[The Guys Behind the Blog] March.

Thursday, March 30, 2017

Welcome to March's Guys Behind the Blog link up!

As most of you might know, Betsy from Heavens to Betsy and Laura from According to Laura Jean hosted a series on their blogs called The Guys Behind the Blog. I used to link up as often as possible ever since I found out about the series - I think I only missed one month in the past year and a half since I found out about it. I recently went back to Betsy and Laura's blogs to find out what the questions were for August only to find out that they weren't hosting anymore - July was their last month. I was SO bummed! I truly loved interviewing Seth each month and seeing what questions they came up with. So, I decided to email Betsy and Laura and see if they would mind if I continued on their series. Thankfully they said they wouldn't mind and would be happy to see the series continue on. Crystal from Hall Around TexasEvelina from Fortunate HouseJamie from Cocktails and CarseatsJessica from Secrets of a Stay at Home Mom, and I are excited to continue the series on!

For March's link up, we decided to do something different and decided to do some "would you rather" questions.

1 // Would you rather have your dream job and make less money or have a job you hate but make tons of money?

Dream job, less money. I'd rather have a job that I love and not a job that I dread going to everyday, even if I make a little less money.

2 // Would you rather play a hero or a villain in a movie?

Both would be so much fun! Hmm. I still think I'd rather be the hero, but seriously, both would be so much fun!

3 // Would you rather always have to say everything on your mind or never be able to speak again?

I talk way too much to not be able to ever speak again. So, definitely speak my mind.

4 // Would you rather go back in time and meet your ancestors or go into the future to meet your great grandchildren?

Ohh. That's a good one. I think I'd rather go back in time. Plus, maybe I could tell them to invest in something really good and they could become rich and then pass it on to me and then I could have a job that I love and not have to worry about money.

5 // Would you rather swim in the Arctic Ocean with nothing but a swim suit (no wet suit) or walk through the desert in the middle of the summer having to wear sweat pants and a sweat shirt?

Desert with sweat pants and sweat shirt for sure. You can always take layers off.

Bonus Question:
6 // Would you rather live like a king but have no friends and family or be homeless with your friends and family?

Well, that's a terrible choice. But I'd definitely rather have friends and family.

***

You're probably wondering where April's questions are, right? Well, I regret to inform you that this is my last month hosting this link up. I've LOVED interviewing Seth over the past few months, but I just feel like my focus is not on my blog anymore and I'm trying to back away from any specific "required" blog days. So with that, I so appreciate everyone that has linked up with us in the past! I think a few of the girls are going to keep it going though, so pop around and see if next month's questions are posted yet!

***

A HUGE thank you to Betsy and Laura for letting Crystal, Evelina, Jamie, Jessica, and I continue on their series. It's been an honor to be able to continue on what they created.

You can find the original series on Betsy's blog here and Laura's blog here.

Thanks for playing along again, Seth!

[The Guys Behind the Blog] February.

Thursday, February 23, 2017

Welcome to February's Guys Behind the Blog link up!

For February, we decided to focus our questions on the theme of "love/Valentine's Day". Here are this month's questions and answers:

1 // Name two things your wife has taught you.

Seth: Looks at me confused.
Me: Have I not taught you anything?
Seth: About...?
Me: Whatever.
Seth: That I have a problem with putting a new trash bag in the trash can after taking out the trash and that I constantly leave cabinet doors open.

Truth.

2 // What was your favorite part of your wedding day?

Seth: When I got to see you for the first time.
Me: You'd never seen me before our wedding?
Seth: You know what I mean.
Seth: No, it was an arranged marriage. I saw you for the first time and was like "oh, you are pretty!"
Me: Rolls eyes.
Me: I think you mean "the first look".
Seth: Yes! That's it. And our reception. That was a pretty great party.

Agreed!

Seth: I can't even answer beer to this question! I didn't even get to drink my beer!

He's not bitter or anything... LOL!

3 // Valentines Day is usually more about the girl...but tell me, what is something YOU would love to receive on Valentine's day?

Seth: Beer.

(no surprise there!)

