[Thoughts on Thursday] Confessions.

Thursday, March 3, 2016

I must confess....

... that in my last confessions post I admitted that I am not a fan of Dunkin' Donuts coffee and I much prefer Starbucks. I think I even proclaimed #starbucksforever and thennnnn.... I found out that a Dunkin' Donuts was opening like 10 minutes from my house (it opened a week ago). I have to admit... I might go... to try the donuts! Believe it or not, I've never had one of their donuts, so I figure, why not?

... that I'm probably the only mom that still uses their monitor on their 3 1/2 year old. BUT I like being able to see what he's up to and it still works, so why not?

... that I hate when people announce the winner of a giveaway in a post and then expect you to email them. Umm, you used a rafllecopter, you must have my email, why can't you email me? Sometimes I don't get around to checking certain posts for a week and if I won (I never have), I might miss it!

... that I almost never make my bed. About 99% of the time, it is messy and how I left it when I got out of bed. About 1% of the time, I actually make it. And that 1%? It's usually for a special occasion.

... that this over hash tagging pictures thing kind of confuses and annoys me. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for hashtags, I use them too. And I get using relevant hashtags, but when you use the same ones no matter what the picture, I don't get it? Like I wouldn't hashtag a picture of a cup of coffee as #boymom and I wouldn't hashtag a picture of me and Mason at Disneyland as #workingmom. I get trying to get more eyes on your pictures but at least make the hashtags relevant?

... that I'm trying to be better and either only having wine with dinner OR dessert at night, but its not working so well and more often than not, I have both.

... that, speaking of wine, I had one glass of wine the other night at dinner and fell asleep at 7:30pm. Seth took Mason to take a bath, I laid on the couch, and BOOM. Out cold. And? I'm only slightly embarrassed about it.

... that I think horribly to Disney songs in the car because Mason likes it. And... I kind of don't hate it.

Can you relate to any of my confessions?

  1. Enjoy the donut. They are yummy! I agree with hashtags. If I use them they relate to the picture I'm sharing. Nothing wrong with a little evening nap on the couch. Been there!

  2. Yes to so many of these... Especially giveaway winners and hashtags! And a good ole nap on the couch is never a bad thing!

  3. We use the monitor and have no plans on stopping. We'll be total creepers when he's 6 and we still have the thing set up.

  4. Lol, my three-year old gently tells me "Mommy stop singing" so even he knows I'm an awful car singer ;)

  5. We still use the monitor (at 2.5) and I don't intend on stopping anytime soon. I need to know she's safe! I never make my bed either - it's just easier not to! Yes, yes, yes to the overuse of hashtags! It's so annoying to see a picture on IG and then two paragraphs worth of hashtags! Why???

  6. Try a Duncacinno at Dunkin Donuts. We have a Dunkin Donuts 5 min from my house and Starbucks in 20 min. away so I had to find something I liked! And I never make my bed either, glad I'm not the only one!

  7. Yay donuts! I never make my bed either... and I don't ask my boys to... #badmom?

  8. I would still be using Marcus' monitor if it hadn't shot craps shortly after he turned one. I'll be using Julia's until the thing dies.
Not to burst any bubbles, but I'm not much of a fan of DD donuts... I read an article once that they don't make them fresh. Soooo....
I've never figured out why people hosting giveaways don't email directly. Like you, there are days that may go by before I get around to reading a post. Just email!
The hash tags. Oh, the hash tags. I'm pretty sure you know where I stand on those. :)

  9. You mean people don't use a monitor with their 3 1/2 year old?? ;) When are we supposed to stop...kindergarten? haha! A part of me is being completely serious.

We love Dunkin' Donuts. How I wish the closest one wasn't 20 minutes away!

  10. Confession: I still have the video monitor in my 5 year old's room. Oops, one day I'll take it out...but until then...he doesn't seem to care and he knows it's in there. Mostly I just look at night when I'm going to bed so I don't have to go in his room and risk waking him up...or so I tell myself. And I haven't had a DD donut either...They opened one about 2 minutes/walking distance from my house. The kids have gotten them, but I'm standing strong! So far.

