[Thoughts on Thursday] Confessions.

... that my fridge smells like coffee every time I open it. And I kind of love it. We recently went to Costco and bought a huge bag of whole bean coffee and then ground it in their little machine. We've been storing our coffee in the fridge (because I hear it keeps it fresher longer?) so every time I open the fridge door, I get a huge woosh of coffee smell.
...and an additional thing about that... I LOVE the smell of coffee brewing/coffee when I open my fridge door, but I don't necessarily need to drink it. I could just smell it.
...that I am SO paranoid about making sure I lock doors. Like whoa. I don't know where this paranoia came from, but I...
... always double check my house door to make sure it's closed AND locked when we leave the house
... always double checked the garage door to make sure it went down all the way before I drove off (when we used to have a garage at our old apartment)
... HATE being the last one to leave at work and always double, triple, quadruple check the door to make sure it's locked even though I KNOW I just locked it
... always had someone double check the front doors at the bookstore to make sure I locked them, even though I also checked them five seconds earlier.
... that I rarely, if ever, edit my photos, which is why they are definitely not photographer quality. Sometimes I throw them into PicTapGo (my recent discovery thanks to Erin - THANK YOU! ) before I post on IG, but most of the time I just make a photo collage and call it good. Why? 1. I don't really know how to edit photos and 2. I just don't have the time to spend editing. I WANT nice pictures, but I don't want to spend hours editing them because well, I just don't have that kind of time and I'm lazy. If someone could give me a crash course that doesn't involve it taking hours to edit, I'd love you forever.
...that I care way too much about what other people think. Sometimes I just need to know that I know what's best in certain situations and go with my gut.
...that I just got Snapchat and think I'm obsessed. I seriously was SO against it and then finally caved and am obsessed. Like I spent too much time on it yesterday, obsessed. And even though I spent far too long playing around on it yesterday, I still don't know how to use it.
...that I go over on data almost every month. We should probably up our data plan but I feel like since we got this plan soooooo long ago, it will probably cost more than the $10 overage fee that I incur... so I just pay the extra $10 every month.
And there you have it! Can you relate to any of my confessions?
I still don't understand snapchat either! We both need a crash course! I know so many people love to drink and smell coffee. I don't like either... Good thing Chris doesn't either so we don't have it or a coffee maker in our house.
ReplyDeleteWe are so similar about the locks. I'm the same with the the hair straightener or curling iron. I always say to myslef , out loud mind you, "locked" or "off". That seems to help a bit.
ReplyDeleteI also care too much about what others think!
ReplyDeleteA fridge that smells like coffee? That's a brilliant idea!
ReplyDeleteSnapChat is my J-A-M! My real-est moments are always shared there!
ReplyDeleteI totally could have written this post except the part about coffee. I love the smell of it, but I love to drink it even more! I lock my car and house like 283473892 times a day...I'm so paranoid. I think I'm going to cave into SnapChat, too, so I can watch all of these funny videos. Gah! Another obsession on my phone!
ReplyDeleteI prefer the smell of coffee to its taste, too. And I rarely do much editing to photos. A little lighting change in the camera app and that's it!
ReplyDeleteI do "editing lite" on my phone, just up the brightness and crop and Im done lol. It costs way too much to get a professional program like Adobe and picmonkey, though great for creating graphics and collages isnt my forte. Whatever! My pictures are good enough for me and Im the master judge lol.
ReplyDeleteI'm totally digging your snaps!! I love your voice and think you should be a podcast host! :) Photo editing is one of those necessary evils and total time sucks for me. I think the better you get at taking photos, the less time you need to do editing (just quick edits), but I hardly ever post anything these days without some type of edit. PicTapGo is great for iPhone photos. I also really like Snapseed, but that takes a bit longer to learn.
ReplyDeleteHa ha! I shook my head yes for so many of these. I check the doors numerous times too. Especially if I'm home alone with the kids.
ReplyDeleteI love this post :) I want to get coffee beans to put in my fridge now... my fridge is looking a hot mess.
ReplyDeletePhoto editing... you just have to find your style, and if you're talking on Instagram I find it best to take photos in natural light then they require less editing afterwards :)
In with ya on the coffee smells and the double check, re check thing. So annoying but I can't help myself. Lily gets frustrated with me because sometimes I drive all the way home just to double check I locked the back door, turned the stove off, closed the trash, etc...
ReplyDeleteOn a totally different note, what are some of your favorite Costco buys?
you and me. girls night and editing crash course :) it takes like a minute to do once you get in your groove. maybe i'll just assign you homework and make you practice every night :)
ReplyDeleteand bring on the snapchat!
The smell of coffee is THE BEST!! But, when I smell it I need a cup. I have an addiction... to coffee. There could be worse things to be addicted to, right?
ReplyDeleteI wait until our garage is almost totally closed before I drive off. I'm so paranoid I'll leave it open!
Snapchat guilty, right here. Though I've had it for ever I think it wasn't as fun because I wasn't really following anyone (just my brother, and a few - like 3- friends). But now? BAHAHA! Some of the stuff that's been posted is HILARIOUS!
I use afterlight to up the brightness and it takes like 3 seconds. And you can post straight to IG from the app so you're not having to work with several different apps. PicTapGo, too! I use the "lights on" filter mostly from that app!
ReplyDeleteI ALWAYS double-check our doors are locked (and we live in a safe neighborhood). I even ask Dan to make sure if he did, and then he gets annoyed cause he knows he did but then HE starts questioning himself... Ooops. :) Also, I've always struggled with what people think, I go through phases where it's better/worse, but with age it's gotten MUCH better. TRUST YOURSELF for sure. :)
ReplyDeleteI hate door locks. I also have to double check. Sometimes get my butt back out of bed just to make sure. Even though I swore I just did lock it but maybe I didn't actually lock it when I walked up to it....oy.
ReplyDeleteI love the smell of coffee too! And gross confession: I enjoy having the taste of coffee linger in my mouth, resulting in coffee breath. So I apologize to anyone that talks to me between 8 and 10 in the morning!
ReplyDeleteOnce you start editing photos and figure out the look & tools you like, it gets easier & quicker. Sometimes I have to spend one night editing and the next blogging.
ReplyDeleteLove the coffee smell too. I also hear that is stays fresher longer that way too. I wish they made a coffee candle that actually smelt like brewing coffee.
ReplyDeleteI think you might be related to my husband I didn't think it was possible for anyone to be more paranoid than he is, lol.
I have yet to do a confession post, I really should.