Seth: Valentine's Day is the day of love/beer.
Me: 😂😂😂

4 // What was the best date you and your wife ever had?

I wouldn't consider it a date per se, but our anniversary trip to Santa Barbara.
(here // here // and here)

And our honeymoon was pretty epic too.

5 // If money was no option and you could go anywhere in the world with just your spouse, where would you go and what would you do?

There are so many places! I'd have to say... since money is no object, we'd have a private plane to take us wherever we want to go. First stop, Bora Bora and we'd stay in one of those huts on the ocean.

He's a keeper! I want to do that SO BAD. Now who's going to pay for us to do this... any takers?

Bonus Questions:
6 // Valentine's Day - Hallmark Holiday or Real Holiday?

Seth: Thumbs down.
Me: I'll take that as a Hallmark holiday.

7 // What is your favorite romantic comedy movie?

Seth: I wouldn't say I have a favorite, but I enjoyed Love Actually, The Wedding Singer, and 10 Things I Hate About You. Oh and Summer Catch. It was a horrible movie, but it was about baseball so...
Me: ... so of course you liked it.

LOL!

The Guys Behind the Blog // January.

Welcome to January's Guys Behind the Blog link up!

For January, we decided to focus our questions on the theme of "cold weather". Here are this month's questions and answers:

1 // Are you a New Year's resolution person? Why or why not?

Laughing. No. I am not a New Year's resolution person. I don't discipline myself enough to follow through with them.

2 // Do you like the colder months or do you prefer the warmer months? Why?

Seth : Gotta love living in Southern California, there really aren't any cold months. That being said, I am always hot, so I prefer the colder months here. I prefer shorts, flip flops, and short sleeve t-shirt weather.
Me : Sooooo.... March through October?
Seth : January through December!

3 // Have you ever been skiing or snowboarding? If so, did you enjoy it?

I've done both skiing and snowboarding. I enjoyed both of them. Though I do tend to hurt myself doing either, because I'm a klutz, but I do have fun doing it and do consider myself good at it... sort of.

4 // Where is your favorite winter vacation you've ever taken?

I've been to Park City, Utah once. That was the first time I ever got to snowboard in fresh powder.

5 // If you were paid $100,000 to stay in a cabin in the mountains (in the winter) with no Internet or TV for a month, could you do it? How would you spend your time?

Looks like his mind is blown.
Umm... yes, I could do it. I'd just go snowboarding a lot during that time. And read books. I could go snowboarding A LOT for $100,000.

For December, we decided to focus our questions on the theme of the holidays. Here are this month's questions and answers:

1 // How do you spend the holidays? Any favorite traditions that you had growing up that you like to share with your family now?

Spending time with my family. Eating dinner. Opening lots of gifts. Eating more. Opening more gifts. And eating more. And then eating dessert.

2 // Do you prefer to have a real tree or a fake tree?

Hmm... when it comes to buying the real tree, I prefer the fake one. But once it's up, I definitely prefer the real tree to the fake tree.

3 // How old were you when you stopped believing in Santa? Did someone ruin it for you or did you find out on your own? Do you play Santa for your kids?

Seth : I was 34. And it was you. Just now. Thanks.
Me : Ha. Ha. Ha. No really?
Seth : Looks at me.
Me : That's all you're saying?
Seth : Well I didn't write it down. I have no clue!
Me : Insert rolling eyes emoji...

4 // What's your favorite Christmas movie?

Home Alone.

5 // Office holiday party - take it or leave it?

If done right, take it! Most of the time, leave it.

Bonus Question:
6 // New Year's Eve... quiet evening at home or go out and party?

Quiet evening at home.

The Guys Behind the Blog // November 2016.

Welcome to November's Guys Behind the Blog link up!

For November, we decided to focus our questions on the theme of Thanksgiving. Here are this month's questions and answers:

1 // What is your favorite Thanksgiving dish? What is your least favorite?

My favorite Thanksgiving dish? Definitely mashed potatoes. And my least favorite? That cranberry? cherry? Jello $h!t that my mom makes (sorry mom!).

