Holiday Cards with Minted + a Sneak Peek!

Wednesday, December 2, 2015

I'll admit it. I'm kind of old school. I prefer hard copy books to digital books. I prefer a pen and paper planner to my phone calendar. And I LOVE sending (and receiving!) Christmas cards in the mail. There's just something so special about seeing everyone's families every year and getting to hang up the cards I receive in my home. It makes me so happy this time of year to get mail that is not a bill and to be able to see my friends. I literally might keep them up all year long if Seth lets me! This year I decided to try something a little different to hang them, something I had seen others do before. I plan to "tie" a ribbon around my pantry door and hang the cards on the ribbon when they come in. It's kind of hard to explain through words, so I'll have to share a photo when I finally get some cards to hang up.

One thing I love about the holiday season is getting to choose OUR Christmas cards! And actually I should use the term "Christmas cards" loosely since we always say "Happy Holidays" of some variation on ours. We have family members that celebrate Hanukkah and family members that celebrate Christmas. So, while I'm sure the Jewish family members wouldn't be offended that we sent them a Merry Christmas card, I still prefer to say "Happy Holidays" and cover all my bases.

This year I was lucky enough to be able to order cards from Minted and I absolutely love them! The quality is amazing, the shipping time was fast, and not to mention, the people in the photo are pretty good looking too if I do say so myself!

One of my favorite features of Minted's website is that I could actually see my picture on all the card designs. This helped TREMENDOUSLY because some designs that I thought I would like (like the foil pressed cards - in gold, silver, and rose gold! all the heart eyes!), I actually didn't like with our photo. When looking for holiday cards, I like the picture to be the star of the show. I want to get across the message of "Happy Holidays" but I don't want it to be overwhelming, so I tend to go for the more subdued designs.

What I also love about Minted is that they have unique designs freshly sourced from their community of independent artists and curated through competition. In fact, when I received my order, there was even a little note from the artist whose design I chose. A little touch that I loved! While I know that this is probably a standard message that is given to everyone who buys her design, I love the little touch that makes you know that you're really supporting a "real person", if you will.

I personally like my cards to be tradition, so I chose clean lines for my card, but Minted does also offer 9 unique die cut shapes to choose from. They also offer a variety of backer options to add additional photos (which I did!), text, and customization options to your holiday cards.

If you didn't guess it, the above pictures are the runners up. As much as I'd love to show you what our holiday cards are going to look like, I just mailed them off the other day and don't want to ruin the surprise for anyone getting them who might be reading my blog, so you'll just have to check my Instagram and wait for the final reveal to see which design I chose! But... as a teaser, I will give you a sneak peek at the back of our card...

Have you ordered your holiday cards yet? In case you haven't... a little birdie told me that Minted is extending their Cyber Monday sale of 20% off holiday cards + priority shipping for the price of standard shipping until Thursday, December 3, 2015 at 12:00pm, PST.

A special thank you to Savvy Sassy Moms and Minted for sponsoring this post. I was provided with a gift card from Savvy Sassy Moms and Minted to purchase my holiday cards. As always, all opinions are all mine.

  10. Love 'em!! You always have the BEST washi tape..!! :) I think I'm going to display my cards similar to what you're going to do, I don't have an official 'holder' so I was just going to use mini-clips and hook the cards to ribbon.
