Dream Work Space.

Do you ever wonder where the magic happens? No, not THAT magic. The magic of the blog post composing.
Do you wonder where your favorite bloggers compose that eloquently written post? Is it in a fantastic office complete with a comfy, stylish chair? Or just a simple work space like a comfy couch?

Well, I'll be honest. My work space is less than ideal. It basically consists of this :

or my couch.

During the day, I usually blog or read blogs from the comfort of my dining table chairs and at night, I usually migrate to the couch so I can be sitting with Seth while I half watch a TV show and do stuff on the computer at the same time.

Glamorous? No. But it gets the job done. And for now, since we don't have room for an office, or for me to even have a designated table to myself, I take what I can get.

But, a girl can dream, right?
And if we're talking about dreaming, I think my dream space would look a little like this...

...some sort of fun calendar...

...possible lights...
(I LOVE the way the white lights look)

...some sort of storage - a bookshelf with a wall papered background or an ombre dresser...

...and a large desk... maybe L shaped...

...maybe a little pop of color...

...and some storage, a GREAT view, and a fun "bulletin board".

A girl can dream.

What kind of work space do you have?
Do you have an office? Or do you blog from your couch like me?

  1. What beautiful office ideas! We actually have a desk, that actually has a computer on it. But I choose to use my laptop and migrate around the house. Ha. Most of my computer time is caught in little moments throughout the day so that just works for me, for now.

  2. Such a fun post and it came at a great time because I'm actually in the middle of setting up a little work space in our master bedroom! My studio/loft for Sadie Sky Boutique is above our bedroom because we have 16' ceilings in there and, while I have a big desk up there, it's normally covered in leather and a total mess...not somewhere I want to sit and blog or do other stuff. I shopped the rest of our house and found an antique table not being used, moved that against the wall under the stairs that lead to my loft and boom! The perfect little desk nook! I'm having my hubby put together a fun little wire pendant light and just ordered the parts to make it last night. I'm currently on the hunt for the perfect chair or stool and am trying to be patient...I'm going to a HUGE antique fair in Round Top Texas in a month and am hoping to scoop up some fun stuff there! When it's done, it won't be anything fancy and it's definitely a small space, but it's just what I needed to organize my stuff, rather than have it laying around on the kitchen island :-) I normally blog from the main part of the house (the couch, table, etc), which probably won't change but it will be great for my planner, books, Emily Lay binder, etc to have their own home :-)

  3. I love day dreaming about workspace! Don't worry I'm usually with you - blogging from the couch or anywhere I can make it work. We have a "workspace" in our office/guest bedroom but the desk is pretty small and while I love it and the white leather chair we have, I wish we had more space for a whole room dedicated to an office. We used, but alas Cruz's toys took over and we decided to dedicate a room to his toy room. The things we do for our kids!

  4. I'd take any of those!! My space is my classroom at work - haha!! I stay after a few days a week and do "personal" stuff. Chad has an office at home, so sometimes I sneak in there, but it hasn't been set up in our new house YET. I will be happy to have my space for stationary, address book, bills and my computer!! :)

  5. Those are some cute spaces! We currently don't have any sort of office or desk space either and it kinda drives me nuts. My craft stuff doesn't really have a home, and when I want to make something, it's a pain to dig stuff out. I'm hoping we can turn one of our closets into a makeshift desk/work area this year.

  6. I love these kinds of posts!!! I love the lights on the ceiling!! What kind of tape do you use on your planner?

  7. I love all these ideas, I'm currently trying to get my space all figured out. We removed the doors from one of our closets and put a little desk in there :) I just have to get a desk chair and maybe some lights after seeing this :) Right now I just work from the kitchen table most days :)

  8. L desks are my fave. I don't have a workspace. I blog at the dining room, on the couch, or more often than not in my bed. Comfy. Works. I'd love to have a space though. Not only for blogging but just general task keeping. Love the shelves with background color. I've always wanted that in my kitchen! Fun post, I hope you get your dream space sometime.

  9. And now I'm yearning to revamp my desk space! Well... My shared desk space-- shared with the toddler and her playroom.

  11. I love that ombré dresser! So cute. I usually post from the couch or at the dinning table at one of my nanny homes while the kiddos are napping. (Back when I was a teacher, I blogged at my school desk! Planning time was blogging time for me since I didn't get paid for that hour!)

  12. I love these ideas! I currently have my couch. I hope to transform a little corner of our new house into my little space. We'll see what happens!

  13. I "work" from the couch, bed, table, and playroom floor. I almost feel like an office would be too distracting, haha, like i'd just waste the time doing other things.

  14. Girl, I am so with you!! Kitchen table or the couch... sometimes my bed when I wake up early in the morning to blog, HA! Someday I'll have a dreamy little corner in the office, or playroom, or something ;)

  15. Haha I often dream of a lovely office. I have no idea where I would sneak this into our house! The kitchen table and couch are it for now ;)

  16. I love this post idea! I just might have to steal it some day later down the road. I am usually at the dining room table with the girls, on the couch or sitting at the kitchen bar. Nothing fancy here :/.

  17. Ooh love all your inspiration and this post! It would be so fun to see where everyone blogs. I have a small desk in our family room, but not much in the decor department other than a glassy baby. Perhaps I'll do a similar post soon; thanks for the idea!

  18. I'm sitting on my couch, reading blogs on my laptop while my husband watches the hockey game. We are nothing but glamorous around here.

  19. Oooh, I'd be over to share your office; pretty inspiration!! It's funny you post this as I've been thinking how/where/why I'm drawn to different parts of our house in different seasons/stages, as far as for comfort, etc... Interesting. We finally got a laptop, even though it's now mobile it's still been staying in our room where we also have a little desk also. I'd like to work on a more (inspiring) dedicated space. And I need washi tape for my planner, STAT!! :)

  20. I'm a couch blogger! There's no real designated office space in our house (save for a tiny little desk that is tucked in the corner of our dining area). I can't wait for the day when we have a real office where "the magic" happens. :)

  21. Are you trying to make my dream work space cuz that's what it kind of looks like. Ha! I love it & I'm hopeful that someday I too will have one. :)

  22. I write so many of my posts on my phone while I'm feeding Jude or rocking him, since he refuses to nap anywhere but my lap. I have an office, but it's in need of a major cleaning!

  23. These are all great ideas. I've been working from a little corner of our dining room, but I've decided to take over and redo a corner area in our basement. I'm slowly working on it being a small little space that is just mine and decorated to be inspirational. I'll have to live without the view for now--for now it will be a view of my treadmill and a basement wall.

  24. Oh what a perfectly timed post!!! I spent the last year blogging on my bed (because our bedroom was our bedroom, living room, laundry room, play area, office, etc). At our old house I had an office space but we cut that room off this floor plan. So my desk will be in the guest bedroom and I'm trying to visualize how to make it work. I'm really liking the set ups you showed that have shelves above the desk - I think that will help me a lot with space!

  25. This post made me a little sad because I will probably never have such a nice reading/blogging space. I am usually in bed or watching tv while I blog or read posts. I once created a space that was okay but I never sat there because the chair was too uncomfortable. If I had a nice comfy chair and a gorgeous space (with those awesome white lights!) I would be so happy.