2 // What is a Thanksgiving tradition you liked growing up that you want to continue with your family?
For example: Do you eat super early around 3pm or regular dinner time around 6pm? Do you watch football? Do you all go to a particular family member's house? Do you nap after the big meal?

We didn't really have any specific traditions besides having all the nearby family get together, spend the day together, and eat dinner together. I like that we still continue to do that now.

3 // What are your thoughts on Black Friday shopping? Yay or nay?

Seth: glares at me.
Me: laughing.
Seth: enough said?
Me: enough said.

(He hates shopping in general, but REALLY hates the idea of Black Friday shopping.)

4 // If you had it your way, would you set up your holiday decorations (Christmas tree, Hanukkah menorah, etc.) before or after Thanksgiving?

Seth: glares at me.
Me: laughing.
Seth: enough said?
Me: enough said.

(I think he'd prefer to never decorate (but he never wins that argument), so we just wait until RIGHT after Thanksgiving when I make him take us to get our Christmas tree.)

Seth: I like these questions! They're easy. Let's keep them going!

5 // What are you most thankful for this year?

Me before I read the question : Ok, you actually have to use your brain on this one.
Seth: Sure I do.
Me: Rolls eyes. Reads question.

Seth: Spending time with my family. I know my job is getting more and more demanding (he just got a promotion a couple months ago) so I truly cherish the time we get to spend together on the weekends.

Seth: Darn you and your making me think question.
Me: Wait, what? I was right?
Seth: Oops, sorry, going through a tunnel.
Me: Rolls eyes.

The Guys Behind the Blog // October 2016.

Welcome to October's Guys Behind the Blog link up!

For October, we decided to focus our questions on the theme of Halloween. Here are this month's questions:

1 // What was your most favorite Halloween costume and why?

The one Halloween costume that I have vivid memories of was when I was in fifth grade and I was Indiana Jones. I thought it was THE COOLEST thing that I got to take a whip - a REAL whip - to school! I later hurt myself with it, but that's besides the point. It was still an awesome costume.

2 // Haunted Houses – love them or hate them?

Not a big fan of getting scared. If done right, they can be pretty cool, but I'm still not a huge fan.

3 // What is your favorite scary movie of all time?

Long pause....

Me : Do you even like scary movies?

Seth : Yes and no.

Long pause again...

Seth : I don't know if it was necessarily considered a 'scary movie' but it definitely was a 'creepy movie'... The Sixth Sense. But I also do like all the 'Halloween' movies too.

4 // If you had to attend a mandatory dress up Halloween party this year, what would you go as?

Since Mason's going as a mail man (spoiler alert!) and you want to go as a post card, I'd want to be the big mail truck!

5 // Do you believe in ghosts? Why or why not?

Seth : No.

Me : Do you have a why? Or just no?

Seth : Just no.

November's link up will be a little earlier than normal due to Thanksgiving being the last Thursday of the month. November's link up will be on November 17th and the questions will be:

1 // What is your favorite Thanksgiving dish? What is your least favorite?

2 // What is a Thanksgiving tradition you liked growing up that you want to continue with your family?

For example: Do you eat super early around 3pm or regular dinner time around 6pm? Do you watch football? Do you all go to a particular family member's house? Do you nap after the big meal?

The Guys Behind the Blog // July Edition.

Wednesday, August 3, 2016

Last year, I found out through Crystal that Betsy from Heavens to Betsy had this super cool series called The Guys Behind the Blog. Unfortunately it was a little too late to join for March 2015 but I joined in April and have been ever since! While I do talk about Seth often, I don't really know if you all know him very well. Enter : this series. Every month Betsy has different prompts that the guys behind the blog answer.

This month Laura Jean and Betsy chose to let us, the readers, chose what questions we wanted to ask our husbands. We got to do this once before and I found it pretty easy to come up with questions. This month, I had to get a little more creative.

Here are the questions :

1 // I know your preferred drinks at Starbucks are either a hot, black coffee or an iced, black coffee or a cold brew coffee. BUT, if you HAD to choose one drink to get that wasn't any of those, what would it be?
An iced Americano.
I feel like that's cheating.
It is totally cheating, but I like my coffee to be black, bitter, and strong!

