ONE.
This pin.
Have you guys seen this pin? I saw an arcticle on Facebook about the perfect road trip and 'screen shotted' it for future reference but Courtney told me there was a pin version as well so I hopped on Pinterest to find it. On Seth's bucket list is to visit every baseball stadium in the US and to be honest, I'd kinda like to also, so this may be a super fun road trip to go on once Mason is grown and out of the house and we are old and retired (you know, in like 40 years!). Maybe we can buy an RV and travel around the US and I can watch TV while he drives me around? LOL. I think I heard Seth yelling "NO!" in the background. Oh well. A girl can dream.
TWO.
Painted hands.
Mason came home with paint stains all over his hands on Tuesday. It looks like the teachers tried to wash his hands, but it just didn't come off all the way. The stains were of the purple and pink variety and I have a strange feeling that I know what he was doing all day. To say that I am excited to see what comes home from his cubby today is an understatement! I just LOVE the artwork that he makes!
THREE.
Starbucks s'mores frappuchino.
HOLY MOLY.
I wish these things came with a 50% off calorie count as well as the 50% off price tag, but honestly, it was worth every last calorie! That marshmallow whip cream... HEAVEN. If I can convince Seth, I might go back again this weekend!
Happy Hour is from 3pm-5pm (or 6pm if you are a gold card holder!) so run, don't walk, to Starbucks this weekend and get yourself one of these babies! Happy Hour only lasts until Sunday, so don't wait! You can thank me later :)
FOUR.
Blurry profile picture?
Can someone please help me?! This picture doesn't do it justice, but when I load my blog, my profile picture is blurry. Is it blurry for you all too? If so, how do I fix it? I think it was originally a rectangle and I uploaded it as my profile picture and I'm guessing it stretched it or something and somehow altered it, but how do I fix it? Thank you in advance!
FIVE.
May the fourth be with you.
Umm, how talented is this mama? She did this for her boys for May the 4th (be with you) and I think it is just so creative!
SIX.
Teacher appreciation.
Speaking of creative, I channeled my inner Pinterest and made this for Mason's teachers for Teacher Appreciation Week. We love his teachers a latte so I figured it was only fitting. It was seriously super easy and only took me like 5 minutes per one. #pinterestwin

This post.
I try to keep things light hearted on the blog, but I also want to be real, and sometimes you come across something that just hits too close to come. Someone shared this post, A Letter to the Motherless Daughters on Mother's Day, on Facebook on Wednesday and I stumbled upon it. Being as it is Mother's Day on Sunday and being as though I lost my mom over 12 years ago, I found it to hit very close to home. My favorite part is when she says this :
She didn’t want to ever leave you and she still hasn’t left you. Your mother was greater than this world. I know sometimes life just doesn’t seem fair and it never will but please, please, don’t cry today, for your mother would want nothing more than to see you smile. I feel the pain within your heart as another day passes by without her. She doesn’t want you to be sad. She wants you to honor her life in the best way possible, and that way is to live it. Live it for you. Live it for her.
That's exactly how I feel. I know my mom didn't want to leave me, leave my brother and my dad. But sometimes we don't have a choice. I know she wouldn't want me to dwell on the fact that she is gone. She would want me to live my life. Live it for her. Live it for me. And in a weird way, I feel lucky. Luckier than most people. Though I can't physically see her, I know she is there. Always. Every day. Every minute of every day. How lucky is that? Not many people can say they have the privilege of being with their mom and having her look down upon them with a smile, beaming with pride, every day.
I hate to end this post on such a Debbie Downer moment, but please take this away.
Hug your mother. Call your mother. Tell her you love her. Tell her your miss her. Tell her she is amazing. Show her you care. Because one day, you might not be able to call her up and tell her you love her. She will know, but you won't be able to hear her voice telling you she loves you back.
Kids, hold your moms a little tighter and longer. And moms, hug your kids a little longer and tell them you love them. You can never say 'I love you' enough.
Happy Weekend and Happy Mother's Day!
Ooh you are totally getting a cute Mother's Day gift from Mason! That's one of the reasons I'm so excited for Noah to start preschool this fall! I even saw on FB from a friend who's son goes to the preschool Noah will go to and they had a Mother's Day tea... I'm so excited for all of this!
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a great Mother's Day! I saw that article from a friend who lost her mother a few years ago (when she was pregnant with her first child) and it just breaks my heart. My heart goes out to you because just thinking about my mom not being here and talking to her at least ten times a day makes me want to cry. You are a strong lady! I'm sure your mom is looking down and proud at how great of a mom you are to Mason!
oh sniff, maybe you should have started with that last one and then brought the mood back up with the rest!!!
ReplyDeleteHow large is the image you are putting on your sidebar? If the pixels are too small then it could stretch. If not then beats me!
Happy mother's day weekend! I'm excited for you to get toddler art, I love that stuff.
