Regardless, I'm sharing now! This month I also got a new photographer (and spoiler alert : it's not me, my iPhone, and my mirror!) so hopefully you like pictures!
In case you haven't heard of Stitch Fix, it's basically a personal shopping service. You fill out your online profile by answering some questions about likes/dislikes, style, sizing, etc and then can write a note about what you're interested in as well as link a Pinterest style board to help your stylist know what you're looking for and what you're style is. Then your personal stylist gathers some items that she thinks you'd like and sends them to you. You try them on in the comfort of your own home and decide what you do and don't want to keep and then you have three days to send back whatever you don't want. Easy peasy! The styling fee is $20 and if you send back all the items, you lose the $20. If you keep one (or more) items, they deduct the $20 styling fee from your total and you pay the difference. And if you keep all five items, they deduct the $20 from the total and you get a 25% discount on all the items. Pretty great! If you're interested in signing up, if you want to use my referral code then I'll get small credit to my account and will be forever grateful.
This fix... like my past couple fixes, I wasn't 100% sure about. When I opened the box, at first I was excited but then I was a little worried because... pattern. But, they say don't judge a book by it's cover (or a fix by it's... first glance?) so I took the clothes out, looked at my style card, and tried them on. And to my surprise... I liked almost everything!
So, now... on to my fix! I normally try to include as much information as possible in case my stylist (hi Amy!) reads my blog and/or in case I could help other's with sizing and stuff for their potential future fixes, but I seem to have misplaced the receipt they send with the fix so I don't have prices this time. I'm not sure that it really matters, but just a little disclaimer.
Market & Spruce | Careen V-Neck Dolman Knit Top | Size : M
Did someone say dolman? If you don't know about my love for the dolman style, you should reference here and here, because literally, if it has the word 'dolman' in the name, I'm pretty much keeping it. The only exception was here when I felt that the material wasn't good enough quality for the money. But anyway, back to the dolman. I loved that this dolman was gray. The other ones that I have are blue with black stripes and solid black, so the color being different (albeit another neutral color) was already on it's way to winning my heart over. Then I tried it on, and I was sold. I will admit, it is not the most exciting shirt ever, BUT it is one of the most comfortable and one of the most flattering styles I've ever worn, so in to my closet it went.
Verdict : Kept.
Market & Spruce | Elaine Ikat Print Pocket-Front Knit Shirt | Size : M
Market & Spruce is the maker of all the dolmans that I LOVE so I had high hopes for this shirt. At first glance, I didn't love the pattern, but again, I didn't want to rule it out without trying it on. So I tried it on... and ruled it out. The pattern wasn't what pushed me over the edge though, it was the fit. I felt like it didn't "do anything for me" and kind of hung poorly. I didn't like that it was longer in the front than in the back (isn't the style the opposite?) and felt like it was too boxy. It was, however, VERY soft, so it had that going for it, but I didn't like the material enough to overlook the fit issues.
Verdict : Returned.
Kut from Kloth | Corynne Distressed Boyfriend Short | Size : 10
Shorts. Yes, shorts. In this fix I had asked for more warmer weather clothes. At the point that I got the fix, the weather was crazy hot (think 80's in February) and I figured summer was on the horizon in California. I normally don't wear shorts, even in the summer, EVER but sometimes it is just THAT hot that you need shorts. Plus, now that I have work events outside, when it is 100+ degrees in the summer, I just can't stand to wear jeans and no matter how white my legs are, I will wear shorts. I saw some 'Dear John' shorts on Pinterest and pinned a bunch for my stylist to see, but she said they didn't have any in stock. I was a little bummed until I tried these Kut from Kloth shorts on...
I LOVED THESE SHORTS. LOVED. And I've never said that about any shorts EVER before. (Can you tell that I kept the shorts???) When I put them on, I immediately loved the material. Now while they are denim material, they are a softer denim. I don't quite know how to explain it, but they were so comfortable. I loved the length, I loved the material, and I loved the slight distressing. I felt that they were so flattering, especially on my (ahem) butt and legs. I don't even know what else to say, but these shorts were perfection.