2 // What are 3 vacation spots in the United States that you would like to go to at some point in your life (besides a tour of every baseball stadium)?
Laughing. Thanks for narrowing it down!
You're welcome.
I'd like to go to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to see the Steelers play at Heinz Field. I'd also like to go to Denver and to see Colorado. And, finally I'd like to go to Kansas City, Missouri for the barbecue. And the beer!

3 // What is your favorite Disney/Pixar movie?
I really like both Planes movies, but that's because I know how much Mason likes them. And I really like all the Toy Story movies. But if I had to choose, I'd choose the Planes movies.
Which one is your favorite?
Planes : Fire and Rescue

4 // What country do you most want to travel to and why?
I've definitely had the opportunity to travel and see a bunch of countries in my lifetime, but the one place that I've really wanted to go to my whole life is Australia. It just seems like a really cool country in which there are lots of different things to see while you're there. Just... the flight is too long.

5 // I know you are not a big dessert fan... but if you had to choose, what is your favorite dessert food?
Cheesecake. Or Boston Creme Pie.
Wow, there was no hesitation!
Can I have Boston Creme Pie Cheesecake now?

And there you have it! Thanks for playing along again Seth!

The Guys Behind the Blog // May Edition.

Thursday, May 26, 2016

Last year, I found out through Crystal that Betsy from Heavens to Betsy had this super cool series called The Guys Behind the Blog. Unfortunately it was a little too late to join for March 2015 but I joined in April and have been ever since! While I do talk about Seth often, I don't really know if you all know him very well. Enter : this series. Every month Betsy has different prompts that the guys behind the blog answer.

In preparation for the upcoming season, Laura Jean and Betsy chose to focus May’s questions on everything summery. However, there is a little bit of a twist! This month's questions are would-you-rather style.

Here are the questions :

1 // Would you rather have to wear your swimsuit to work OR have to carry around a large beach umbrella open all day at work?
That's easy. Swimsuit.
A swimsuit is better than carrying around an umbrella?
Board shorts and a t-shirt? Count me in. I'm a guy. It's not like I'm wearing a bikini!

2 // Would you rather play on an MLB team OR get to tour with your favorite band all summer?
Let me think about this. MLB!!!!

3 // Would you rather go to the beach and forget your towel OR go to the beach and forget your sunscreen?
Forget my towel. I just wouldn't go into the water. At least I wouldn't get burnt.

4 // Would you rather take a week-long vacation to anywhere in the world OR take a month-long vacation but have to stay within 100 miles of home?
100 miles from home? I'd rather take a week-long vacation anywhere in the world.

5 // Would you rather get to have as much ice cream as you want this summer, but only be able to get vanilla OR only get to have ice cream three times this summer, but you can have whatever flavors you want?
I'd rather have ice cream three times this summer but have whatever flavor I wanted.
Me too.
Yeah, but I'm not addicted to ice cream... like somebody in this room.
How rude! (but he's right.)

(long pause since we're done...)
Seth : Ok, I'm ready for my next question.
Me : That's it. You're done.
Seth : WHAT? But there were no questions about beer!

LOL!

And there you have it! Thanks for playing along again Seth!

The Guys Behind the Blog // April Edition.

Friday, April 29, 2016

Last year, I found out through Crystal that Betsy from Heavens to Betsy had this super cool series called The Guys Behind the Blog. Unfortunately it was a little too late to join for March 2015 but I joined in April and have been ever since! While I do talk about Seth often, I don't really know if you all know him very well. Enter : this series. Every month Betsy has different prompts that the guys behind the blog answer.

For April, Laura Jean and Betsy came up with questions about family and childhood! Here are the questions:

1 // In what ways are you the same as your childhood self?
I still enjoy playing baseball. I still get so involved in a TV show that I'm watching that I tune out my surroundings. And I still enjoy singing and rocking out in the car - but now with my little side kick Mason!

2 // What does family mean to you?
Everything.

