[DIY] IKEA Hack : LATT Table - The Inspiration

Thursday, May 1, 2014

I finally did it.

I finally bought a LATT table for Mason.

And I couldn't be more excited!

I've been seriously drooling over everyone else's IKEA hacks on their LATT tables for the past couple months. I wanted to get a table so bad, but I kept talking myself out of getting one for Mason because we don't really have room for it. BUT, then I had a stroke of genius and figured out how we could make it work. It involves taking the glider from Mason's room to Seth's grandma's house and then moving his Cars table up to his room. It is a lot of moving but it is totally doable and I think it will all be worth it in the end.

It's not even built yet and I already can't wait for him to be able to have a table all of his own. He can eat breakfast/lunch/dinner and snacks there. He can color there. He can play with his cars/trucks/planes/trains there. He can build towers out of Legos. He can do whatever he wants!

Here is my blank canvas :

And here is my inspiration for how I want it to look like :
one // two // three // four (spray paint from Home Depot)

How am I going to mesh all of those images in to one amazing table? Well, that my friends, is going to be a surprise! We bought the table and the spray paint last weekend and hope to be able to start work on the table this weekend and possibly finish the next weekend. Step 1 was buying the table and now step 2 is trying to find time in between work and already made plans to have enough nap times to start and finish.

But, if nothing else, let me promising this on the internet keep me accountable.... I will have a finish product to share before the end of May! Today is May 1st. That gives me 31 days or 4 1/2 weekends to finish this product. I think that is a do-able goal.

Time to start DIY-ing!

  6. Oooo! I love that Lego one! The cool thing about these tables are that they grow with the little ones through all their crazy adventures. Ours looks like this right now: http://www.theeverydaymomma.com/2013/11/ikea-latt-childrens-table-hack.html I think I am going to have to upgrade to the Lego top soon. It looks like you can take it off? How cool!