Verdict : Kept.
Loveappella | Carlita Jersey Maxi Dress | Size : M
In my fix, I had asked for a dress, preferably a maxi dress. Like I mentioned above, I don't overly love my legs and they are very white, so I usually steer clear of shorter dresses (though sometimes when it's 100 degrees, you just have to - like with the shorts). I had pinned a few different styles that I liked - most of them being plain on the top, pattern on the bottom, and having short sleeves. I prefer to wear a real bra (vs strapless) whenever possible, so I'd prefer my dresses to have either thicker straps or short sleeves. Unfortunately, I guess they didn't have any of those styles, so my stylist sent me this Loveappella dress. At first glance, my first thought was "HOLY PATTERN", but once I tried it on, I liked it a lot more. In fact, looking back on this picture kind of makes me wish I kept it. Kind of.
I've never worn so much pattern probably since I was 10. I don't know why, but I feel like patterns like this are so loud and make me stand out, and I don't really like all the attention. But once I tried it on, it was so comfortable that I forgot how much pattern it was. I don't know if you've ever worn a Loveappella shirt or dress, but the material is SO SOFT and so comfortable. I did find that the dress was a little low cut for my liking but I had a little white bandeau that I wore under it and it covered me up nicely. My main problem with this dress was the sleeves though - or lack there of. It was tank top style and I definitely couldn't wear a real bra with it.
I was on the fence about this dress but ultimately decided to return it because of the strap issue and because of the price. I don't have the paper to refer to for the exact pricing but I think it was $78 and I didn't think I would get $78 worth of wear out of it. But, I will tell you, this dress made me realize that I need to not be so closed minded about patterns because I loved the look of this dress once I put it on!
Verdict : Returned.
Liverpool | Kolten Denim Jacket | Size : M/10
I had asked for a blue denim jacket in my fix because I thought it would look cute over some of the maxi dresses that I already have for when it's warm during the day but still cold in the morning. Unfortunately they didn't have any blue denim jackets so my stylist sent me a black denim jacket. At first I was disappointed, especially since most of my maxis are navy blue or black and I didn't think that a black jacket would be the best choice. Once I tried it on though, I almost changed my mind. This was one of the most comfortable jackets I've ever tried on. With jackets, I almost always have the problem with moving my arms. You know, when your jacket fits when your arms are down but when you lift them (or lift your child), you feel like you are going to rip the jacket. No? Just me? Well anyway, I have the hardest time finding a jacket that fits with my arms down and with raising my arms. This jacket did just that! It had the right amount of stretch that it was comfortable, but was just enough denim to give me that part of the style that I was looking for.
Ultimately it was the price that made me send it back (it was $98!) and the fact that I didn't think i would wear it as often as I originally thought to make spending the money worthwhile.
Verdict : Returned.
So, if you're keeping track, overall, I ended up keeping 2 out of my 5 items! (And it was almost a 4 out of 5 except for a few things!). I kind of regret sending the dress back, but I do feel good about my choices! And, as always, I'm excited for my next fix to arrive!
So, tell me... do you agree with my choices? Would you have kept any of the items?

I love the two things you kept. They both looked great on you. I loved the dress too, but if you aren't comfortable with something there's no way you will wear it. I'm all about the fun and pattern, but can see why someone might not be. You did well my friend.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great fix!!! I love the things you kept... Those shorts look great on you! I personally loved the dress and the jacket on you, but I totally understand your reasoning. I think you should be able to find similar pieces at a gap/old navy/loft for cheaper when they have one of their many sales. No point compromising when both of those pieces are very in right now and available at other stores.
ReplyDeleteEverything looks so cute on you. Great choices!
ReplyDeleteThe things you kept are great! I tend not to wear shorts either, although this summer I'm trying to step out of my comfort zone!
ReplyDeleteMan it is a bummer that the jacket and dress were so pricey. Both of them were SUPER cute but yeah, totally not worth those price tags.
ReplyDeleteWhile everything looks great on you, I agree with your choices!! That is pricey for a maxi dress. I am not a fan of shorts either, but I am loving those!
