[Thoughts on Thursday] Confessions.

Thursday, August 25, 2016

I must confess...

... that when we were watching the Olympics the other night and the pole vault was on, I almost died of cuteness when the pole vaulter missed and Mason yelled "one more time!" like "it's ok! try again! you can do it. one more time!". Seriously. My heart almost burst right then and there.

... that I went through our cabinets and drawers the other day and threw away some things that had gotten pushed to the back and forgotten. I found some extra sauces from Chick-fil-A (I LOVE the Chick-fil-A sauce and Seth loves the honey mustard) and McDonald's (I love the BBQ sauce) that we had saved but I literally had no clue how long we'd had them for. Funny thing is, they don't have an expiration date on them (which should worry me in general) so really, even when you get them from the restaurant, you don't even know how old they are. Hence the reason they had to go.

... that when I found out that Betsy and Laura Jean weren't continuing their "Guys Behind the Blog" series, I was a bit sad! Today was supposed to be August's link up so I clicked over to find out what the questions were for this month and saw that July was their last month hosting. I loved interviewing Seth each month and asking him the questions. I definitely don't need to take on any more responsibilities BUT I love this link up so much that I'm thinking of continuing it... would anyone be interesting in linking up if I hosted? Or co-hosting? Was anyone still participating with them? I kind of don't want to commit myself to hosting another link up but I really liked this one!

... that a month ago, if you asked me what I wanted to for my birthday next month, I would have been able to name a bunch of things. But now? I have no clue! I'm hoping to do a little round up soon and hopefully I can think of something! Why is it that you always want tons of stuff when you don't need it but when it's birthday time or Christmas, you can't think of anything?

... that when I got a cut on my finger the other day and needed a band aid, I purposely reached for a Paw Patrol band aid. I claim I bought them for Mason and really, I did, but he rarely, if ever, uses band aids and I just... like the cute Paw Patrol ones (and the Cars ones when we had them) better than regular band aids. I use the excuse that it's because I have a kid, but really, I prefer them.

... that I drove to the Starbucks slightly farther away the other day JUST so I could go through the drive thru instead of parking and going inside.

... that I hate the middle spot at the Costco gas station. I can't parallel park to save my life so thankfully there's enough room to pull in forward, but I still hate it. I secretly inner cheered that the guy in the back spot left first the other night.

... and then the middle spot person left. So I pulled all the way forward and stopped in the middle (I'm cool with stopping in the middle, just not parking in the middle - don't ask - it's weird, I know) and seriously thought the person behind me should thank me.

Can you relate to any of my confessions?

I'm all for the drive-thru's. It just makes more sense. ;)

  3. I am absolutely down to co-host and would definitely join in every month if you found someone else! I loved that link up! I used to run into that gift problem all the time and then I started keeping a running Amazon wish list. My husband thanks for every special occasion for making his life easier! I forget what I put on there so it's still a surprise but always something I actually want and/or need! And I 100% agree with you about the middle spot. I always find myself crossing my fingers for a front or back spot and cringe when the middle spot opens and I am good at parallel parking! There is just something about that spot!

  4. I guess I should be glad we have smaller gas stations by us... No middle spots to worry about. I can't parallel park to save my life! And while Noah does wear band aids (even when not necessary) I still reach for the fun kid ones for myself too! So while I don't think I'm up to hosting the guys behind the blog, I'd be thrilled if you brought it back... I'd totally link up!!!

  5. I was so sad about guys behind the blog too!!! So I created my own series called "The Mike Drop" (on my blog today!) that I plan on continuing every month. I'd totally love to start a link up!!

  6. Definitely agree on the drive through and the middle spot at gas stations - same for the front spot if the back spot is still full! Well ours only have the two spots, but I can't parallel park either.

  7. Sweet Mason. :)
I have a running note in my phone - wish list - so whenever I think of something, I add it so I'm full of ideas and ready to go come birthday/Christmas, ha!! What can I say, I enjoy being spoiled every once in a while. ;)

  8. I never participated because I could never find the questions and then they would never post the link up when they say they would, at least when I checked...and then would remember a day or two later, hehe, oop! But I did like interview Mr. when I did get my act together. I guess I'm luck on the Costco front, I typically only go to the ones with two pumps each, phew...

  9. Ha! I love that you use the kid bandaids :) We have Frozen ones and they're definitely cute! I totally would've done the same thing with Starbucks. I much prefer the drive thru! Let me know if you want to do something like the guys behind the blog- I'd definitely be up for doing it with you. I always meant to join in but never knew the dates!

  12. McDonald's BBQ is so good but now you have me wondering how old that stuff is that's sitting there, waiting to me used.

  13. That was so sweet of Mason! I would totally co-host with you.

  14. Middle parking at the gas station? Like three nozzles spots? I've only ever seen two in a row. Middle sounds super complicated!
I think I forgot everything else...wait starbucks! Our local one doesn't have a drive thru and it is a bummer every time lol.
Chris got me Jane Austen bandaids in my stocking last Christmas and I have been waiting and waiting to use one but have not injured myself in any way!! I feel like I should be my hazardous with knives or something just so I can put one on. And I am so not sharing with Aria lol. Although she is just about out of her fun ones. She loves Paw Patrol bandaids =)

  15. I saw they canceled the link up, small tear. Not that Brian's complaining or anything lol. So I just got really good parallel parking in the last year, it feels super good to be able to do it but I will go out of my way to not have to! Mason is such a sweetheart.

  16. I have to drive reeeeeally far to get to the nearest Starbucks drive through. I usually use that as an excuse to drive Julia around so she takes a nap.
And I'm so bad about ideas when it comes to birthdays and Christmas. I'm so boring I usually just ask for gift cards - and that way I know I'm buying something I want/will use (I wish I could insert the monkey-that-covers-his-eyes emoji here)!

  17. If kids are in the car, it's always acceptable to drive farther for a drive thru. Always!

  18. Oh Mason! That melts me. So dang cute! I sure hope there is enough interest for Guys Behind the Blog. It was one of my favorites, too!

  19. You have Paw Patrol bandaids, I have Avengers bandaids & I love them & actually get excited when I need to use one. I feel like The Hulk when I'm wearing one of his bandaids. Tee hee!