3 // How would your family or closest friends describe you?
Weird. Talkative. Nerdy. Caring. Loyal. Loving.

4 // What’s your fondest childhood memory?
Swimming with dolphins.
Where? When? Age? Details?
I don't know!
Rolls eyes.
It was a pilot program at Sea World before they developed the program that they have in place now. I was probably thirteen years old. Besides wanting to be a professional baseball player, becoming a dolphin trainer was what I thought I wanted to be when I grew up.

It's amazing the information you can get out of him when you start throwing out random questions!

5 // What words of wisdom would you pass on to your childhood self?
Don't procrastine. It sets you up for bad habits later on in life.

And there you have it! Thanks for playing along again Seth!

The Guys Behind the Blog // March Edition.

Thursday, March 31, 2016

Last year, I found out through Crystal that Betsy from Heavens to Betsy had this super cool series called The Guys Behind the Blog. Unfortunately it was a little too late to join for March 2015 but I joined in April and have been ever since! While I do talk about Seth often, I don't really know if you all know him very well. Enter : this series. Every month Betsy has different prompts that the guys behind the blog answer.

For March, Laura Jean and Betsy let us come up with our own questions for our guys! Since it's baseball's opening day next week and since you all already know how much Seth likes baseball, I decided to keep my questions to the baseball theme.

Here are the questions that I came up with for Seth :

1 // We all know that baseball is your favorite sport. Who is your all time favorite baseball player and why?
Growing up, one of my favorite baseball players was (and still is) Cal Ripkin, Jr. In my opinion, he's one of the best short stops of all times. He holds the record for the most number of consecutive games played (2,632 games) which, in my opinion, will never be broken. But one of the main reasons I like him as a player is that every game he played in, he played hard on both offense and defense. He always gave 100%.

2 // What are the top three baseball stadiums that you want to visit?
Wrigley Field in Chicago. Fenway Park in Boston. Busch Stadium in St. Louis.

3 // Have you always been an Angels fan? Or did you like a different team when you were younger and then grew to like the Angels?
I've always been in Angels fan. For a short period of time, I really liked the Chicago White Sox but that was because I was on that team for four years straight in little league.

4 // When you go to a baseball stadium, is your go-to meal the standard hot dog and beer or do you venture out and get something different?
I tend to venture out to something different. But beer is always a must.

5 // Besides Angels stadium, which stadium that you've been to is your favorite?
AT&T Park in San Francisco (Giants stadium).

And there you have it! Thanks for playing along again Seth!

The Guys Behind the Blog // February Edition

Thursday, February 25, 2016

Last year, I found out through Crystal that Betsy from Heavens to Betsy had this super cool series called The Guys Behind the Blog. Unfortunately it was a little too late to join for March 2015 but I joined in April and have been ever since! While I do talk about Seth often, I don't really know if you all know him very well. Enter : this series. Every month Betsy has different prompts that the guys behind the blog answer.

Here are February's questions :

1 // This year is Leap Year — what are you going to do to celebrate?
Looks at me with a blank stare. People celebrate Leap Year?
I'll be wishing my friend, Ty, a happy 8th birthday since he was born on Leap Day.

2 // If you could create an obscure holiday, what would it be and why?
Looks at me with a blank stare.
I'd make the day after the Super Bowl a holiday. So we could enjoy it more. Not that we really go crazy now. But if it were a holiday, maybe we could. Give me more beer!

3 // Have you seen the movie Leap Year? If not, tell us about another romantic comedy you have seen.
Looks at me with a blank stare. There was a movie called Leap Year?

4 // Tradition has it that women are supposed to propose to their men on leap day. Would you (or did you) say yes if your girl popped the question?
Ohhhh... was that what that Leap Year movie was about???
I have no idea!
What am I supposed to answer?
If I proposed to you, would you have said yes?
Of course!

5 // If you had to have a special event take place on leap day, what would it be (ex: wedding, birthday, birth of your child, etc)?
Looks at me with a blank stare. Did I earn my beer yet?

And there you have it! Thanks for playing along again Seth! And to answer his question, yes he did earn his beer :)
