A little background on the hashtag...
This photo project kind of just came about a couple months ago. I was still working on my one photo a day when I started going to the post office more for work. I'd been doing the same thing, in the same routine, since I started my job in June 2015, but all of a sudden one random day before my January event this year (2016), I kept my envelopes to mail over night. The next morning, I let Mason do the mailing when we went to check the PO Box. I took a picture and did the same thing the next day and then... the hashtag was born. #postofficeadventuresofmasonb
It's quite possibly the longest hashtag ever, but I feel like it describes the situation perfectly. Taking Mason to the post office in the morning is always an adventure! It literally happened by chance but now it is one of my favorite things to do with him. It might seem like a hassle to some, to have to go to the post office to mail something, but for me, it's fun. I get so much joy out of seeing him so, so happy to do something so simple. I stand him up on the counter at the post office (I think my post office is one of the only ones with a counter like this as the one that is closest to my work only had one slot and no counter to stand on), but it works perfectly! Mason feels like SUCH a big boy and I have a big helper doing half my work for me ;)
I try to switch up the poses (and the outfits!) when I post all of Mason's post office adventures, just to keep things interesting. Now that it's summer, it has been easier :)
Here are the pictures that I've shared on Instagram as well as the captions (minus the emojis) that I've shared from September 9th until now.
09.19.16 // When you're an adult, the work doesn't stop, even on your birthday. Someone clearly wasn't mad about it. Look at that smile!
09.22.16 // Big post office, big mail truck. Little mail man, little mail truck.
09.23.16 // Picking out boxes to send some packages to some special people!
09.24.16 // Unexpected weekend trip to the post office to mail a package AND I let him push the buttons on the machine to buy our stamp!
09.26.16 // Another day, another online return. I swear I don't have a shopping addiction, the prices are just so much better online that I order too much and then return some!
09.26.16 // When the big package mail box is full and your mom lets you ring the door bell to hand the postal worker your box. Best Monday treat EVER! (Side note : he is looking WAY too big in this photo for my liking!)
09.26.16 // I know the post office pictures are abundant today, (don't hate me, I promise this is the last... for today) but when your outfit matches your favorite place, you have to document it, right? Right.
09.30.16 // Mason said Mr. Tow Truck wanted to check the mail with us this morning. And who am I to deny him that joy? So... along came Mr. Tow Truck!
10.03.16 // You guys. I can't even with this. Look at how tall he is!!! He is THISCLOSE to being able to mail things on his own and almost doesn't need my help anymore! And right after I took this picture, he tried to climb on the counter by himself so he could get it in. So resourceful! (ps who spies our little tag along today? hint -- he's on the counter!)
10.04.16 // Cheesin' so hard his eyes are closed. His love for the post office runs deep.
10.04.16 // I don't normally pick Mason up on Tuesdays, Seth normally gets him after work, but today Seth had an early softball game so it's just me and the boy. Instead of going to the post office tomorrow morning, I decided to stop by on our way home. Not only did we get two PO trips today, but it's also Taco Tuesday AND #nationaltacoday AND we already had planned on making tacos for dinner. This Tuesday is shaping up to be pretty good! (picture from this morning. sadly it's not cool enough for sweatshirts in the afternoon yet.)
10.05.16 // We stopped by the post office this afternoon on our way home to mail my letters and I have to admit... I like the morning a lot better! There are WAY less people, WAY more mail trucks in the parking lot, and WAY less embarrassment on my part when trying to take pictures. BUT the afternoons aren't all bad. We saw the huge mail semi truck from the distribution center dropping off mail AND we saw a post office tow truck WITH mail trucks on the back!
10.06.16 // This little guy. I feel like I've been bragging on him a lot lately, but I just can't help it. The fact that he's had a speech delay has always worried me. Not because there was something 'wrong' with him, but because the majority of us use words to communicate. Mainly I was worried... how would he make friends? I feel like maybe this is a common worry for parents when they send their kids to preschool, but I was especially worried. But, as I am so often reminded, kids are AMAZING. Mason has a couple of good friends, as well as his cousins, who don't care one bit that he can't communicate with words as well as they can. They truly just LOVE playing together and ASK and REQUEST for him to come over. That right there, makes me SO happy. But then one more thing happened that made my mama heart burst in a million pieces. Yesterday, when I picked up Mason from school, we were walking out and I hear a little boy yell "BYE Mason!!!!" and Mason turns around and yells "BYE Dylan!!!". Words can't even describe how good that made me feel. The teachers told me that Mason and Dylan play well together but that confirmed it. I about started crying right then and there. My heart is so full.
10.07.16 // Happy Fri-YAY! Getting some work done this morning so we can enjoy the weekend!
10.10.16 // Today might be a holiday for the post office, but it's not a holiday for this little mail man!
10.11.16 // There was no mail in the PO Box this morning so Mason sent the mini mail truck off to go find some!
And there you have it!
How has your Picture Perfect Project been going?
Well, I have some sad news today. This is officially our last Picture Perfect Project link up. We've decided that with the holidays coming, we would be focusing on that instead of this link up, so today is our last day. BUT! Don't let that stop you from continuing on with your Picture Perfect Project! I mean, you know I won't stop taking pictures of Mason at the post office ;)
I'm seriously amazed at how many different photos you capture. I love these so much!! Such a fun way to capture Mason and his love of the post office. He's always full of smiles.
ReplyDeleteYou are going to look back on this challenge & just shed a tear the older Mason gets. I love your post office pictures!
ReplyDeleteI'm gonna miss this link up, but I understand they can't go on forever. And I'm relieved to know your post office adventures will continue! And while Noah has never received speech help, he definitely spoke later than some of his friends. And I definitely worried when he started school how he would make friends and even communicate with the teacher. But you are so right, kids are great! Glad to hear Mason has some great friends too!
ReplyDeleteIt's just the best ever.I am so glad you are going to continue this series too. My favorites are always the photos of Mason on his tippy toes, SO cute! Thanks for co-hosting over the past year friend.
ReplyDeleteI love this series!
ReplyDeleteMy hands down favorite part about this project is that every picture is different! I don't know how you two have managed so much post office fun. But I love you for it!
ReplyDeleteI love how you capture so many different pictures and angles at the same place! Mason is a pro at the post office and such a cutie. His pictures always make me happy!
ReplyDeleteAwww he needs to be the post office poster boy!
ReplyDeleteI seriously love all these photos and how they came about! You need to figure out where some of the coolest post offices are and make a road trip of it!
ReplyDeleteI am so impressed how many different pictures you can take of one one place! This is by far my favorite PPP project :)
ReplyDeleteThese are all too cute! I love that he loves the post office so much.
ReplyDeleteOk. I seriously think you need to make sure the little mail truck makes it into every PO pic. Kind of like a Where's Waldo! :)
ReplyDeletePlease keep theses photos coming!! And he is going trick or treating as a postman right? PLEASE SAY YES!
