This past weekend, we went to the fair.
The fair that I say EVERY year that I hate.
And I don't want to go back next year.
And remind me that when I say I want to go, that I really don't.
So, the time came again and I said I wanted to take Mason to the fair.
Seth rolled his eyes and then of course we went (happy wife, happy life, right?).
And you know what happened?
I HAD FUN. I did!
My only wish? That Mason didn't fall asleep so soon and we got to go on some rides.
Not the upside down, scare the *beep* out of me rides...the kiddie rides.
The other rides? Scare me half to death because why do I trust something that just came off a truck and got re-assembled for the one millionth time to take me upside down? No thanks.
But that lady bug ride that goes in circles twice at 2mph. That's my style.
Turns out we had to skip the rides this year, but we did get to enjoy the animals and the food and the entertainment!
chile relleno burger // bacon wrapped pickles
To sum up the fair...
It was suuuuuuper hot and humid and we were all super sweaty.
We ate some fried food.
We saw some animals.
We took some cheesy photos.
We walked around. A lot.
We took the shuttle in to avoid paying for parking and it didn't have AC on the way back.
And that's pretty much all.
And - to be honest - I'm pretty excited about the fair next year!

Today was our last Summer Bucket List Link Up... I can't believe it's already over! I feel like it was just yesterday that we were sharing the news about our link up.
I want to thank everyone who has linked up with us every week (or even just a few weeks!). I've really enjoyed reading each of your posts and I've definitely gotten some inspiration for some fun things to do with Mason!

Lol! Confession, I've never been to a fair (w rides) because I'm a ride snob and refuse to go on something for exact words you used! I grew up next to the boardwalk where the rides weren't comparable to Disneyland, but at least they were stationary and tested each day, no potential missing nuts and bolts!!
ReplyDeleteYeah I loved the fair rides until that boat one that goes from side to side but not in a complete loop...ya know, that one? it broke while I was on it. The bottom panel whatever fell off or into the bottom of the boat. And I was sitting there without any place to put my feet feeling like I was going to fall out. No trust! I'm totallly down with animals and fair food though! The ferris wheel always terrified me. It is slow and moves a lot and high. I prefer my death to be fast and fun I suppose. But animals and funnel cake? yeah I can handle that!
ReplyDeleteAw yay! I love fairs. Must be my parent's farm background. Glad you had fun!
ReplyDeleteAnd by parent's I mean parents'. I'm a grammar freak.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you had FUN!!! :D
ReplyDeleteLex was one super sad camper when she learned she was too short for like every ride! But we had a blast at the fair too :)
ReplyDeleteWe have avoided the fair because of the heat, bedtimes/naptime, etc but looks like Mason still had fun! Maybe just maybe next year we'll go :)
ReplyDeleteWoohoo for a positive fair experience!! We are going to the Iowa State Fair next week and I can't wait! I freaking love the fair, and I hope Marcus shares my enthusiasm!
ReplyDeleteThe best part of the fair is the food!!! Yummy! Myles loved the animals last time too. He was pretty scared of most of the rides though. We are going this week so maybe I'll get him to go on more! Love all the fun things you guys are doing this summer!
ReplyDeleteLike you, I'm not a fan of fair rides- not-so-trustworthy (plus I'm a chicken). Sounds like you had a fun time though, despite the heat. Our state fair is going on this week and we're going on Saturday with my parents. Mostly I'm just looking forward to the yummy fried food (cheese fries! corndogs! cream puffs!) and also seeing the animals with Reese.
ReplyDeleteHaha glad you had fun!! :) That food looks ammmazing!! How were the bacon wrapped pickles..?!?!