  11. Haha, love these!! We still have a video monitor in Tyson's room, it switches between the two kids and I like having it.
If our bed doesn't get made for the day for some reason, I have to make it before getting in bed. Always make the bed, ha!! :)

  12. I HATE making my bed so I rarely do it! I just pull up the comforter.
The donuts at Dunkin Donuts are REALLY good! I hope you like them!

  13. I always always always make my bed... it just feels better to get into a made bed at night. I can't explain it.

And I have SO much to say on hashtags, but I'm working on a full post about them. I will say that I only put 1-2 in the actual caption of the photo then put the rest in the comments - that way they're attached but aren't in the caption annoying people. Do I annoy you? ;) Haha.

  14. I feel you, I will be using a monitor for a while too. How old is too old?? Five?? IDk! ha. And I never make the bed either, unless guests are coming over that might want a home tour or something. That's it. The only time. I just don't see the point in it.

  15. Lol, Liz, we're identical twins on this post! I think I nodded my head in agreement on every.single.one ha!

  16. I don't like DD coffee either. I've wanted to like it so bad! They somehow always put a bazillion pumps of sugar in it and it's always too sweet. I'll stick to Starbucks too - however, if you're gonna get a donut - go butternut. Hands down the best donut they have!

  17. Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes!! The baby monitor on a 3 1/2 year old, the common courtesy of emailing a giveaway winner (it's like they require you to be a loyal follower and read every post the day it goes live), the bed making, and the overuse of hashtags. And I've never won a blog giveaway (that I know of) either. :( :(

  18. I'm the exact same with making beds!

  19. So, I need some wine recs because I cant even drink the stuff but want to lol. I like sweet, what should I get? And go! ;) Duncan donuts are ok, the donut holes are delish! Not sure why theyre better but they are!

    ReplyDelete
  20. you HAVE to get donuts. and then get me some. and we still have a monitor in lex's room! i like knowing what girlfriend is up to ;)

    ReplyDelete
  21. Um, you totally shouldn't be embarrassed about passing out after one glass of wine because that's my life every. single. night. If I put Cam to bed, I fall asleep in his bed. If Chad puts him to bed, I fall asleep on the couch. #losing

I just had DD strawberry donut croissant.....UM GO GET ONE!!!!!!!!

And I will keep a monitor in Cameron's room until he's tall enough to shut it off. Just saying. :)

  22. I like DD when they get the order right, and I like that it is literally about 1/10th of a mile down the road, but they always mess up the order! The staff are terrible, and my order there is just an iced latte! I like that at starbucks I can just rattle off the order and they get it perfect every time. It's always what I wanted. It's worth the extra dollar or so to me.

I actually do make my bed everyday-now...I never used to, but I read in Psychology Today that it makes you more productive the rest of the day. I tried it for 2 weeks and then it was habit and it irks me if it's unmade. I have to admit, I don't make it when I first wake up, but by noon it's made unless I'm washing the sheets.

  23. I'd skip the DD donut after all your fancy donuts. I think they are frozen to begin with anyway.
I still use the baby monitor. Aria still wakes me up all damn night though. =/
Yes, I hate that too about the giveaways. It hasn't happened to me or anything but I know a few bloggers that do that. I mean I get you want them to come back but who can read a blog f-ing daily?
lol what special occasion means you need to make your bed??

    ReplyDelete
  24. I am with you on the giveaway thing! So annoying when they say "email me"...umm, no...you email me! ha. I know that sounds tacky because they are giving you something...but I always feel like I am going to miss seeing them saying to email them. I've never been to a Dunkin Donuts!

    ReplyDelete
  25. We still use the monitor! We have 2 - one for each kid, and I honestly don't see stopping using one for Reese anytime soon. It's way better hearing them through that thing instead of them coming out of their room and creeping up next to your bed in my opinion :) YES to the hashtags - I don't understand when there's like 20 of them for a photo. I like them, but try and use only a few.

  26. I hate Dunkin Donuts too! I still use a monitor on Liam. AND if I win a giveaway I better be emailed damnit!
