Five on Friday.

Friday, January 20, 2017

Happy Friday!!! I decided to take today off as I am currently coming off of a 12 day in a row work week (work weeks?) and decided I could use a day off. At this point, I'm not really even sure what day it is, let alone what day of the week it is, but according to the calendar, today is in fact Friday, so I thought I would share five random things with you.

ONE.
Despicable Me 3

The day after Christmas, we went to see the movie Sing. The movie was super cute and the kids all enjoyed it; however, I thought it was a little long for a kids movie. BUT, having said that, one of the previews for the movie was Despicable Me 3. Normally I'm either SUPER in to the movies on the trailers or SUPER anti the movies on the trailers. This movie? I'm super in to! I bet I am more excited than Mason, but I can't wait for this movie to come out this summer! I loved the first two (Despicable Me and Despicable Me 2) as well as the Minions movie, so I know we will be taking Mason to see this in theaters!

TWO.
Blue Apron vs Hello Fresh.

I decided to try out one of these meal delivery services. And by I... I mean, I decided that Seth would try it out (lol). But really, I did consult him before ordering, especially since I was volunteering him for the unknown. I've been getting tons of coupons in the mail for Blue Apron, but read this review from Carolina Charm on her experience with Hello Fresh and Blue Apron and so I was torn. Since the coupon that I most recently got in the mail from Blue Apron doesn't expire until February, I thought I would try Hello Fresh first since she seemed to lean towards liking that one more. Our first box comes next week and I'll for sure report back on how we like it (maybe after I get the other one too so I can compare?). Has anyone ever tried either service? Likes? Dislikes? I thought if nothing else, I would use the discount and try out the service and maybe get some new recipes that we could add into the rotation of the same five meals a week :)

THREE.
Girl Scout Cookies New Flavor.

I heard on the radio the other day that the Girl Scouts were coming out with some new cookies this year. As a Girl Scout cookie lover, I was intrigued. And then they said the magic word -- S'MORES. And not only one kind, there's TWO. Oh man am I in trouble. I am SUCH a sucker for s'mores!

FOUR.
JulieAnnArt Valentine's Day Cards.

One of my favorite shops on Etsy is JulieAnnArt. Her tagline is "straight forward sentiments" and her cards are seriously SO funny. I would buy one of each for every occasion. I can't remember how I first found her, but I follow her on Instagram as well. I love that her cards are meaningful, yet funny, and lighthearted and can make a serious situation just a little bit lighter. My current favorites are all her Valentine's Day cards! I might or might not have bought Seth one of the above cards for Valentine's Day.

FIVE.
Valentine's for Mason's School.

Speaking of Valentine's Day, I was searching Pinterest the other day for things to do for Mason for his school (you know, TRYING to be proactive and start early this year) and I found tons of cute things but then... I was at Target the other day and saw these Paw Patrol valentines and I was done. I wanted it to be non-candy and the puzzle just seemed so fun and I was SOLD. Sometimes you just have to take the easy way out and give yourself some grace. But then I didn't know what to get his teachers... I'm sure they'll get TONS of candy, but really, who doesn't love these Lindt balls? #iknowido

And that's all for today! Have a great weekend!

  2. I tried both Blue Apron and Hello Fresh (I have reviews from both on my blog from last winter) and I preferred Hello Fresh. SO good. I'd still be doing it but we had to cut back on spending with Maci's arrival. My sister also uses Hello Fresh and loves it! I just ordered the s'mores cookies from a coworker's daughter yesterday - can't wait to try them!

  4. We love Hello Fresh! We've been using it on and off (off is usually to save money not because of quality) for over a year now and we have always enjoyed it whenever we've gotten it. The best part is that you'll want to actually recreate the recipes. A good way to test both products before you buy it is to actually pull up their recipes and buy the ingredients for two recipes you find yourself and see which recipe you actually like better. Than, if you want, you can choose one box or the other. We prefer hello fresh over blue apron because of the recipes, the ease of finding the items when we want to recreate a recipe (seriously, I've run all over NYC to try to find something for a Blue Apron recipe before), and the flavor profiles - everything just comes out tasting fresh and correctly seasoned. For some reason, for us, Hello Fresh is just simply better. So, I'd definitely try Hello Fresh.

  6. Yay for finally getting a day off! Too bad it's raining, hopefully you are snuggled up at home watching some chick flicks :) I tried Blue Apron and it wasn't for us. I thought it was expensive and the recipes aren't that easy and took forever to make. IMO. I was going to do a review...but it's so negative, I'm not sure if I want that out there in the world...hmmm..???

  16. Girl Scout Cookies cost twice as much as they used to! Makes it harder for me to buy them. I love Lindt chocolates!

  17. OMG, Dispicable Me 3?! I can't wait, ha!! I love those.
Definitely share how the meal box-thing goes, I really want to try one but feel like it's a little expensive and it seems like they might take a while to prepare (I'm for quick/easy meals)..?!

  18. The Girl Scouts are going to take all my money this year. S'mores. The end.
I can't wait to hear your thoughts on Hello Fresh. We've been getting coupons left and right for both Blue Apron and Hello Fresh, and I want to try out one of the services, but know of no one who's done them!
Those Paw Patrol Valentine's are amazing, and I know if Marcus sees them it'll be a done deal for us, too!

  19. Those Valentine's Cards are awesome, especially the husband one! I've tried both Hello Fresh and Blue Apron. I love the recipes and food selections. I just think they're kind of expensive and it takes a long time to prepare the meals.

  20. I haven’t seen previous for Despicable Me 3 yet. Now I am curious!! We have 4 or 5 girls at church that are in Girl Scouts and they said the S’mores are not selling very well. That surprised me! They said they’re just not as good as you’d think and really just meh. Such a bummer. I was looking forward to them. The Paw Patrol Valentines are perfect!

  21. bahaha those cards are amazing! I tell Chris he is my favorite husband all the time =)
I loved Despicable Me 2 way more than I thought I would, so cute. Even better than the first I think. Aria doesn't like Minions movie though, but she does like DM1. I can't remember what she thought of DM2.
