[Stitch Fix] Fix #2

Tuesday, November 3, 2015

I know, I know, ANOTHER Stitch Fix so soon? The answer is yes. After my first fix, I was so excited, I just couldn't wait, so I scheduled another one to arrive shortly after I got back from vacation (which might or might not have been a good and bad idea. I'm pretty sure things don't quite fit the same way they did pre-vacation. Oops.) Even though I didn't end up keeping anything from the first box, my stylist hit all of the styles that I like so I wanted to get in another fix to see if I could find some things I'd like to keep.

In case you haven't heard of Stitch Fix, it's basically a personal shopping service. You fill out your online profile by answering some questions about likes/dislikes, style, sizing, etc and then can write a note about what you're interested in as well as link a Pinterest style board to help your stylist know what you're looking for and what you're style is. Then your personal stylist gathers some items that she thinks you'd like and sends them to you. You try them on in the comfort of your own home and decide what you do and don't want to keep and then you have three days to send back whatever you don't want. Easy peasy! The styling fee is $20 and if you send back all the items, you lose the $20. If you keep one (or more) items, they deduct the $20 styling fee from your total and you pay the difference. And if you keep all five items, they deduct the $20 from the total and you get a 25% discount on all the items. Pretty great! If you're interested in signing up, if you want to use my referral code then I'll get small credit to my account and would be forever grateful.

This time, I tried a new location in my house to take the  pictures and I'm hoping the light is better. The light in my house overall is awful, but I'm hoping this is at least better than my awful bedroom light and my messy bed in the background.

Now... on to my fix! (I decided to include as much information as possible in case my stylist (hi Amy!) reads my blog and/or in case I could help other's with sizing and stuff for their potential future fixes)

Liverpool | Collen Straight Leg Jean | Size : 10 | $78.00

I was super excited to see another pair of jeans in my fix. I really loved the jeans from my last fix but I felt like they were a little tight. These ones fit tighter too but not too tight but honestly, I think that's probably the way jeans are supposed to fit. I'm a little self conscious of my mid section so I think I tend to lean towards baggier things so I don't feel like "muffin top" when I sit down. However, I LOVE the way these jeans look with looser tops (especially with the tops that I'm keeping) and I think that's more of the style I'm looking for than my looser fitting jeans. Being so fitted, I feel a little self conscious in the jeans since they are even tighter on my legs than I'm used to, but I decided to keep them anyway. They are a little long but I kind of like the rolled up look. You can see more of it below in the other pictures as well. I'd definitely like to keep getting at least one pair of jeans in my fixes for a while to be able to build up my jean wardrobe.

Verdict : Kept.

Fun2Fun | Mayer V-Neck Top | Size : M | $48.00

When I first saw this shirt in my fix, I wasn't excited. The pattern is a little more than I'm used to and I just didn't think it was my style. However, when I put it on, I didn't hate it. I'm not keeping it though mainly because of the fit. It's one of those fitted shirts that you have to put on over your head and when I try to move my arms, it felt a little tight. With a three year old to chase after and pick up, I can't be worrying about my sleeve ripping, so ultimately I decided to return it. I have this problem sometimes with jackets as well which is why I stick to cardigans and sweaters and sweatshirts more. I liked the idea of the shirt though. I liked the sleeve length and the weight of the shirt. I also liked the style of the shirt with the v-neck and the stripe down the front, but the arm thing is what did it for me.

Verdict : Returned.

Papermoon | Morenna Fit and Flare Dress | Size : M | $68.00

[Stitch Fix] Papermoon Morenna Fit and Flare Dress - Grey

I'm definitely not against getting dresses in my fix but I will admit that when I saw this in my fix, I was a little disappointed. My work is SUPER casual now and I just didn't know when I would wear it. Nevertheless, I wanted to try it on anyway. I actually really love the pattern, but it was a bit itchy. I also felt like it was a little bit short for my liking. Ultimately I didn't know how often I would wear it and because of the itchiness factor, I decided to send it back.

Verdict : Returned.

Market & Spruce | Corinna Striped Dolman Top | Size : M | $48.00

When I saw this in the box, I was excited and a little worried. I usually shy away from stripes, but when I tried this shirt on, I LOVED it. It is the dolman style that I love and had been wanting to try and it is a really pretty blue color with black stripes. I found it to be very flattering and hit in all the right areas. The sleeves were a little bit tight at the bottom, but I don't mind enough it enough to make me dislike the shirt. I especially loved the shirt with the jeans which is why I kept them too. The style of this shirt is totally my style. And the color is on point. While I don't want a whole closet of dolman shirts, I'd definitely be interested in getting another shirt like this in the future.

Verdict : Kept.

Pixley | Martina Slub Knit Open Cardigan | Size : M | $48.00

THIS. I was most excited about this cardigan! It's totally my style and I LOVE the burgundy color! The material is soft and the fit is perfect. It's kind of hard to explain but the sides are longer than the back and I love the style of it. I thought there were pockets but they're more like full side pockets as they go all the way up to the collar but I love that there is a place to put my hands. I can't say enough good things about this cardigan! In fact, I sneak peek snap chatted this cardigan the other day and multiple people told me that they have it in a different color and they love it. I was already planning on keeping it, but that solidified my decision. I feel like it's no surprise that I liked this cardigan because the shirt that I really liked (but was too big) in my first fix was by Pixley too.

Verdict : Kept.

So, overall, I ended up keeping 3 out of my 5 items! This fix was definitely a success! My stylist, Amy, did an excellent job on this fix and I can't wait for my next one! The next one definitely won't be coming anytime soon though because after all the money I spent on this fix, my bank account needs a little break :) BUT there definitely will be another one and I can't wait!

Do you agree with my choices? Would you have kept any of the items?

  9. LOVE those jeans on you and love the stuff you kept! I would have returned the dress too for the itchy factor alone, I really liked that v-neck top that you sent back but the pattern was a little over the top eh? Glad you were able to keep a few items from this fix!

  10. I have worn my corinna sweater to death. I think it was one of the first things I got and kept and I seriously have worn it all seasons. I should just ask for another at this point, I love the color the sent you. The cardigan looks great on you and so do the jeans.. don't be self conscious about the tight fit, rock it, they look great!

  12. Great choices! I have the dolman top in grey and white and LOVE it.

  13. Love all the things you kept! I've had the same issue with the arms or shoulders feeling tight in a lot of the Stitch Fix tops I've been sent. The weird thing is that the top will be baggy all over, but just tight in the shoulders... and I don't have broad shoulders, so it's weird? Anyway, great choices!!

  21. Love those three pieces!! I always get excited when they send jeans, too, because I am awful at buying them, so they do the work for me. : ) LOVE that striped top - I am totally pinning that for my next fix! I got my box last night and haven't tried anything on, but I am not that excited. :( Maybe I'll change my mind once I try stuff on...fun fun!!

  22. I think I have those same pair of jeans! Do they have an elastic waste band?? Love the cardi and the dolman top on you! Great choices! I also love the dress, but you're right, not worth keeping if you're never going to wear it! Yay for a 3/5 fix!!
