Dating your husband doesn't have to be anything extravagant or expensive, it just has to be the two of you together. And while we had a completely different thing planned for our August date than what we ended up doing, we still had a great time!
I know it might not seem like anything special, but we made it a point to have breakfast together. On the weekends, in the mornings, we usually throw something together in the morning before we hit the road to drop Mason off or go run errands or whatever, but we rarely actually go out to eat. (Which actually sucks because breakfast is the BEST meal!) So, we dropped Mason off at school and drove on over to Brueggar's Bagels and Starbucks and had a little breakfast date.
It was short and sweet but delicious and it was nice to get out and have a meal together without a toddler running around trying to eat half our meal before we can get the bite in our mouth.
After breakfast, we ran a few errands including our favorites, Target and Costco, and then headed home to hang out a bit before we needed to go get Mason. The date was short, but we're determined to have more of them since we've been given this extra time together on Saturdays now. Until next time! :)

We had plans to try this last weekend with Mason but things didn't work out and we still haven't gone.
I would still like to try it though so it remains on the list!

Those sandwiches look delicious! Isn't it amazing how before kids, it's easy to take for granted how nice just enjoying a simple breakfast together can be. Sneaking in some alone time is great! Though trying out those tacos on the beach sounds great too... Hopefully you can still try it ou soon!
ReplyDeleteSuch a great idea! I love a good day date :) sounds like you two had a great time!
ReplyDeleteDay dates are so fun! Those sandwiches look amazing!
ReplyDeleteHow fun, and that sandwich looks so good! You know I didn't realize that we were in the same area! Apparently it didn't register when I read your "about Me" page, doh! Love doing the mundane errands with just your spouse, no kids makes for a good time :)
ReplyDeleteSo cheesy but it totally warmed my heart to see yall sharing a sandwich! Haha that's true love!
ReplyDeleteDating your husband is so much fun :) whether it's a dinner date, breakfast or just coffee, always important to have that time together.

Thanks for being real. Big date plans don't always work out but simple dates can be the best!
ReplyDeleteMmmmm...that looks delish! Day dates are a brilliant idea! When Mac was really little and I would practically have a nervous breakdown anytime I wasn't with him at night, Ryan and I started having some day dates during the week. We'd meet for lunch at a fancy restaurant on our lunchbreak or one time we even snuck away for a matinee of a movie in the middle of the day! It was glorious! We need to start doing that again!
ReplyDeleteAny kind of date is good & I LOVE going on breakfast dates with my hubby cuz breakfast foods are my favorite - waffles, scrambled eggs, crispy bacon & hash browns - yum! :)
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like the perfect date to me! Day dates are sometimes easier and less stressful in my opinion!
ReplyDeleteDay Dates are some of the best! Usually that means the places you go aren't as busy. And, breakfast is one of my favorites to go out to eat (I hate making breakfast, which is why I love going out for that meal)!
ReplyDeleteWhen you have a chance you MUST go to US Taco! We went there a while back and it was sooooo good!
This sounds like a PERFECT date! One I would loooove to soak up with Eric right about now! Good for you and Seth!
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with you, dates don't have to be elaborate or expensive to be fun! One on one time with the hubby is gift enough. But really, bagels and coffee is a big perk :)
ReplyDeleteI love dating my husband, even if it is to Home Depot just the two of us. ;)
ReplyDeleteI love this idea. My husband and I need time to just talk without our almost 4-year-old repeating everything until we say we will talk about it later and NEVER do. Thanks for the encouragement :)
ReplyDeleteI'm still thinking that this is fabulous!!
ReplyDeleteOooh, that looks good! You made me hungry! Day dates are really great though. This year, what Scott and I have been doing is just taking a day off together. Since Reese is at my mom's, we spend the day running errands, going out to lunch, or sometimes driving to Illinois to go to Ikea :) It's so nice to have time just the 2 of you!
ReplyDeleteThat looks so yummy! I love this. It really is just about being together. So glad you had a nice, simple morning together.
ReplyDeleteWay to make the most of that time. :) Those sandwiches have my mouth watering..!!
ReplyDeleteWe have a few day dates planned, we just need to make happen..
I completely agree...just being together and spending time together is the best and so important to any relationship! Glad you guys have this time together!
