32 Things About Me on (the Day After) my 32nd Birthday + a Giveaway!

Tuesday, September 20, 2016

For my 30th birthday, I shared 30 Things You May Not Know About Me on my 30th Birthday and then last year I answered 31 Questions on my 31st Birthday. This year I thought I'd go back to the list of things you may not know about me. If you've been following along for the past few years, some of these may be repeats, but if you're new, here's a little bit more about me!

1. I hate umbrellas. I find them extremely annoying and inconvenient. Good thing I live in a place where it almost never rains.

2. I'm obsessed with the Chick fil a sauce from Chick fil a.

3. I'm obsessive about expiration dates. If it's expired, it's gone (even by one day - nope, bye bye). If I think it's been in the fridge too long, it's gone. If I'm at all iffy on it, it's gone. Seth things I'm crazy. I think I'm cautious.

4. When I buy something really expensive (like a TV or when I bought my car), I have extreme buyers remorse, even though I know I love it.

5. I LOVE taking Mason to the post office and I love his love for the post office, but in general, it's not my favorite place.

6. I HATE shopping in real stores (vs online). It's not so much that I hate going to the stores, but with ebates and online sales and coupon codes, I feel like I always get screwed and end up paying too much when shopping in store. Plus I also like trying things on in the comfort of my own home, with all my other clothes to help me make outfits, which is probably why I love Stitch Fix so much also.

7. I'm very much an AC girl vs a windows down girl when driving in the car.

8. Speaking of, I have a sun roof (moon roof? the one that opens!) in my car that I never open. I open the shade so the sun comes in, but I don't think I've ever actually opened it to get fresh air since I got my car over 7 years ago.

9. I cry when I laugh too hard. It's kind of embarrassing.

10. I'm terrible at finishing drinks. I almost always leave a sip or two at the bottom of the drink, no matter if it's a hot drink or cold drink. I have no idea why.

11. I don't know how to parallel park.

12. I'm terrible at trying to park backwards in a parking spot or our car port.

13. I think I like the monster trucks from Blaze and the Monster Machines more than Mason and have an obsession with going to Target and seeing if they have any new ones that we don't have yet.

14. I am the most inconsistent blogger. In September, the first two weeks of the month, I think I blogged twice a week and in the last two weeks, I have a post planned for everyday. All I can say is... when I have content to share, I share! And when I don't, I don't!

15. I love scarves. Like LOVE. I wear one almost everyday. And not necessarily for warmth.

16. I love Starbucks. The obsession has gotten better but one time in college, my friend and I went 6 times in 5 days.

17. My top 5 most often used emojis are the eye roll, the crying laughing face, the heart eyes face, the thumbs up,  and the celebrate party horn thingy with confetti coming out. I don't use it THAT often but one of my other favorites is the "money flying away" (dollar bill with wings) emoji.

18. I hate talking on the phone. I'm not really sure why, but I much prefer texting (or emailing if I'm at work). Impersonal, I know.

19. Back in high school, I used to be obsessed with N*SYNC, The Backstreet Boys, 98 Degrees, and all those other boy bands. I do have to admit that I still like Justin Timberlake -- I'm obsessed with that "Can't Stop the Feeling" song!

20. I love chocolate. If I were to suddenly become allergic to it... I would just deal with it. And still eat chocolate.

21. Two of my biggest fears in life are raw chicken and uncooked eggs. We cook them both a lot, but I literally obsess over the cleanliness in the kitchen if raw chicken is involved.

22. Some of my other fears are the garbage disposal (Irrational? Maybe. I know it won't turn on unless I flip the switch, but I have this fear that if I stick my hand/finger in there to get something, it will turn on by itself and chop my finger off. I refuse. And make Seth do it.), driving behind those huge car hauler trucks, and bugs - of all kinds, but mostly spiders.

23. I'm almost as obsessed with layering as I am scarves. I ALWAYS wear a tank top under my main shirt, no matter how hot it is outside.

