Hanging Out at the Mouse House... and Other Weekend Happenings.

Monday, July 11, 2016

It was another great weekend and I'm just not ready to admit that it's officially over. My friend, Stacy, and her husband and son live abroad and it's always such a special treat when they come to visit. They were here this weekend and I got to spend all day Friday with them at Disneyland. This was the first time that I had seen her and her family since I went to visit in Sacramento in October, shortly after her son was born. Gosh, he's grown so much. It was so fun to see her, I swear we can go a whole year without seeing each other and not talking as often as we'd like and it feels like just yesterday that we were together. Those are special friends. We met while working at the bookstore in college and it was an instant friendship. Ahh, the good ol days.

We met up with Stacy's high school friend, Melanie, and her family as well. I didn't know Mel and her family previously but we became quick friends through Stacy and she was so gracious to let me stay at her house in October when I came up to visit with Stacy. They just got Disneyland passes and I'm super excited to meet up with them when they come back down the next time. And! Funny story... her older son and Mason have the exact same birthday! Her son was actually due a couple weeks after Mason was due. Mason was five days early and her son was a bit more early than that! Talk about an exciting day for Auntie Stacy :)

Anyway, enough small talk. Here's our weekend recap in pictures.

Friday : Disneyland

sooooooooo unsanitary with his face on the table BUT this is what happens when you skip your nap because you're having so much fun at Disneyland and then you sit down for a snack... he fell asleep mid chew.

Saturday : Kendall's 1st Birthday Party

Our niece, Kendall, had her 1st birthday party on Saturday and we were so happy to be able to attend! It was Mickey Mouse Clubhouse themed and so much fun. My sister in law had a bubble lady come and Mason was OVER THE MOON excited the whole time and then had a blast swimming in the pool as well. They also celebrated the July birthdays (since there are so many on both sides of the family) and Mason got his first taste of birthday celebrating. He was so excited and barely let us finish singing before he blew out his candle.

Sunday : Nothing!

On Sunday, we had no plans. And it was amazing. After full days of fun on both Friday and Saturday, we needed this. We had a VERY lazy morning of staying in our pjs until around 10am and then got ready and were planning to go to lunch, but Mason seemed tired, so we opted for a quick grocery store run and In n Out instead. Then I had high hopes of Mason napping and thought it would be easy since he seemed so tired earlier, but I swear he must have dozed off for 0.7 seconds in the car and he refused for the longest time. I had to sit in his room with him (he's been screaming bloody murder whenever we leave the room at night and it's transitioned over to naps now) but he finally fell asleep and I was able to sneak out. Then we tried a new (healthy!) recipe with cauliflower rice for dinner and watched Planes : Fire and Rescue. Overall, just the end to the weekend that we needed.

Next weekend we have TONS of fun planned and to be honest, I'm a bit bummed that I have to work a full 5 days this week. Whomp whomp. Here's hoping it goes by fast!

  5. What a fantastic weekend, especially getting to see your friend AND go to Disneyland! That picture of him sleeping, hilarious...And have you seen they have the cauliflower rice at Trader Joe's in the frozen section. Super easy to make (as in you just heat it up), and yummy! We're going to try cauliflower mash tonight, hopefully it's as good as the riced version!