ReplyDeleteThose shorts look so good on you!! I have the worst luck finding short because I have thick legs... thanks Mom ;)
ReplyDeleteBut I love the top you kept. It looks like a Liz shirt.
I got a fix a couple weeks ago that I still need to blog! Love, love, love those shorts on you! I'm so glad you kept them! The dress and jacket are cute, but I'm with you on the cost. Just not worth it.
ReplyDeleteAw I think you should've kept the dress - it looks great on you! Don't be afraid of pattern, girl!!!
ReplyDeleteI think that dress looked so great on you! LOVE those shorts and dolman...always a keeper! :)
ReplyDeleteLove that you are so honest!! Those shorts are super cute & that dress was beyond adorable but holy moly price tag!!!
ReplyDeleteAlso, I know that purple shirt was already your's but it is way cute on you-style & color!!
I agree with you on pretty much everything! I think that maxi looked great on you, but understand returning with that price tag. Seeing your sun and palm trees makes me so anxious to wear warmer weather clothes! (Hopefully soon but who knows with this crazy WI weather)
ReplyDeleteI loved that dress on you, I thought it looked great. I actually like everything in that shipment except for the shorts but I know that stuff is a pretty penny from there so I think what you kept was a good call. :)
ReplyDeleteI couldn't agree more, great keeps!! Oh, I was hoping you kept those shorts, they look great!! Haha jackets - my denim jacket feels like I'm going to hulk rip the sleeves off when I left my arms, so I always end up singing, 'fat girl in a little coat!!' to myself when I wear it. LOL :)
ReplyDeleteI think you look amazing in everything! That dress is super cute on you! And it doesn't look all that crazy busy to me. I'm loving the black jacket! I might need to request that in my next fix!
ReplyDeleteI think you looked great in every piece!! I'm totally bummed you returned the maxi, it looked so great on!!
ReplyDeleteLet's really talk about those shorts. Because I need them. ASAP. They look great, and by your description, sound all sorts of comfortable.
And the jacket. I loved it on, too. Jackets with the right amount of stretch are near impossible to find! Bummer it was black... Maybe next fix??
I'm already looking forward to your next fix!
Saw this picture on IG... you are seriously so cute! Just had to get that out of the way, ha ha!
ReplyDeleteI love what you kept!! I'm so tempted to start my own stitch fix!
I LOVE the shorts, too! So, so cute! I loved the jacket, but the price is wrong for sure!
ReplyDeleteI love that dress (in general and on you)! I may just request it for my next fix. And those shirts are perfect. I'm not a big shorts person either, but one pair is necessary.
ReplyDeleteI actually love that dress on you! But you can probably get similar versions for way cheaper!
ReplyDeleteEvelina @ Fortunate House
I got the exact same Market &Spruce top in my fix this week and didn't like the fit one bit. Returned!
ReplyDeleteThose are some steep prices on commonly found items, though I loved that maxi on you! And Im pretty sure you can never have too many striped shirts.
ReplyDeleteThey killed this fix for you! I loved everything! I'm glad you kept those shorts, I have ones like that and they are my go-to pair! I understand why you didn't keep that dress, but it fit oyu so perfectly! Good job to stitch fix!
ReplyDeleteI love that maxi on you! Can't believe you didn't keep it.
ReplyDeleteDammit Liz that dress looks great on you! Too bad about the straps, I hate having to make sure my bra is covered and I don't even own a strapless bra because I hate them. But you can't tell with your hair =) I love it with the jacket too. It looked great on you as well. That price though, take my breath away. When I got my fix I knew they were pricey but man seeing each item and each price is a bit whoa. I got those shorts but in white, I would have kept them in any other color but white. I would absolutely sit in something disgusting 4 seconds after wearing white on my butt. They were so soft though, I was bummed about the white. Loooove them on you. Make your legs look great, even super white =) I can't do pants in the summer in FL, I can barely do pants in the winter lol. Great fix for you, other than that pinkish top. That was just odd, esp the length disparity. Whats wrong with a uniform length I ask!
