[BOY MOMS] Natasha from Schue Love

Monday, March 10, 2014

Hello!  My name is Natasha, wife, mom, and author of Schue Love, a lifestyle blog.  Admittedly, my blog focuses a lot around Ethan, my 20 month old toddler, though I do try to throw in some design, fashion and recipes from time to time!  ;)

I'm so glad that Elizabeth asked me to be here today because I think "boy moms" all have a special bond with one another.  We, as women, fall in love with these little men that we call our sons, and there's truly nothing as special as a relationship between mother and son.  The term "mama's boy" never sounded so sweet to me, now that I have a son.  I hope Ethan is always a mama's boy, whether it's giving me sloppy kisses now, or calling to check in when he's 30, all while chasing around his own son one day.

I will admit, it was a little hard to adjust to in the beginning.  Of course, my number one concern was having a healthy baby, but then I thought...oh boy...a boy!  I grew up with three brothers and know how physical and competitive they can be.  Not to mention, stinky, messy, and everything in between!

But now that he's here...I am always blown away by how sweet Ethan is.

He loves holding my hand...and giving me kisses...or pats on the back.  He loves to hum to music...and of course dance!  He's such a stylish little dude...dressing him has been so much fun.  He's smart and handsome and even when he's a stinker, I still think he's a cutie.  He has me wrapped around his little finger, especially when he says "Mama" or rests his head on my shoulder.  I think I expected a little girl to be sweet, but I never knew how very sweet a little boy could be.

And I love knowing that he'll always be my little boy...even when he's grown.  I can't even imagine him being bigger than me...let alone taking a girl on his first date or going to his first dance.  I hope we bring him up to be a gentleman and have strong character...to treat women with respect and carry himself with dignity.  But for now, the thought of cheering him on at a baseball game or helping him catch frogs in the summer time, literally makes me giddy.  I'm trying to savor each moment and remember all of these sweet moments, because I know they go fast.

Knowing I am surrounded by the two best boys in the world, makes me one happy girl.  Being a "boy mom" has really opened my eyes to what a rewarding job it is.

Thanks again to Elizabeth for having me to today!!

  2. What a great feature! My first was a boy and I love him so much and the term "mamas boy" is something I look at so differently now that I have one, too! I love that I had a boy first, even though I did really want a girl! I have a girl now, too, so I luckily have one of each :) But boys just love their mommies so much! I love the bond between mother and son.

    Great post!

    1. It is seriously SO SPECIAL the mother/son bond. I cannot imagine my life without my sweet little boy. I'm sure I would have an amazing bond with a daughter as well, but there's just something about a mama and her boy that is so great :)
