[Stitch Fix] Fix #6 + a HUGE $700 Stitch Fix Giveaway!

Wednesday, June 1, 2016

I'm late on the Stitch Fix blogging train again this month, but for good reason! You can probably already tell from by the title of this post, but there's a HUGE giveaway at the end of today's post! Don't forget to read all the way to the bottom to enter the giveaway!

I got this fix almost a month ago and I'm embarrassed that it's taken me so long to blog it. I really should sit down and do it right after I get it because I can always remember fit/style preferences and issues best right after the fact. But, alas, again life got in the way. #bloggerproblems

Regardless, I'm sharing now! And I convinced my trusty photographer to take my pictures again, so we have some "better than mirror selfie" quality photos again :)

In case you haven't heard of Stitch Fix, it's basically a personal shopping service. You fill out your online profile by answering some questions about likes/dislikes, style, sizing, etc and then can write a note about what you're interested in as well as link a Pinterest style board to help your stylist know what you're looking for and what you're style is. Then your personal stylist gathers some items that she thinks you'd like and sends them to you. You try them on in the comfort of your own home and decide what you do and don't want to keep and then you have three days to send back whatever you don't want. Easy peasy! The styling fee is $20 and if you send back all the items, you lose the $20. If you keep one (or more) items, they deduct the $20 styling fee from your total and you pay the difference. And if you keep all five items, they deduct the $20 from the total and you get a 25% discount on all the items. Pretty great! If you're interested in signing up, if you want to use my referral code then I'll get small credit to my account and will be forever grateful.

This fix... like my past couple fixes, I wasn't 100% sure about. When I opened the box, at first I was excited but then I was a little worried because... pattern. But, they say don't judge a book by it's cover (or a fix by it's... first glance?) so I took the clothes out, looked at my style card, and tried them on. And to my surprise... I liked a lot of the things!

So, now... on to my fix! I normally try to include as much information as possible in case my stylist (hi Amy!) reads my blog and/or in case I could help other's with sizing and stuff for their potential future fixes, but let me know if you have any additional questions.

Kut from the Kloth | Jaylon Pinstripe Denim Shorts
Color : Navy | Size : 10 | $68

I was actually kind of pleasantly surprised to get another pair of shorts in this fix. I mean, I had asked my stylist for another pair of shorts, but you never know what they have in stock, so I was excited to see that she had found one for me to try. These shorts were the same brand as my most favorite shorts ever so I was excited to see if they would fit the same. To my dismay, they didn't. I feel like the picture doesn't quite do them justice - they were cute! They were a pinstripe pattern and were pretty comfortable, but I just didn't think they were flattering on me and they were a little tighter than the jean shorts were, even though they were the same brand and size. They didn't fit the same as the jean shorts did and just didn't do anything for me. I think if I am to try more shorts, I'd prefer more jean shorts or possible ones that are colored and slightly shorter and looser around the leg area.

Verdict : Returned.

Skies are Blue | Delacour Crochet Inset Top

Color : Green | Size : M | $48

I had mixed feelings about this shirt. When I first saw it in the box, I liked the color, but was worried about how the fit would be. Shirts like this often don't fit me because of the sleeves (when I try to move my arms, it feels too tight and like I will rip the sleeves off if I need to pick Mason up or lift my arms above my head), but when I put it on, I was pleasantly surprised. I was able to move my arms freely in this shirt so that was a bonus! The color and the patterns and the detailing on this shirt was my favorite, but there was something about the sleeves that I didn't like. I wish they were a bit more fitted and not so "wide sleeve" if you will. Or I wish they were short sleeves or full long sleeves. Regardless, it was the sleeves that did it for me.

Verdict : Returned.

Brixon Ivy | Levi Dress

Color : Black | Size : M | $68

This dress. I was surprised to see two dresses in my fix - this one and the one below. I pretty much had my mind set on returning it until I... tried it on and showed Seth. He immediately said that the dress was gorgeous and was I going to wear it to the wedding we're going to in July. Umm? I hadn't even thought of that! So I grabbed a necklace and put on my high heels and it was perfect! I just need to find a black shawl or sweater of some sort and it will be perfect. This was the first time ever that my husband actually encouraged me to keep something!

The dress was so comfortable and flattering and the black and white color and pattern was perfect. And I especially, especially love the pockets! I love wearing dresses but am always so annoyed when they don't have pockets so this dress was definitely a winner!

Verdict : Kept.

Skies are Blue | Cecillo Crochet Front Knit Top

Color : Fuchsia | Size : M | $54

I liked everything about this shirt except for the large strip of crochet detailing down the front of the shirt and that it was a tad shorter than I typically like my shirts to be. The color was a little brighter than what I normally wear (but that's a good thing - I love when Stitch Fix gets me out of my comfort zone) and I loved the crochet detailing. The crochet on the back and around the collar area was gorgeous - definitely my favorite part of the shirt other than the fact that the shirt was insanely soft and comfortable. But there was just something about the front strip down the stomach area that I found to be unflattering. I felt like it attracted attention to an area that I like to detract attention from and that is something I can't "learn to love".

Verdict : Returned.

Gilli | Tom Maxi Dress

Color : Black | Size : M | $78

I knew I loved this dress from the second that I saw it. How does that song go? "I knew I loved you before I met you..." (yes, I am a child of the 90's - boy bands all the way! lol). It was really love at first sight. I had been pinning this type of dress like a mad woman on my Pinterest board so I was SO excited to see that my stylist had found me one. I immediately loved the black top portion and the pattern on the bottom portion. And an added bonus? The gorgeous back detailing - a little sexy without being too sexy.

In fact, I love this dress so much that I've already worn it a bunch since I got it - once to the Elevate blog conference and once to the rehearsal and rehearsal dinner for the wedding I was in last weekend. And those were just the photographed times I've worn it. Really this dress is perfection. It is so comfortable and flattering and I know it will be staple in my wardrobe for the summer (and even in to the Fall - it looks great with a jean jacket!).

Verdict : Kept.

So, if you're keeping track, overall, I ended up keeping 2 out of my 5 items! I had fully planned on only keeping the one maxi dress but when Seth basically told me that I had to keep the other dress, I had to oblige. I feel good about the decisions I made this fix and, as always, I'm excited for my next fix to arrive!

So, tell me... do you agree with my choices? Would you have kept any of the items?

But that's not all! Today I'm super excited to share my love of Stitch Fix with you with an amazing giveaway for a gift card to try Stitch Fix for yourself! Summer is coming and how great would it be to ring in the new season with a new wardrobe of clothes? I'm so excited to have partnered with other Stitch Fix bloggers to bring you this amazing $700 Stitch Fix giveaway!

  12. I love both dresses. They are perfection on you. I'm bummed the shorts didn't work for you. They looked cute, but I have very strong feelings about how my shorts are too, so I understand not liking them. The pink shirt was pretty, but for me the struggle is buying a t-shirt for that price. :/ You made great choices girl!

  28. I'm pretty sure the maxi I got was gilli too. Perfection. I'd take that one too! I've worn mine about 302 times already. And the other dress is amazing on you - no wonder Seth made you keep it! I liked the mid length sleeve top on you as well, too bad the sleeves were off.
