[Birthday Week] Monday Take 2

Tuesday, July 16, 2013

Not sure what was going on yesterday but I was having issues. So here is...
Birthday Week : Monday - Take 2!

Today's birthday week topic is sleep. I don't know why but watching Mason sleep is one of my most favorite things to do. Don't get me wrong, I don't stare at him all the time when he's sleeping, but when I catch him on the monitor sleeping in a funny position, I have to take a picture. Or when that sweet boy falls asleep in the car, I have to take a picture. Or if he falls asleep in the stroller, I have to take a picture. I just have to :) Here are some of my favorites!

Mason's very first sleeping picture
at the hospital - only a few days old

His favorite and first sleeping place when we got home.
His swing.

It was hot in July 2012...
The thinker.

His second ever sleeping place.
The bassinet in the pack n play.

He loves sleeping!
Happy dreams.

At 2 1/4 months he moved to sleeping outside of the bassinet
and in the pack n play.

And at 2 1/2 months, he graduated to sleeping in his own room!
In his crib!

Snuck the thumb out from the swaddle.

Arm freedom! No more swaddle.

Arm out, sock off.

I came home from work one night and Seth showed me this. My baby. Sleeping on his STOMACH.
I FREAKED out but Seth assured me that he had been like this for hours and he was fine.
Seth freaked out enough for me before I got home. Though I continued to check on Mason every 3 seconds on the monitor. And this is how Mason has slept ever since...

Butt in the air.

It's so hot!

Crazy, crazy sleeper!
I love you so much sweet boy.

[Birthday Week] Sunday

Sunday, July 14, 2013

The countdown to Mason's FIRST birthday is officially on! I have kinda sorta been counting down from last Thursday (the official one week countdown) but I decided just to write about his actual birthday week. I have tons of stuff planned (mostly in my head but hoping to ACTUALLY do some of it) and I can't wait to share! I know, I know... he's turning ONE and won't remember any of this.
Cue my husband... who has been telling me this for months. Ever since I said I wanted to have a birthday party for him.
BUT, all rational aside, I'm going ahead with my plan :)

Today's topic... life before July 18th, 2012.

My last day of work was July 6th and I remember it like it was yesterday. I had been counting down the minutes ever since I found out that would be my last day. I like my job and all but I had all these visions of things I could do in my 2 weeks (or more? or less in my case...) before Mason would arrive. I secretly hoped that my doctor would tell me I had to go on leave sooner so I wouldn't have to work as long since it was like a hundred million degrees outside but I was also secretly hoping that I would work until my last day because I had SO much stuff to get ready at work before my 12 week absence.

So, alas, I made it until my last day of work and then freedom :) And this was my first project on my maternity leave :

my pregnancy scrapbook

the day we found out our family was growing to 3!

we told everyone by making pacifiers with their names on them.
we shipped my dad, Hallie and my brothers to them and told them NOT
to open until they were all together on Christmas Eve

It's a BOY

my last official weekly picture before Mason was born

July 23rd. My due date.
I would have been 40 weeks that day.
Mason was 5 days old.

I spent the first 2 days of my leave starting and finishing (minus the last 2 pictures) this scrapbook. Then what? Well, lucky for me, and unlucky for my husband, Nordstrom was having their annual sale! So, what's a girl to do? I took a day and went shopping with my friend Vickie and her friend Nicole and we got lunch and pedicures. AMAZING day.

The rest of the time, I pretty much just hung out at home since it was a million trillion degrees outside and I was feeling huge and uncomfortable and I'm pretty sure Mason had some how lodged his foot in my ribs. I got my daily TV schedule down pretty good as well.

7am-9am : Good Morning America
9am-10am : Live with Kelly and Michael
10am-11am : The View
11am-12pm : sometimes the news, sometimes whatever else I could find
12pm-1pm : The Chew
1pm-2pm : Good Afternoon America
2pm-3pm : General Hospital
3pm-4pm : Katie
4pm-5pm : Ellen

Around 5:30pm, Seth would come home and I usually had to turn on baseball :)

I still miss my daily lineup some days... lol.

Until tomorrow... when birthday week fun continues!

Independence Day Weekend

Sunday, July 7, 2013

Happy 4th of July weekend! Here is our weekend recap in pictures :

We went to Henderson, NV (just outside Vegas) for the 4th of July weekend.
This was the weather forecast.
We were NOT prepared for just how HOT 111 degrees is.

Off we go!
Mason was so excited to go visit his cousins and great aunts and uncles.

Luz texted me this sweet picture of Mason on the 4th.

THANKFULLY this did not happen!!

