Before I share my post with you today, I wanted to thank each of you who linked up with us for our first day of the summer bucket list link up last Friday! I really enjoyed reading each of your posts and was excited to gain some new ideas for more summer fun for my family!

Last weekend we did something that I've been wanting to do for months.
We went on a picnic by the airport and watched the airplanes come in for a landing at the airport!
Mason has been obsessed with airplanes recently. Whenever he hears or sees an airplane flying, he immediately points up and gets a huge smile on his face. His Gymboree class is somewhat close to the airport but must be in the direct flight path of landing at the airport because the airplanes are huge looking when they fly above the parking lot and Mason gets SO EXCITED to see them. So I knew my boy would love to go see them closer.
Our first stop was to pick up dinner. Seth was just talking the other day about the fact that he hadn't had In n Out in a while, so I knew that would be our picnic dinner of choice.
Our first stop was to pick up dinner. Seth was just talking the other day about the fact that he hadn't had In n Out in a while, so I knew that would be our picnic dinner of choice.
We swung by the drive thru and then headed to our picnic location. My main problem with choosing a picnic location was that there are mainly businesses by the airport, so I put Seth in charge of that portion of the evening. He was able to find a green belt in between the buildings so we headed there. It ended up being the perfect location.
We set up our picnic blanket and started to eat. Mason was in heaven - eating his hamburger, dipping his finger (instead of his fry) in the ketchup, and drinking out of a big boy cup.
After dinner, we ran around, played with the soccer ball, and waited for planes to fly by.
We all had such an amazing night picnic-ing and watching airplanes that we want to do it at least once a month. I'm so happy that we were able to find such a nice, quiet, secluded picnic area that had such great views of the planes landing!

Don't forget to link up with us again next week, sharing the fun activities that you've been up to this summer!
I LOVE it!! What a fun (& yummy!) way to share a sweet Summer evening with your precious family! :)
ReplyDeleteWhat an awesome place to have a picnic! Love it!!
ReplyDeleteOk, this is like my perfect summer activity! I'm SO jealous that you have In N Out's by you - I could go for a double double right about now (nevermind it's 10:30 in the morning :) Looks like you all had such a fun time!
ReplyDeleteWhat an AWESOME idea!!! I'm going to suggest this to the hubby. LAX is the closest airport, and there isn't much grassy space, but I'm sure we could manage something. I know Marcus would absolutely LOVE this!!
ReplyDeleteI'm so jealous you have In & Out! What a perfect evening :)
ReplyDeleteThis is so cute!! We live right by the airport and Milo LOVES watching the planes out the window... and I love watching him watch the planes... it's a win win :)
ReplyDeleteI know we've discussed this before but I LOVE in n out. I haven't had it for like two months now....and it will probably be a very long time before I have it again. SO SAD!! That sauce is like pure Courtney happiness.
ReplyDeleteI want in on the next one!!!! I wish we had in n out...honestly they need to expand the rest of the country is jealous. We live by the airport but not close enough for the planes to be THAT close. Aria use to get so excited over them but I think she is perhaps jaded now haha, rarely points them out. I wish you could still go watch them take off...stupid security.
ReplyDeleteA picnic by the airplanes would have been like heaven for my toddler! Sounds like so much fun!
ReplyDeleteHow fun!!! Little boys sure do love airplanes!! You got some great pictures, too. We've been wanting to try this place about 1.5 hours from our house...it's a restaurant on an airport. They have glass walls so that you can see from the inside, or you can dine outside too. Now I really want to go after seeing your fun pictures!
ReplyDeleteAwesome!! Looks like a perfect evening. I love the squat and drink from a straw. :)
ReplyDeleteWOW what a great idea! A picnic dinner AND airplanes! Callie loves them too! She will point them out and then chant "airplane come back! Mama I catch airplane!" It's pretty hilarious. We live close to a smaller airport and I bet we could get close enough to watch them. Great great idea!!
