[Fall Fun] Watch a Football Game.

Wednesday, October 7, 2015

When I put "watch a football game" on our Fall Wish List, I had originally hoped that we could actually go to a football game. The Pittsburgh Steelers (Seth's favorite team) play the San Diego Chargers in San Diego on Monday (October 12th) and I thought it would be awesome to get tickets. Not so awesome it was on a Monday night, but still, we could make it work. And then... I looked up ticket prices and nearly fell out of my chair and watched my dreams of getting Seth and his Dad tickets for a suuuuuuuper early Christmas present, die. I wish there was a way I could have afforded the $200+ per ticket price because the Steelers almost never ever come to San Diego (or even San Francisco) and I thought this would be the perfect gift. Maybe next time. We'll keep looking!

So, instead, we decided to FINALLY get Mason a Steelers shirt of his own. I literally think Mason hasn't had anything Steelers since he was a baby and we got a hand-me-down onesie, a terrible towel burp cloth, and a set of jammies. Literally Mason was like 3-9 months old. This shirt purchase was long over due. We got the shirt off of Dick's Sporting Goods online and they have tons of other teams stuff too (in case you're in the market!).

Since we couldn't go to the game this coming Monday, we did the next best thing, we dressed up in our matching shirts last Thursday night and we cheered on our team! They ended up losing (boo - stupid kicker) but we still had fun in our mama, daddy, and mini matching outfits!

Go Steelers!

  1. Oh yeah, those games can be so expensive! Sporting events in NJ/NY are so expensive in general... Another reason we will be holding off taking noah! I do not want to risk having to leave early at those prices! Noah needs to want to go before we take him!

    1. And NFL (at least in philly) is really no place for a young kid. When people arrive to tailgate before 8am for a 4pm game, things just aren't PG. Phillies games are usually a better time for the kiddos in that sense. Id rather spend money at amusement parks young kids enjoy compared to games at this age.

  2. It amazes me how much tickets are. I would love to know where the money goes. Ha ha! Mason looks so handsome in his steelers shirt, even if they aren't my team.

  4. I love the family selfie!
How the heck did the Steelers become the family football team? They're no where near Southern California!
And, I really need to get on the ball with getting Marcus and Julia Chiefs stuff - neither kid has a single item of our teams clothes! #momfail

  5. As much as I dislike the Steelers, this is adorable!! We go to a Patriots game every year and spend almost $300/person for the ticket, bus ride down (2 hours each way), and food before and after the game. It's always our birthday presents to each other, so we justify it that way. Otherwise, the prices are RIDICULOUS for a family to go!

  9. Sometimes I think getting dressed up and watching the game at home is more fun (and definitely less stressful!) than actually going to it! ;) Such acute family selfie!

  10. I must love you like whoa to be able to continue our friendship knowing you cheer for "that" team! ;) Kidding! Such cute photos and a game at home is sometimes much more enjoyable then dealing with drunk fans.

  11. It's insane on how much NFL tickets are. It's the same deal with the Packers, it just cost too much money to attend a game. But I'm glad that you got to all sport your Steelers stuff & cheer on your team even though they lost. :(

  12. I'm thinking comfort of your own home is the way to watch football games, ticket prices are ridiculous!! Plus at home all the snacks/beer/etc. at your finger tips + comfy seats. :) LOVE the matching shirts. I'm the only one in our family that still needs a Broncos shirt..
