Flashback Five on Friday [Fourth of July Rewind] + #StarSpangledKids Link Up

Friday, July 1, 2016

Happy fourth of July weekend! I'm pretty excited to not only have a long weekend off work, but to also be able to celebrate with friends and family this weekend!

Before we start the weekend, I thought I'd share a couple festive things that I did last year.

ONE.
Red, white (clear), and blue ice cubes.

Simple yet festive. All I did was fill up some ice cube trays with some cut strawberries and some blueberries, added water, and froze. A few hours later and I had festive water!

TWO.
Bomb pop wine sparkler.

Add some of your favorite wine, a bomb pop, and a sparkler and you've got yourself a festive and fun drink!

THREE.
Cheesecake strawberries.

So easy and so delicious! My friend first introduced me to these and they're so easy to make. Just cut the stems off the strawberries, core them a little, and fill with homemade cheesecake filling. Crumb some graham crackers, sprinkle on top, and try not to eat them all before your guests arrive!

FOUR.
Blueberry pancakes and strawberries.

Take regular pancakes and add blueberries. Serve with a side of strawberries.

FIVE.
Fireworks craft.

You can find exact instructions on Pinterest but the basic gist is to tape a bunch of straws together and make a "firework" pattern. Put some red paint and blue paint on a plate and let your kid go to town. Add some glitter for an extra special touch!

SIX.
Fourth of July inspired cupcakes.

These cupcakes are the EASIEST! All I did was bought a cupcake mix from the store, made the cupcakes according to the instructions on the box, and then frosted them with vanilla frosting. I cut up some strawberries and then arranged the blueberries and strawberries on top of the cupcakes to look like a flag. Easy peasy and super festive!

SEVEN.
Sparklers.

No Independence Day would be complete without some fireworks... of the safe for children kind!

EIGHT.
Bomb pops.

Pretty self explanatory :)

NINE.

  12. So much red, white and blue goodness in this post!! Your food looks amazing. I've always wanted to try those berry ice cubes - do you eat the berries after the ice cube melts or are they more just to flavor the water and toss?? Love those pancakes and that sparkler art is adorable. Hope you have a wonderful 4th!

  17. I've seen those strawberry cheesecake things before and I want to make them so bad. I have a thing for cheesecake but I fear I wouldn't stop eating them. I love those ice cubes too. Then when it melts you have the fruit in the drink, so smart!
