This weekend was a good one. We had just enough plans to keep us busy but not enough to be overwhelming. Just the way I like it.
The weekend started off on Friday night when I got to see the sweetest little addition to our family, my new niece, Kendall. She was born on Friday around 1pm and my sister-in-law and I went to see her around 7pm. And holy baby fever! I'm pretty sure we're one and done, but there's just something about holding a new born baby and feeling their soft skin. Thankfully I get to visit whenever I want.
Saturday morning we had lots of things on the agenda. Mason needed a hair cut bad, so Seth took him to that while I went to wait in line for the Build and Grow. Believe it or not, at least at our Lowe's, people line up as early at 9:30am for the 10am craft. And then, people line up in a non-reserve line to see if there are any extra kits. I'm telling you, it's madness. So I went over like 20 minutes early to wait in line (even though we always reserve) and Seth and Mason met me there. This Sunday's Build and Grow was for Black Widow's Sky Cycle and Mason was obsessed.
After the Build and Grow, we headed over to Costco again (since it's right next door), bought a few things and by some miracle, made it out of there spending less than $100. It was a rare occasion.
Seth went to go sign some papers with his dad and I brought Mason home and barely made it home like 2 seconds after he fell asleep. I figured I had 2 options : try to put him down for his nap early or keep him up and pray he would sleep later. I chose option A and by some miracle it worked and he slept from 11:15am-2:30pm. After he woke up, I fed him a small lunch (since he slept through lunch) and then we were off to our friends Lauren and Seth's house for a make-up 4th of July BBQ/playdate. Mason had napped significantly longer than Logan and Logan had been asking for Mason all afternoon so Mason waking up couldn't have come at a better time. We headed over there, hung out, Mason ate an enormous amount of chips, the boys played, we ate dinner and dessert, and then headed home around 7:30pm. It was perfect.
Sunday morning we picked up our friend Vickie and headed back over to Lauren and Seth's for donuts and then to see the Minion movie. This was Logan's first movie in the movie theater and Mason's second movie. And we were all pretty excited to see the Minions! The movie was at 10:50am, which we thought was perfect before nap time, but poor Logan didn't quite make it through the whole movie. Mason, on the other hand, was hooked. He sat in his own seat the whole time, ate popcorn, and stared at the screen and loved the movie!
After the movie, we headed home for some lunch and Mason's nap which was followed by doing some laundry and grocery shopping. We ate dinner, put Mason to bed, and then tried the fudgsicles that I made the night before. All I can say is... you need these popsicle molds. I mean, seriously? How cute! And once you eat the popsicle? Their little skeleton is left.
And now? I'm already dreaming of next weekend because we have lots of fun planned! Why? It's Mason's THIRD birthday on Saturday! I'm warning you in advance... lots of overgramming is sure to happen on Saturday and Sunday.
You've been warned.
Happy Monday!
The naptime risk game...glad it worked out for you! Can't wait to see what you do for Mason's birthday! Liam's is only 1.5 weeks away and I have done no planning.... I guess a newborn & a three week vacation right before will prevent some party planning.
ReplyDeleteWhat a perfect weekend! I'm glad you were able to have your 4th of July BBQ, even if it was a week late. My experience when noah falls asleep early for nap is that he needs the extra sleep and will usually transfer. Good thing that was the case with Mason too! Not sure when we will take noah to his first movie. I wish there was a kid movie like cars out for Noah's first since I think that would keep his attention more. I still haven't put on a movie at home for him to watch, so I'm not even sure if he'd sit the whole time. We do watch lots of shows in a row, so I'm optimistic. What are some of masons favorites?
ReplyDeleteWhat a great summer weekend! I've heard the minions movie is pretty cute; glad that Mason enjoyed it. Those popsicles are so stinking cute! I saw when you posted about them last week, but seeing them with the shapes and then skeletons... love it! And yay for Mason napping well after running errands. There's been a few times where Reese has fallen asleep in the car and it messes up naps and the rest of the day, so we make sure not to be in a car after 11:30 :)
ReplyDeletesounds like a great weekend. i try not to wish the weeks away, but i really do love weekends.
ReplyDeletethose pop molds are fabulous!! and so is mason sitting like a big boy in his movie!! i LOVE that it went so well!! i need to see minions ASAP!

What a great weekend! My niece was born Friday afternoon right around the same time! I got to see her Friday and Saturday and she is so cute! I love a brand new baby! :)
ReplyDeleteWe have yet to try the Build and Grow. I think part is because I just know they will be full, and the other part is the nearest Lowes is a good 15-20 minutes away. Whomp whomp.
ReplyDeleteThose two little shirtless boys were adorable to see on IG. Sounds like they had a great time together.
Cannot wait to see/hear all about the 3rd birthday party!!!
What a great weekend! Our Lowes is the same exact way, it was MADNESS. Honestly I just stopped taking the girls. We still try and remember to hit up Home Depot since there's is from 9-12 and they don't run out of kits but if I had a little guy I would probably keep on tackling Lowes too.
ReplyDeleteThose popsicle molds are ADORABLE.
Wahoo for 3 the weekend is going to be here soon and it will be awesome!
