I'm excited to be back again today co-hosting this link up with Becky and some other fabulous ladies! Yes, that's right, we've decided to make $10 at Target a link up, so if you posted today, please link up with us below so we can see your awesome $10 hauls!
This month I had a little bit of trouble shopping for myself. At first I was planning to go to Target the day after Valentine's Day and get some candy on sale. But then I realized, I probably don't need any more candy (I mean, we're still working on the six boxes of Girl Scout cookies that we bought from my niece), so one Saturday morning, I decided to look around and I was able to find some goodies.
As you can see by my receipt, I cheated a little. I had a $5 gift card so I let myself cheat and spend a little over knowing that the gift card would bring me back under. So even though I technically only spent $7.06 of my own money, the total did come to $12.06.
Next month I'm challenging myself to keep my total under $10. Last month I went over (by $0.26) also so next month I need to get back on track!
I had so much fun shopping for myself and am excited to continue this link up! Now, link up and then hop around and check out how the rest of my co-hosts spent their $10!
I heard that Essie came out with some new colors so I decided to check them out. My Target only had a few in stock and when I saw this gorgeous red, I knew I wanted to try it. It's called "life of the party" and is #1148.
Here is the nail polish on. It's a real pretty shade of red. I painted both my toe nails and my finger nails on Valentine's Day and they still look almost as perfect today. There's a little growth at the bottom of my finger nail bed, but other than that, no chips! I used the Orly base coat, then two coats of nail polish, and then the Essie gel top coat and it looks almost perfect a week later. I swear by that Orly base coat and the Essie gel top coat now!
In addition to the nail polish, I picked up a couple new make up brushes. I'd been wanting to get new ones for a while, but all the ones I saw at the store or at Sephora were significantly more than I wanted to spend. So when I saw these e.l.f. brand ones at Target for only $1 each (!!!), I snagged some. I've been using them ever since I bought them and I love them! Best $3 I've spent in a while!

ReplyDeleteI'm so going to try this....

I want to do this! It looks like such a fun lil challenge. However, we don't have a Target in my town. Sigh. If I happen to hit one up though, I will have to try to do this for sure & linkup next month. :)
ReplyDeleteOoo, I need some new makeup brushes! Glad to know they're a good price at Tarjay. I totally forgot about this linkup, so- next month! So fun!
ReplyDeleteI thought I would be able to nail this challenge, but not so much. I failed big time. I love the nail polish color. And Elf's makeup brushes are so great for the price!!
ReplyDeleteSneaky sneaky with that gift card ;). I love that color too!
ReplyDeleteI love that red color! And I totally need to remember this link up for next month!!! :)
ReplyDeleteGreat nail color! I have honestly never bought an Essie nail polish, but I need to change that. I rarely paint my nails because I don't feel like it stays on (fingers that is), but if yours lasted that long I need to invest in those products and try it again. Nothing like some new makeup brushes either. On my list! I haven't been to Target recently, so I need to make it does there so I can link up. :)
ReplyDeleteI can't even go in Target anymore because I will definitely wind up spending WAY more than $10!
ReplyDeleteI spend way more than $10! In fact I don't think I've ever spent less than $100... Eek! Since its 20 minutes away I stock up on groceries, gifts, decor, and a bunch of random stuff whenever we go... It's bad! While I've never tried the elf brushes I've liked their other stuff in the past, and you can't beat their prices!
ReplyDeleteI have the same ELF crease brush and love it! Did you know that those Essie polish colours were all previously released are are being brought back to celebrate one of Essie's anniversaries? The one you're wearing was originally released in 2002. Just a fun little nail polish tidbit! :)
ReplyDeletePretty color! And I wouldn't call it cheating, I'd call it smart!

ReplyDeleteI had every intention of linking up this month but then never made it back to Target :( But Im marking my calendar now! E.L.F. products are great for the price point!
ReplyDeleteI have been getting a ton of ELF products lately! Also I am so glad to see you paint your toes so much better than your nails ;)
ReplyDeleteOoh, LOVE that color!
ReplyDeleteLove your picks! I thought about getting some ELF before I went but then forgot:(

ReplyDeleteGreat finds! I love ELF brushes and that red polish is so pretty :)
ReplyDeleteI don't think using a gift card is cheating. I call that smart shopping!
ReplyDeleteThat red is such a pretty color! And for $1 the Elf brushes are great!
I only use ELF brushes now after getting some and thinking that for $1 I'm getting a heck of a deal!
ReplyDeleteI need to get the Essie Gel Coat and give it a try. I love the gel nail but hate the price and process at the salon.