24. Seth and I met at Barnes and Noble... when I was his boss and he was my employee...oops!

25. I hate nuts in my cookies or brownies or any baked good for that matter. I also hate root beer and will turn down a root beer float every single time I'm offered one. Coke float all the way!

26. In 8th grade, I first found out I needed glasses. I refused to wear them at first because I HATED them. I would rather squint at the board in school, looking so crazy doing so, rather than wear my glasses. I was stoked when my grandpa (my ophthalmologist) said I could wear contacts. And that's how it's been ever since. I have glasses but I never wear them. They are only in case of "omg my eye is going to fall out and I will go blind if I stick my contacts in my eyes" emergencies. Let's hope this day never comes.

27. I've never broken a bone. {knock on wood} And I'd like to keep it that way.  I've also never been stung by a bee. And I'd also like to keep it that way.

28. I love getting pedicures. I try to go about once a month because they literally last that long. I think my favorite part is the foot and leg massage!

29. I don't like Pumpkin Spice Lattes. I know, I know. I'm like the only one in the whole world but I don't like the spicy-ness about them. I do love a good Caramel Apple Cider from Starbucks in the Fall though!

30. I fall asleep on the couch more often than I care to admit.

31. I can't cook. But Seth can and does. He can't bake. But I can and do.

32. I literally had this titled "31 things about me on my 31st birthday" for THE LONGEST TIME and then I realized... I'm turning 32. #fail. Guess 32 (or right before 32) is when your memory starts to go! Ha!

  1. I LOVE this post! I learned so many fun facts about you. I also don't like PSL. I guess we are the weird ones. :)

  2. My memory went to crap when I turned 32 :P. Baha ha! Oh my goodness I loved this list. There were so many things that I shook my head in agreement too. We always eat over done chicken because I am so gosh darn freaked out of serving it undercooked. I also think you should open that moon roof pronto. I wonder if it has aged permanently shut by now :P. I hope you had the best birthday ever.

  3. Happy birthday (again)!! I love these kind of lists... And finding out we are so alike! I can't get over the feeling of being ripped off when shopping in the store either. They should really fix that or else there will be no stores left! I often go try things on and then go home and order! And I also prefer AC to windows open, in the car and at home. I told Chris we can remove the blinds completely since I never open them! And I can't parallel park either! I will always look for a garage if driving in a city setting! But I do like root beer lol.

  4. Remembering our age is a funny thing. One year I kept anticipating being 40 and by the time it came I almost thought I was 41 because I'd been thinking about 40 for so long. So see...you're not the only one who forgets!!
    Happy birthday!!

  5. Great list! My kids always want the windows open in the car but I hate that. I don't know how to parallel park either. I would wear scarves more if I didn't get so hot! I do always wear a tank top under my shirt. It just feels better.

  6. I love this post! So many things in common. I'm not a huge PSL fan. I prefer a pumpkin creme frap or a pumpkin scone. Though I won't turn down a PSL. I hate the windows down in the car. My hair goes crazy! Happy Birthday!

  7. Happy birthday! My list would be way too long to read, lol. Thanks for hosting.

  8. These kind of posts are my favorite! And it turns out we have a lot in common, I found myself nodding along the whole way! Hope you have a very happy birthday!

  12. Chick-Fil-A sauce is EVERYTHING! Happy birthday!

  13. These are all too cute and I can completely relate to some of them. I don't like PSL either! Like cannot stand them. Anything else pumpkin spice I love but not them.

  14. All of my favorite things, too! I would sure love to win! Love these types of posts, even though I already knew a lot about you! So many similarities--the Chick-fil-a sauce, the expiration dates, the finishing a drink, and the fear of uncooked chicken/eggs to name a few! Happy happy 32nd birthday! I hope it's one of your best years yet!

