Weekending [Bachelorette Style].

Wednesday, May 4, 2016

Or should I say, semi-bachelorette style (since I'm married and not technically a bachelorette)?

This weekend was my cousin's bachelorette party. My sister in law and I are bridesmaids in her wedding at the end of the month and the bride, her other bridesmaids, and a couple friends came down to Southern California this weekend to celebrate -- the final fling before the ring!

I apologize for the picture heavy post, but really, a picture is worth a thousand words, so I'm sure the pictures can tell the story of the weekend a lot better than I can.

The girls flew down Friday morning. My sister in law and I had to work so we met up with them later that night to start the weekend off with a painting party. I'd never been to a painting party before but I'd heard of people who had done them and also I saw it on a Real Housewives of Orange County episode (quality TV I know buuuuuut once we got there, we found out that the place we were at was THE place they were at on the show - kinda cool!). The place didn't live up to the hype -- it was better! I was a bit nervous in the beginning, especially since I am a TERRIBLE artist, but she showed us a technique that helped us paint and I'm shocked to say... I am actually really impressed with myself!

They provided the canvases and the paints. We brought a little platter of food, some cupcakes and champagne since the party was around dinner time.

I made this!!!!

After painting, we went to a restaurant nearby that had bull riding (yes, you read that right, however, I was not brave enough to do the riding - if you saw my snapchats, I left that up to the bride!). They also had these ENORMOUS cotton candy's. I mean. It's bigger than me!

Saturday!!! Saturday was the day we got blow outs. Now. I've never been to a Dry Bar before. I had no idea what to expect, but it exceeded my expectations! My sister in law told me they wash your hair for you and then dry it and style it however you want. I figured, that's cool, but I didn't expect to love my hair as much as I did!

So we got to our appointment at 1pm. Like my sister in law said, the lady washed my hair and then brought me over to the styling chair to dry and style my hair. I chose long, loose curls. I cannot curl my hair to save my life so I figured I better leave it to the professionals. And let me tell you - I LOVED it. I'm addicted. I want to go back every weekend! Thank goodness it's not closer because it is relatively expensive for someone just to curl my hair.

After the Dry Bar, we walked around and did some shopping at the mall and then went home to get ready for the night. We met up for dinner later and then went to a local club. Yes, this old lady went to a club AND stayed out WAY past her bedtime! Friday night I was out and awake until 11:30pm and Saturday night I was out and awake past midnight! It was some kind of miracle. Clearly we were having too much fun!

Sunday morning I woke up before everyone else. I have no idea how this even happened since I was awake later than everyone else but come 6:36am, I was wide awake. The girls woke up with a bit of a hangover so my sister in law and I decided to take a little family adventure to the donut store since we hadn't seen the kids that much all weekend.

After our donut adventure, we met the girls by the beach for more shopping and some lunching and then headed home to be responsible adults and finish laundry and go grocery shopping for the week.

Overall, it was a super fun weekend celebrating the bride to be and in a few short weeks, we'll be heading to Northern California to celebrate her WEDDING!!!

  15. What a fun weekend! Your canvas is beautiful! I've always wanted to do that but I am not artistic at all so it probably would be pretty bad! Can you share your snapchat name? I'm late to the game but kind of obsessed now and would love to follow you :)