We played a little at Aunt Karen's house
after coming back from the pool
and before going out to dinner

Mason started to have a mini meltdown at dinner since he was tired
...but nothing a little Mickey Mouse Clubhouse couldn't fix!

He fell asleep in the car on the way home.
(Look at that sweet boy holding my sunglasses
and crossing his legs)
So Seth and I stopped in a parking lot on the side of the road
to watch the fireworks.

Day 2 in Vegas was spent swimming and hanging out
and then out to dinner to celebrate Elisabeth and Arne's wedding!
Top left : Playing with Auntie Sessy (Alexis). Top right : Auntie and Emma
Bottom : cousin love

Day 3 we went out to breakfast and then headed home!
With a pitstop at Alien Jerky in Baker... I've always wanted to go!

Sunday Funday afternoon was spent with family
Mason wore shoes for the very first time!
The jury is still out on whether he likes them or not.
Look at that stud in his shoes!

Then Mommy and Mason played with bubbles.
Mason's first time with bubbles!

To end the weekend, we went on a walk.
Mason couldn't make it all the way through the walk.
Poor little man's weekend tired him out!

Happy 4th of July weekend!

Weekend Recap

Monday, July 1, 2013

And what a weekend it was! At least for us... who usually do nothing exciting haha. AND I actually did my hair BOTH weekend days. For those of you know know me, you know that is a big deal! I usually just throw my hair up in a hair band with a head band and call it a day....for a couple reasons.

one. I feel guilty spending time doing my hair when I could be doing something with/for my family.
two. It's usually too dang hot to blow dry and then straighten my hair (this weekend in fact required the AC to be on in order for me to do my hair lol)

This weekend was two special events though and special events require "hair doing"!

Enough about my hair though...

Saturday

Mason slept in until 6:30am!
Hallelujah!

Then we turned on a little Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and this happened...
He started intently at the TV for a good 10 minutes!
Which is LONG time for a baby!

Then he took a nap.
But then we took him to get his 2nd haircut ever.
And boy did he need it. See the top left picture?
What a little stud he is with his short hair!
But of course, I might be a little biased.

Then we went to the mall to look for this wallet that I wanted.
Then we wanted to stop for lunch and I remembered that Sandwich World closed and this place opened :
Which Wich
So we decided to try it. And it was super good!
They have your standard meats (turkey, roast beer, ham, etc) written on bags and you check mark what you want to add to your sandwich. Pretty cool! They custom make it for you. And it was actually reasonable priced.
Score.

It was my friend Vickie's birthday on Friday and we celebrated on Saturday night.
Seth was supposed to come too but we couldn't find a babysitter (aka family was all busy) so being the amazing husband that he is, he let me go and he stayed home with Mason.
We went to the Left Coast Brewing Co Tasting Room and then out to dinner at sushi.
Super fun.
And I felt bad for Seth because he totally would have loved it. I got a tasting platter thing where I got to pick 6 - 5oz beers to try. Great way to try things for cheap, especially since I don't know beers really ... the whole thing cost $10!

Sunday

Sunday we weren't so lucky... Mason woke up at his normal time of 6am. But lucky for me, Seth is amazing (I see a theme here... looks like it's my turn to be amazing soon! lol) and let me sleep in until 7am (sad that I think sleeping in is 7am...) and fed and played with Mason for an hour. We hung out for a while, ate breakfast, Mason napped, and then we got ready for a wedding that we were going to later. The wedding was in Laguna Beach and we only wanted one car there for the way back but since Seth was in the wedding, he had to be there early. We headed over to his dad's house to have lunch and for me to leave Seth there so his dad could drop him off at the venue and I could bring Mason later. We had lunch and watched some Angels game and then I came home and put Mason down for a nap. I got ready and then Mason woke up about 3pm and I got him ready and off we went!

Look at that handsome boy with his tie!

Overlooking the beach

The flower girl started crying and wouldn't throw the flowers so...
her mom goes "Seth! Throw the flowers!"
And flower girl Seth threw the flowers in the air!

How you keep a baby entertained at a wedding.

Mr. and Mrs.

Look at this stud!!! <3

Dancing with daddy

All in all the wedding was BEAUTIFUL! It was super hot but beautiful none the less. Mason did GREAT also and actually sat pretty still during the wedding. Seth's co-workers were also there so I talked to them (and they held the diaper bag and Mason too at one point - THANK YOU!!!) while Seth took pictures with the wedding party. He then joined us and we sat down for dinner and then Mason meltdown happened at 8pm and home we went!

It was a great, fun, eventful weekend!
