(You can find Part 1 here and Part 2 here and Part 3 here)

07.14.16 // He LOVES the self-service machine. LOVES. I swear if I gave him some money, I would have a never ending supply of stamps.

07.15.16 // Last post office trip as a three year old!

07.15.16 // Annnnnnd because I'm indecisive (and liked both pictures) AND there hasn't been a mail truck picture lately, THIS is his last post office picture as a three year old!

07.18.16 // First post office trip as a four year old! While I was busy pulling 65 envelopes out of our PO Box, Mason was busy opening all the big boxes looking for more presents to open...

07.22.16 // Today... he finally got to push the door bell! (Unlike last week when we didn't need to and he pushed it anyway and we ran away!) I had to return something and it was in a box that was too big for the slot so he pushed the bell, patiently waited, holding the box, and handed it to the lady when she came to the window. She said "thank you" and he said "bye!" He was so excited! Though I may have created a monster who wants to ring the bell every time now...

07.24.16 // I always knew there were mailboxes at Disneyland, but I had never seen this one. So when I saw @magic_kingdom_mamas post about this mailbox the other day, I knew I HAD to show Mason. So... in a few days, a letter from Mickey will be arriving at our house for Mason!

07.25.16 // Here comes trouble...
"Now how exactly do I open this thing? If I lift this lever right here..."

07.26.16 // Yesterday he tried to break into the mail trucks. Today he tried to break into the package boxes. But, on the plus side, we didn't door bell ditch anyone and we got to see a mailman loading his truck, so all in all, it was a good morning!

07.29.16 // The day that he'd been waiting 10 weeks for finally came... MAILING DAY! It is a very happy friday indeed!

07.31.16 // We've been house hunting more seriously lately vs just casually looking at houses online and we went to see one this afternoon that we loved. To no one's surprise, the mailboxes were Mason's favorite part!
08.04.16 // After a small bout with sickness earlier this week, we're all feeling better and we're back to our daily routine! Someone wasn't mad about it.

08.05.16 // No letters to mail. No mail in the box. So he's on a mission to find some of his own! Thank goodness my key doesn't open other boxes!

08.08.16 // Big helper filling our box with all the mail from the PO Box this morning!

08.09.16 // I'm pretty sure he would stay here all day if I'd let him.

08.10.16 // Every time I try to mail a package, this box is locked (or too full it doesn't open). The past couple days it's been wide open and to my dismay, Mason likes to open and (slam it) shut. I literally have to pry him away. Today... it was locked but that didn't stop him from trying!

And there you have it!
How has your Picture Perfect Project been going?

Don't forget, our next link up is Thursday, September 8th. So gather some photos between now and then and then link up with us on the 11th and show us what you've been up to!