  15. I love "getting to you know" posts! I can relate to several of the things you mentioned, like buyers remorse with large purchases (EVERY time) and being deathly afraid of chicken and egg germs. LOL. The other night I took a plate of defrosted chicken out of the fridge and the chicken juice spilled all over the floor and down the fridge door. I about died. LOL.

This is a sweet and fun giveaway! (I'm sorry about my no-reply status...but my email is comehomeforcomfort at gmail.com)

  18. 10, 11, 12 YESSSSS. Same.

Also, duh, haven't you seen final destination?? There is a total garbage disposal death LOL!! It's a very realistic fear.

Also also, how awesome that you were Seth's boss. This I did not know!

  19. Happy, Happy Birthday to you! I hear the 30's are better than 20's :) I LOVE this post- posts like these are my favorite! xo

  20. Hope you had the best birthday yesterday! You need to try a Salted Caramel Mocha {hot or iced}.It is so good! I will get one PSL on a really chilly day otherwise, I stick with the salted caramel!

  21. Psst, I can back up very well either. My husband makes fun of me cuz I almost have an anxiety attack if there is anything in my way. Ha, ha!

I hope that your birthday was super fantastic! :)

  22. oH my goodness, you have no idea I just nodded my head and said yes, me too! I think we need to go get some pedicures together! :) I never go unless someone is going with me, because going by myself is never as fun and I don't make time for just me by myself, but always for a friend. And nuts in baked goods should be illegal...:)

  23. I love pumpkin flavored baked stuff, but I hate PSL!!! I also LOVE the Chick-fil-a sauce!!!

    ReplyDelete
  24. I'm with you on the coke floats =) The PSL doesn't like me this year so that's lame. I will join the ranks of PSL dislikers. I really like mixing the polynesian and bbq sauce from chick fil a. I hate waffle fries though. I hate chunks of anything in brownies. Like chocolate chunks. I like to bite and just get brownie! Super fun birthday post =)

  25. Is it bad that I honestly had to do the math to figure out how old I was turning? I couldn't remember if it was 32 or 33. Whoops...
You're lucky we're friends or I might have had to revoke your blogger card since you don't like PSLs.
P.S. I wish we could enter this giveaway. Literally all of my favorite things ever!

    ReplyDelete
  26. Yay for September birthdays! Mine is sunday and I'll be celebrating all weekend! ;)

    ReplyDelete
  27. Hope you had a great birthday!! So many of these, YES! I too have never been stung by a bee- go us! That's come up a few times, and people look at me like, how has that never happened? Haha :) I'm like you on the glasses thing too - I've had glasses since 1st grade, and contacts since 4th. Looong time. And yep- no nuts in my cookies or brownies!

    ReplyDelete
  28. I hate umbrellas too! And even though it rains a ton, no one in Seattle actually uses them. So you would fit right in! Except for that while parallel parking situation... ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  29. Such a fun giveaway! There are so many things I relate too, I guess thats why we're friends ;) Though I have to say the only thing that we differ on is PSL- I dont drink it religiously lol but I dont not like it.

  30. dude! i've never had the chick fila sauce! and i like shopping in real stores because i'm
horribly impatient! also... ever since 30 i've been really confused about my age. like right now? totally doing the math to figure out how old i am...

  31. Give me all the Chick Fil A Sauce!!!! And I am so like that with expiration dates too. My dad swears an expiration date is only to make you buy more of their product. Ha. Nope, not taking that chance. If you call me there is a good chance I am not going to answer. Unless it’s my husband, Mason’s school, or our parents. Haha! Love this post! You and I have so much in common.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Happy Birthday!! Long live boy bands!! I saw all of those guys in concert back in high school. My sweet dad drove us everywhere to see them :) Could you please come and check the expiration dates on everything in my fridge? I'm terrible about it. They're so hard to find so I usually leave it up to my husband to toss things when they go bad. The only thing I pay attention to is the milk :)

  33. Um. 24 is the most romantic thing ever. Barnes and Noble is where we go for our romantic Friday night date nights.
