[Thoughts on Thursday] Confessions

Thursday, January 5, 2017

I must confess...

... that I wanted popcorn the other day and I knew we had some of those mini, personal size bags. I also kind of wanted chocolate. So, since I didn't have any M&Ms (for future reference, M&Ms and popcorn mixed together is SO GOOD), I thought I'd use chocolate chips. Same thing, right? WRONG. I hated it. And I never hate anything with chocolate!

... that the other day I was driving and came up at a stop light. I stopped at a normal distance to the crosswalk and in the middle of the lane, like anyone would do. A lady pulled up next to me, tried to pass me to turn right, but couldn't so she stopped. Then she honked. Excuse me, what? Lady, there's no room for me to move to let you turn. I just stayed there. The light seemed to take an annoyingly long amount of time to change. It finally changed and I started going and then I hear "honk! honk! honk!" What the heck?? Now she's honking because I DID move out of her way so she could turn? Seriously people, show some patience!

... that I wish my work chair was a heated seat like the heated seats in my car.

... that I went to Starbucks on Tuesday and they gave me a red cup and it secretly made me happier than I think it should have.

... that speaking of Starbucks, when I was driving in the parking lot, looking for a parking spot, I was behind a car that had to slam on their breaks to avoid hitting a person... all because the person FULL ON walked through the parking lot without looking. You'd think with all the poor drivers out there these days, people would be more self aware and watch out for themselves... especially in parking lots! (I know I do!) It truly boggles my mind how many people walk through parking lots assuming people will stop for them.

... that I get seriously annoyed that ONE PIECE of hair constantly falls out of my bun after I put my hair up in the morning. EVERY DAY.

... that I LOVED seeing all the decorated cars during the holidays... but I'd never decorate my car myself.

... that I called the LA Times to cancel my Sunday newspaper subscription and the guy wouldn't let me cancel. He said he was sorry I wanted to cancel, why was I cancelling, where did I get my news from now, did I know they had an app that you get "free" access to with a paid subscription, blah blah blah. I finally just said "no thank you" and then he said "well I can tell by the tone of your voice that you're in a hurry". Uhh. No. I'd just like to cancel and I don't want the run around as to why I shouldn't cancel and what other benefits I could get. He finally asks if there is anything they could do to keep me from cancelling and I said to give it to me for free. He said my subscription will be cancelled in two days. BAM!

... that I have a "new years resolution" type post that I've been meaning to post. Good thing "not procrastinating" is not one of my resolutions. Hopefully next week!

And I saved the best for last...

... that Mason has been doing this new thing lately where he pokes a woman in the boob and says "big stomach". His ABA therapist told me he did this at school the other day to his teacher and I was mortified... and I wasn't even there! I am both seriously embarrassed and secretly think it's funny at the same time. But mostly embarrassed and have been trying to explain why we DON'T do this. I literally have no idea where he learned it!

Can you relate to any of my confessions?

  1. I would have been so annoyed by that driver. What's wrong with people? And I agree that people are not self aware when walking through parking lots. I think I am overly because I am walking with the kids and I get so frustrated when I'm way out of the way but cars still drive by super close. Ummm safety people!! OMG Mason!! It is really funny, but I would be mortified too. Ha ah!

  2. I got a red cup yesterday and I loved it!! It was a fun surprise. Kids do the craziest things. My dad always tells me - it's not the first time they'll embarrass you or the last so just laugh it off :)

  3. Lol! Oh man these were all so funny, especially that last one. I have had the same struggle with a New Year post. I think as long as we get to them before the end of January we are okay, right?!

  4. These made me smile! I love the newspaper one. Um, yeah, I won't cancel if it's free! I mean, that's the guy's job, but annoying how hard it is to cancel things!

  5. HAHAHA! Oh my gosh, that last one! :D That made me crack up!
Ugh to that annoying driver. Seriously, some people need patience!

  6. That lady! Wow! Some people are such crazy drivers. It amazes me what people think they can and should get away with on the road. I saw a girl walk into a trashcan the other day at Target because she was looking down at her phone! I hope she was thankful it was just a trashcan and not a moving car! Geez! The decorated cars…yes! My sister in law has a Jeep and she put antlers and a Rudolph nose on the front. It was the cutest thing! Mason started goosing people in the butt for a while and we had to put a stop to that! Kids! hahahaha

  7. Oh my gosh! MASON! That's funny! When Macie was really little she would rub my boobs and say Mae's pillow! I don't know why? Maybe because I'm bigger chested then her Mom and she liked the comfort. All I know is when I was pregnant with C she would still insist on sitting on me and rub my chest.

  8. Ugh, bad driving is a pet peeve, since I do so much of it, it's even more annoying on the weekends when you get a bunch of weekend drivers who don't know how to drive. And yay to decorated cars, but like you I would never do it.

  9. Ugh people are stupid, ha!!
Give it to me free - I love it!!
Lastly, I love that kids do these things that are equally embarrassing and funny. They are so innocent and learning and it cracks me up. Teachable moments, I suppose. :)

  14. I think if you melted the choco chips first then drizzled it on the popcorn it would be better ;) Kinsey went through a boob poking stage too!!! Haha, its just body awareness but so embarrasing, right?

  17. These always make me laugh. I could totally go for a heated chair at school... but then I'd never want to get out of it to teach!

  19. That's so crazy about the newspaper guy! Persistent isn't always a good thing! And Noah will sometimes poke my boob but actually say booby. I hope I never find out he's doing that to his teacher 😳

  20. Bahaha, Mason!! Wyatt went through that phase earlier this year...thankfully(??) he only did it to me!

  21. All joking aside, drivers and pedestrians are seriously the worst in California.
I have been hoping each time I go to S'bucks that I'll be slipped a red cup. The regular ones are just so blah after TWELVE festive ones for almost two months!
Your answer to the Times was was THE best! I wish I could have been there to hear the whole thing go down. LOL!!!
And, I'm honestly DYING from laughter over Mason's "big stomach" comments. BAHAHAHAHA!!! That. Is. Awesome.