Okay, first, Starbucks on the agenda today at 3:00 sharp. Daughter and I heading over to try that drink...oh so excited. Second, lost my mom two years ago, no the feeling. Third, love your words on the last paragraph...(wrote my Thankful Friday post for my daughters today). Everyone should do those things everyday, every week for their moms. Fourth, (ok this is my last, I promise) same thing happened to my profile picture too. My daughter, the expert, couldn't figure it out either. You find out, let me know too. Wishing you a wonderful Mother's Day and let it be full of hugs, kisses and memories!
ReplyDeleteNo way! That road trip would be a hit for Eric! We must make that happen someday!! Why don't you just start yours early by coming to AZ already?!
ReplyDeleteOh sweet Liz, I'm crying over that letter! Wish I could give you a hug! I promise to do my best to not take my mom for granted! Happy Mother's Day weekend to you... cherish the memories you do have with your momma and keep making amazing ones with your sweet Mason! xoxo
Seeing every baseball stadium is my husband's dream too! Travelling is so fun. I wish we could afford to do it more often!! Happy Mother's Day to you!
ReplyDeleteYou should do that road trip, like soon... I'm just two hours above the Montana border, you can come visit me too ;) Big hugs to you this mother's day, it can't be easy having lost your own mama but you're so strong to see things the way you do. Love! XO
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see Mason's project..!! Anything with those little hands will be absolutely perfect. :)

What a great article/post; thinking of you especially this weekend, as we celebrate mothers. You are SUCH an amazing momma, I hope you are able to CELEBRATE wonderful memories, while making new ones too. xo
I love getting fun and cute things that Wyatt makes! He painted a pot for me and brought home some beautiful flowers! Hopefully I can keep it alive. ;) And I've been seeing that Frappuccino everywhere and it looks just as amazing as it sounds! Hope you have an amazing Mother's Day weekend with your boys!!
ReplyDeleteI saw that perfect road trip floating around a couple weeks ago! I need to rent an RV and go travel with a bunch of friends! Your hash brown/bacon wookie is so clever, I bet the boys were on cloud 9! Have a wonderful weekend!
ReplyDeleteAll the thumbs up for the s'more frap! I'm totally going back before Sunday but now I want to try the cinnamon chai- have you had it? Happy Mother's Day!
ReplyDeleteThe painted hands - I had the same experience this week, but with painted feet! There was red paint between my daughter's toes. I actually thought she was bleeding and went into a bit of a panic. But then I saw yellow on her other foot and realized it was just paint remnants. I adore the creative crafts our daycare comes up with! (I did "Thanks a latte" cards for my daughter's teachers as well - SO cute!) Happy Mother's Day!
ReplyDeleteI love that wookie breakfast!! So fun!
ReplyDeleteI don't have any advice for the profile picture but it is blurry- is it because it got cropped into a circle? Maybe a square wouldn't do that? No idea. Computer stuff isn't for me.
Will that gal please, please, PLEASE come to Wisconsin & make ME a Chewbacca breakfast?! That is the coolest thing I have seen today. Dang! :)
ReplyDeleteMandie ~ http://badbrewpack.blogspot.com/
That last one… Hugs to you.
ReplyDeleteThe s'more frappe? Oh. my. gosh. I'm going to get one (maybe two???) tomorrow. I'm basically obsessed with all things s'more, so this I'm sure will be perfection.
Hope you have a great day tomorrow!!
Thinking about you this Mother's Day! I'm sure it is always a bittersweet holiday!
ReplyDeleteI hope you had a great Mother's Day yesterday! I love homemade gifts, so I bet what Mason made you was perfect! I've heard about that smores frap- it's on my list to try, along with a peach green tea lemonade :) And your last paragraph... lots of hugs! I'm sure it's not easy, but like you said, I'm sure she is smiling down at you and your family.
ReplyDeleteSo many great things in this post! I love the idea of a major across the US road trip! But they forgot Chicago! And Nashville/Memphis. And Smores frappucino? OMG. I need to stay far away from Starbucks! And I hope you had an amazing Mother's Day. I'm sure it is always a hard day. Love that quote.
ReplyDeleteI'm totally reminded of the women who have lost moms this mother's day as mom mom's mom passed when I was two and I have a friend whose mom is dying. Want to know something cool, our newest little man was born on my mom's mom's birthday! I just think it's so special!
ReplyDeleteI need to try the frap! I am ok with the extra calories right now :) Maybe I'll have to take a cruise to the Starbucks drive thru!
The s'more frap is AMAZING and I want to drink them all day every day. Minus the calories of course! Brandon and I totally want to visit all the baseball stadiums too! If you ever come to STL I'll take you to a game in our seats!!!
ReplyDeleteI am so wanting to do that road trip! How awesome would that be? On our bucketlist is to visit all of the ballparks as well!! And we want to do it by way of RV. So cool!!! I haven’t tried the Smore’s frap yet! How long will they be out? The blurry profile picture happened to Amy over at Keeping Up with the Smith’s too. She fixed her and could possibly help you!?
ReplyDeleteThat road trip looks amazing. We have BIG dreams of driving Route 66 from the start to the finish some day. Man it would be so cool.
ReplyDeleteYour teachers presents are AWESOME. We all know that is exactly what every teacher wants.
Sorry about the picture. Wish I could help :(.
